Hmm well using kaspersky now, (props to organ for the help) it has found 25 "trojans" in the system restore files.. but their like "p2p worm" or some sh*t so i doubt their actual viruses, just MFWPI (malicious files w/ possible intent). Either way seems to be a pretty neat program, and ill continue using it to see if this hardcore Norton Antivirus user is going to make the switch! o_o

Ports that respond and ports that are accessable are different.. If your going to use programs at least read up on how they work ... lol

It could be one or more of many things.. Network card drivers are faulty. spyware viruses Modem/router deffective modem/router drivers need updating phone line or splitter faulty. I think the easiest thing to do is to go directly thru the modem to test speeds.. If their fine, its the router. If it isnt, borrow your friends modem and test on your pc.If your speeds are still slow its either something with your machine or the phone lines to your home. Just some thoughts

Exactly. Cox has already begun upgrading to 9/1 , verizon is leading in speeds, comcast is even faster then us now a days...Once FIOS is avaliable in my area, the day i find out im ordering. I mean, i love earthlink... have for years now. But 40 kbs upload is not worth my money when folks are paying less then me down the road a few miles and are getting 15/2 's .
