  1. Hm, then it's time for me to OC mine back to 2.7 instead of the 2.4 it's running now.
  2. Some of those reviews are so ignorant it's no longer worth it to even look at them for fun. Go for true reviews and ignore Newegg comments. The Zalman is a good cooler, but too expensive for how good it cools. You only really need to replace the original cooler if it's too noisy, it'll handle the new CPU in terms of heat dissipation just fine. And the one coknuck posted is a known good performer.

  4. That depends on what thermal paste is used actually, and for most of them it's just a degradation over time. If one's that sensitive to temperature, it must have been an incredibly cheap one.
  5. In other words, something in that menu is messing up. Have you installed any programs recently that could have added an entry to that context menu? The other option is to repair windows, which requires the winXP cd.
  6. I'm about to take my rightful third place back. We still need more folders though.
  7. Shouldn't that be like, "American"?
  8. Going for a safe guess, eh?
  9. Hell no it won't, even if I have to kill a few people, my guess will be right.
  10. A safe guess would be 15th of October, so I'm going with the 16th of October instead.
  11. DX10 is overrated. The low-end cards don't even run the current pseudo-DX10 games and it'll take another upgrading period of 1 - 2 years before it's established as the dominant dx version. Unless you're getting a 8800GTS or higher don't bother with DX10.
  12. You might want to clean your CPU cooler while the case is open anyway, I see a lot of dust in it.

    Power supply

In other words, they have no idea what they're talking about. Your current system will take like 150 at most currently, so theoretically you'd be fine even with the 250 watt, if it was a quality PSU. With the 8600GT you'd be at 200 or so. 350 watt will be plenty.

    Power supply

That doesn't make sense. Did they mean it's unnecessary to have more than a 350 watt power supply in that particular pc?
  15. resopalrabotnick: Look who's complaining. wyantm06: If they were simply bought out by AT&T you're problably out of luck.
  16. And it's about damn time you did. It won't be long till the temperatures drop, so if you keep that computer on it'll serve as a heater as well.
  17. Clicky. This comes at a nice time, since our team has been gradually falling ever since those PS3 started folding. We need to get back in the race, and at the same time help them reach their goal of one petaflop of performance. If you're new to Folding@Home, read this thread to find out how to run it. I'll see you on the team then.

  20. If you do ping tests while downloading a file, you're also taking into account the possible latency created at your router/cable modem when they have to deal with a lot of packets. In the worst case, the ping packet can get dropped, but usually it's put in a queue and that delay is added to the ping times. The better modems/router use QoS to give priority to the more important packets, like UDP traffic for games or VoIP packets. As for high/low, you want it to be as low as possible. A higher delay means your maximum speed using the TCP/IP protocol drops, especially if your internet settings in the registry are set up for low ping. For a real display of how good your router/cable modem is, try bittorrent at increasing percentages of your upload speed. Unless they're really good, you'll see ping spikes way before you saturate your upload link.
  21. Sammy_C. I hereby open the hitlist again, with you as my first on the list. I cannot have people downloading AND uploading faster than me on the forum. It angers me. And anger on my side leads to pain on your side. So run. Run for your life. While you can. Hit list: Sammy_C
