    911 and FiOS?

yes fios will allow and support 911 there was problems with VoIP NOT supporting but that is an FCC regualation that THEY are working on and it does NOT effect FiOS ALSO Power goes out = Battery kicks in and powers your phone AND DATA yes AND DATA dont let anyone tell you otherwise when u pick up the phone after a while the battery will go into sleep mode to conserve power in case of emgencies so you will hear dead air, a click and then your phone wil come back on since the battery will realize that there is an outgoing connection being made and it will snap on. ALSO after a while when the battery starts to go low from what i have been told incoming phone service will be interuptted since it will be conserving power for emergencies but to be honest i dunno since well i dont have FiOS AND i havent encountered anyone without power to test the theory. Hope that helped.
  2. mmm i dunno if it would reduce speed th eonly thing i can see is that maybe it wil cuz of it being wireless but other then that the bridging shouldnt reduce it that much but again im not quite 100% positve try testing it out worst comes to worst call up VZ and have them send u a wireless one only costs like 60 and besides i would just do the linksys anyways if your comfortable with it. thres really no difference just hard wire at least one pc.
  3. you can use any router you want but jus as an fyi normally we dont support a lnksys if you get a tech that knows about linksys and is confident then we will support it but on the off chance u get someone that doesnt then they will recommend using the dlink we give u. all u need is to set the route to PPPoE and use any user name ans pass since its open PPPoE set the MTU for 1492 and thats bout it it should work fine.. then set up your security to what you wish it to be and ur done.
  4. the only thing that would cause the screamer is having your comp not set up with a pppoe connection in the network connections and then plugging it directly into the wall its a flood of upload junk data. the only wy to really tell if u have a scramer is if your connection is basically either dead completely or shit loads slow ie almost dial up speeds. you would need to call us and we would need to reboot the ont remotely....or i believe u can go and unplug it that would reboot it as well but just call us and we can do it very easily takes 2 secs. as of now we dont do DHCP so unfortunalely PPPoE is the only way to have your comp set up if you are bypassing the router and directly pluggin into the wall. as far as the rest i can find out when i go to work ill ask and see what the thoughts on that is at most the havoc u caused could be solved by a reboot. so yea. none from me hope that lil blurb helped if it didnt BLAH screw im tired and fuckin hot! my apologies on my language lol, one of those days. those sticky hot days. ~TM
  5. i hate you all the most i work for VZ and I have to wait sigh all day i get to help ppl with a service i cant even use! ::cries::
  6. the thought that because jeb was govenor he rigged the election to allow bush to get florida from what i believe thts what he means.
  7. FiOS = Fi Ber Optic Services and yeah like he said.
  8. halo shouldnt but does. least in what i have seen not sure nor did i ask what network connection they had prior that may have caused it so not sure.
  9. you can avoid the "screamer" by NOT pluggin in a defaut DHCP enabled router ie one you used for cable. ALSO you can avoid it by NOT pluggin in your computer directly into the wall. More often then not those will cause it, least from my calls i have gotten.
  10. thats sounds like a very random port for us to block....i highly doubt that we block it. i'd suggest if ur having trouble using that port go and see if your lan connection is firewalled in xp also check to make sure any firewall software you have is off then try fwding the port in the router to your computer's ip address. if that doesnt work feel free to IM me @ Tapion Mystic on AIM we'll get it working for ya. or you COULD call the FSC if u want. ~TM
  11. hell yes we would! hehe damned annoying.
  12. when they go DHCP you will be able to hook directly into your computer as for a switch not sure aint tested it. may be feasable.
  13. hi sorry they broke your sprinkler system. call this number and let a tech know what happend they will make a report about it. 1-888-553-1555 let them know that the people who laid the cable broke it and that they are liable they will fix it and more then likely compensate you for the problem. ~TM
  14. well when techs call me with prblems they usuallly tell me that they made the cable and crimped it themselves then tested it. so if u have cable already they may pop endson it for you if u lay it already and then test it to make sure it works so long as u dont penetrate the wire when u lay it or crimp it to much to where the wires inside would break you should be fine. if there ARE problems the tech may have to redo the wiring themselves to ensure that there wont be problems later. the wire they use is Cat5e. hope that helps and as always. Thank you for choosing Verion. hehe sorry force of habit. ~TM
  15. my apologies for the tech not calling you back. i suggest rechecking the settings in outlook and then calling the tech suport and having them look at it on their end. or if possible try using another email clinet like Thunderbird just to see if its an outlook problem as to isolate it. the ore you know before you call the tech the less work for us as well as less headache and less time on the phone for you. not that i mind i love taking calls and take as much time as needed to help out you guys. but thats just me all i can suggest is try that and then if it still doesnt work call VZ and have them look into it on their end but have as much knowledge as you can about your problem before you call (i.e. Email Cleint your using, Settings of the client user pass pop3 and smtp server settings also try it in Outlook Express the one that comes with windows XP to see if its a problem with office outlook.) just my suggestions sorry if im rambling im at work and its slow. feel free to post anything in here if that dont work. and ill help you personally as much as i can, again sorry for the tech not calling you back when he said he would. ~TM
  16. well generally we are "trained" so to speak for the D-Link DI 604 & 624 routers. The policy is that if you as the tech feel comfortable and know the router that the cust has feel free to help BUt if you dont or are not sure or are having major connectivity issues we suggest using the router we give you. Since we know that one in and out. but using your own equipment is fun and dandy SO LONG AS IT HAS PPPoE! We wil help if we can BUT we dont SUPPORT other routers ONLY ours.

    FIOS DHCP

...wait so you dont have FiOS but you have a D-link router and DHCP...works for you? well of course it would if your provider allows it and its an option on your network. im talking about FiOS if your saying that you DONT have FiOS and it works for you then great what i want to know is if it works NOW with people who HAVE FiOS.

    FIOS DHCP

i believe in some areas it does work although i havent had a chance to test sine A) i dont have FiOS yet and havent had a customer who has tried DHCP. feel free to test it if anyone can and post about it here. by no means am i GUARANTEEING anything, as VZ can change their minds at anytime and be slow on this process but this is what i have heard so far. jus figured i'd let you guys know.

    FIOS DHCP

i noticed around here there was a question about VZ FiOS becoming DHCP. Well I'm here to answer that as best I can.. As of right now It's PPPoE BUT thats not all it's OPEN PPPoE. Now im not going to explain OPEN PPPoE here. Anyone else can feel free to explain it for me. As i have my own reason's. Now the "expected rollout of DHCP is June-July for all new installs. Expected DHCP conversion is end of ''05 all old customer's expect letter's either by email or snail mail directing you to a webpage to download a piece of software that will upgrade your D-Link router to the DHCP setting. Although I assume that if you dont have the provided D-Link router you will be given instructions on what to do. (Like you people really need to be told how.) This change will effectively allow VZ to not HAVE to provide a router. Although they most likely will. Provided at a fee of course. Hope this info was helpful in any way. Any more info i come across that wont put my job in jeopardy i will let you all know. as this isn't unknown as most of you have heard rumors. BUT worse comes to worse you didn't hear it from me lol lates ~TM
  21. the only control you have is over the router just like any other router you buy and throw oin a connection. the ONT is limited you only have access to the lines 1-4 and the data port which are physically at the ONT you dont have any other access interface wise...everything else regarding the connection and what is on our end. and the ports that i know that they block for now is 80 i believe for now that's it but dont quote me.
