That is a decent computer for the price!! Now remember that you are going to have to pay shipping. Other than that it is good for what you are going to need it to do. If you need to upgrade this is a good base computer!

Comcast is so hard to tweak!! They are currently have a really tight cap all of their customers. I have comcast and have found that by adjusting the Rwin value I can hit higher speed but not all of the time. The connection becomes unreliable.. If i just leave it alone i can get some where in the ball park of 4260mbs which isnt bad! Upload is a different story all together. You can not get any higher then the 250kbs that comast offers. No tweek nothing. My guess is that the next upgrade once the new system becomes stable the upload will go to 300 something. Welcome to the Forums! Swimmer

Hey I am wondering if any of you know PHP. I would like to get into this kind of stuff to improve my websites currently. I was wondering if there are any good books to get started with. I know html pretty well so... I can also program in JAVA and visual basic. Just wondering if you had any ideas thanks!

The Toshiba PCX2200 is a 1.1 DOCSIS modem. Unlike the Motorola which is 1.1 and 2.0 modem. The reason that you hear so much about the motorola is that motorola has a contract with most of the providors so they get the new suscriber's $$. The other company that you might want to check out would be linksys. They make a great cable modem!! This would be the one you would want http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=34&scid=29&prid=592 It is a 1.0,1.1 and 2.0 modem, very simular to the motorola 5100. There are certain weekends that BB runs specials on networking gear and most of the time this modem is on sale. The other place you might want to check out is newegg.com they do sell this kind of stuff.

i thought they were also for dial up... they must have changed them. In that case just runs some speed tests here. start small and get the fastest speed you can get. Then up the file and make sure that you are still getting a decent speed.

Run some speed tests to see which one is the best for you. Also dslreports.com has a tweak test that will give you the stability of your ping and a bunch of other numbers to help you tweak you connection.

It could be your ISP or the server load at the time you tested. CA3LE is upgrading to a newer server for those of us who are over the 3mbit barrier.

Yeah but the floppy is kinda a staple of a computer. Is the shop networked with network storage?? That is a good price for what you are getting!! The only change I would make would be the case and maybe the monitor... Other then that it is a solid computer.
