  6. It is a good thing to remember that IE is beta right now. not to mention that it wasnt even going to be release to windows xp! Gates decided this at some conference earlier in the year that since FF had taken so much market share away that it was going to be nessary to release IE7 on the Xp os. So this browser was never intended to work on this operating system and now they are trying to make it work.. something that microsoft cant do when it is designed to work in the first place. I have only tired it the Vista beta and to be truthful i was not all that impressed. It just feels to clumsy. I like the search feature on ff, how it is looks, responds, and how you can make it your own. Through tweaks and plugins. Until i see a real reason to change i think i wil be with FF..
  7. I am looking forward to the 360.. I have not seen all that much stuff on the ps3.. kinda of a suprise considering it is sony.. and they always have huge launches for their products.
  8. Guys if you are going to post on this thread please remove the system key information from the picture before you post! otherwise some body might use that key for an illegal copy of windows.. something that you dont want to have happen..
  9. I was a soph in high school.. The first time that I heard about it was in my 3rd period english class. The rest of the day was pointless cause no one wanted to be there.. I remember watching the TVs in the lunch room and thinking to myself.. that it was going to be a big joke.. and how could New York look like that? Either way.. very sad!
  10. As far as I know the usb drivers are loaded for install.. Try moving the keyboard to a different usb slot..
  11. I think I have talked to you about this before. If you are going to go with linksys... I would recommend a model with QoS on it.. That way you can have stable speeds on your connection. You can give dad 50% and you 50%.. or however you decide to break it up.
  12. Q: Why the system failed to boot up and nothing was displayed on the screen after I did some over-clocking or non-standard settings inside the BIOS? Is the motherboard dead? Do I need to return it to where I bought from or go through an RMA process? A: It should not cause hardware or permanent damage to motherboard when BIOS settings were changed from default to over-clocking or non-standard status. We suggest the following three troubleshooting methods to discharge CMOS data, recover the hardware default status, and then make the motherboard working again. No need to bother returning the motherboard to where you bought from or go through an RMA process. Step 1. Switch off the power supply unit and then switch it on again after one minute. If there is no power switch on the power supply unit, disconnect its power cord for one minute and then connect it back. Press and hold the <Insert> key on the keyboard, press the power-on button to boot up system. If it works, loose the <Insert> key and hit <Del> key to enter the BIOS setup page to do the correct settings. If the situation remains the same, repeat the procedures in Step 1 for three times, or try Step 2. Step 2. Switch off the power supply unit or disconnect the power cord. Open the chassis cover. Locate the CCMOS jumper near the button battery. Change the jumper position from default 1-2 to 2-3 for one minute to discharge the CMOS data, and then put it back to default 1-2 position. Close the chassis and switch on the power supply unit or plug in the power cord. Press the power-on button to boot up system. If it works, hit <Del> key to enter the BIOS setup page to do the correct settings. If the situation remains the same, try Step 3. Step 3. The same procedure as Step 2, but in the meantime of discharging the CMOS data, pull out ATX power connectors from motherboard and remove the button battery during CMOS discharging.
  13. Yeah.. you could zero the drive.. and then it would have no data left.. but that would look kinda wierd if the laptop was found and the entire driver was zeroed
  14. new firmware? was that the cause of the problem?
  15. Belarc Advisor.. All versions of win.. http://www.majorgeeks.com/Belarc_Advisor_d1385.html
  16. Ok Abit-is7-v2.. http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/products.php?categories=1&model=187 is that what it looks like? From the User manual I have found out that there should be 2 lights on in the lower right hand corner if the system is working correctly.. right now it seem like the only one that is on is the power supply is plugged in..
  17. You should get neither.. what you really want is an 802.11g router. That should give you enough overhead speed on the comcast 6mb plan.. I use dlink equipment.. Some people love it some hate it.. I would be reluctant to use any of the Mimo routers at this point... the specs have yet to be approved.. and in the future they may not be compliant to the mimo devices.. Here is what I would recommend.. DI-624 by Dlink http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1649692,00.asp NOTE: Those test results were with their 108mb adapters.. however, the range should stay consistant for g based adapters.. meaning.. you should get fast speeds from 0-120 feet.. Linksys: WRT54GS http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1649707,00.asp NOTE: These test results are using their cards with afterburner technology.. Centrino does not support afterburner.. As far as other brands.. it is up to you. If I were you I would watch the newspapers on Sundays.. to see what the retail stores are offering. You are not going to need to get an adapter for any computer. Unless your desktop doesnt have a networking card installed. Most of the newer desktops have NICs on the motherboard. you can check by looking at the back and if there is a telephone looking connection that is a little bit wider then you are set to go. The general setup for this system will look something like this.. Modem to the router using cat 5. then the router to the desktop using cat 5 and to the laptop via wireless.

  20. I am not sure why you would want to have dual Comcast connection if it isnt going to be a online server.. in stead of spending on getting 2 lines.. which i think is what you have to do.. atleast 2 accounts.. spend the money on making your system ondemand for the rest of the house.. My guess is that is going to require a thin client of some type to give you sound and video out.. if you have that type of equipment at your house and you want a connection i would suggest looking into t1. That way you can host if you want to and not void the TOS.. Is this a rack mount server?
  21. read page 36 of this guide... http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=US%2FLayout&packedargs=c%3DL_Product_C2%26cid%3D1122062340941&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper
  22. You might want to try sandra sisoft2005.. It should detect the modem manufacturer as long as you have drivers installed of some sort.. I dont have anything installed.. it comes up as a ? on my device manager..
  23. I would.. if you have that option on the router.. i think most of the Linksys wired routers have it. i will allow you to control alot of stuff when it comes to speed..
