  2. Totally Useless Facts In Idaho a citizen is forbidden by law to give another citizen a box of candy that weighs more than 50 pounds. According to law, no store is allowed to sell a toothbrush on the Sabbath in Providence, Rhode Island. Yet these same stores are allowed to sell toothpaste and mouthwash on Sundays. For hundreds of years, the Chinese zealously guarded the secret of sericulture; imperial law decreed death by torture to those who disclosed how to make silk. By law, information collected in a U.S. census must remain confidential for 72 years. In Breton, Alabama, there is a law on the town's books against riding down the street in a motorboat. The lighter side... Who Says Men Don't Remember Anniversaries? A woman awakes during the night to find that her husband was not in their bed. She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him. She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in front him. He appears deep in thought, just staring at the wall. She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of coffee. "What's the matter, dear?" she whispers as she steps into the room. "Why are you down here at this time of night?" The husband looks up, "Do you remember 20 years ago when we were dating, and you were only 17?" he asks solemnly. The wife is touched thinking her husband is so caring and sensitive. "Yes, I do," she replies. The husband pauses. The words are not coming easily. "Do you remember when you father caught us in the back seat of my car?" "Yes, I remember," says the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him. The husband continues..."Do you remember when he shoved a shotgun in my face and said, "Either you marry my daughter, or I will send you to jail for 20 years". "I remember that too", she replies softly. He wipes another tear from his cheek and says... "I would have gotten out today!"
  3. Do you have a wireless network installed in your home? Chances are that you do. If so, did you know that hackers might be using your Internet connection without your knowledge or consent? It's called "Drive-By Clicking" {War Driving} and it is becoming more and more popular all the time. Here is how it works: A hacker drives through a residential neighborhood with a laptop computer equipped with a wireless network adapter. If a wireless router isn't configured for secure communications the hacker's laptop can detect the signal, stop his car, and access the Internet using the unsuspecting homeowner's Internet connection. He can send spam emails (potentially getting the homeowner in trouble) and even access sensitive information on the host's computer. Scary stuff, huh? If you have a wireless router you can protect yourself with these tips: Place your wireless router in a location that is as far away from the street or the closest neighbor's house as possible. Change your router's password from the factory default (which most "competent" hackers are familiar with) to a new one. If you have file sharing enabled on your PC be sure to activate password protection. Enable encryption (WEP) in your router's configuration settings. <---this WILL slow down your connection! Be alert for clues that someone else is using your Internet Connection or home network. These include excessive Internet traffic through your cable or DSL modem (the data lights will flash more than usual) and a sluggish PC with lots of unusual hard drive activity. Taking the time to secure your wireless network from cyber-intruders could save you lots of headaches and losses (monetary and otherwise) in the future. 4. Experts Warn of IE Download Flaw Hackers could bypass security warnings and download malicious content. A computer security researcher and an antivirus company are warning Microsoft customers about an unpatched hole in the company's Internet Explorer Web browser that could allow a remote attacker to bypass security warnings and download malicious content onto vulnerable systems. http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,119322,00.asp The Reverend
  5. More great news. I called this into Microsoft. Technicians checked out my story, ran a few tests, and we got honorable mention and kudos for solving the mystery of the https thing-a-ma-bob-it ....Tony & everyone at TestMy.net. Hell yes, who ever said Monday's wre bad days...not even noon yet and three major malfunctions are solved over and done with! NEXT!!!!!!!!!!! (we're gonna get creamed ...wait and see). The Reverend
  6. You and me both bro ....they just ain't right,,.....AIN'T RIGHT!!!! lol.....
  7. Hi, For those of you who cannot access https websites, please check your Javascript settings and make sure they are 'checked' so that they are enabled.
  8. I believe I oould hear them entering the info I was giving them on how I did it, but not to make it so that nobody else could do it, believe it or not the "main man" on Level II Support wanted to know how this was mathematically computed so that they could reprogramme their machines in the same manner, because nobody has come up with actual working algorithms since the DW6000 was released. So, to the contrary, it appears that this may actually GIVE us more speed over and above since they are going to use the very same to give THEIR COMPUTERS faster access to their birds.....and if they go faster, we go faster. Simple. I just got six month of free usage for that one Troll Guy. This must be my lucky week or maybe I am just holding my mouth right for a change? Pretty cool no matter how ya look at it. At least they didn't chop my speed the instant I hung up, and I have proof positive on them now, so they are trapped if they are not on the "up and up." But it appears they were being honest once again, and that much is good! THe Reverend
  9. No. I am saying that the chances of them opening are better than with FireFox. Seems that Firefox does something to screw up https in your Registry. XP sometimes can repair itself. PPL don't like Zone Alarm. I've used it flawlessly with a static IP for three years with no problems. Never had to drop the wall once in order to get into anythihng. If you DO, you won't last 40 seconds and you sure don't wanna go to an https website with no firewall .....the hackers will cream you. The TCP OPtimimizer will just give you "top" speed, it has nothing to do with helping your IE browser accessing https sites. Good luck THe Reverend
  10. It is LESS secure because the DWay connection will only take advantage of the IE security. It ignores anything else. And, your speeds fall through the floor as well. Sorry, but those are the stats and the "straight skinny" from the men who created them. FireFox is indeed nice, just not if you are using DWay is all. You NEED the bulk of a full browser. Firefox "tears up" XP Systems so that they no longer work for getting into https sites and such things ...or at least that is what my data is starting to point to, and I have over 2,000 trouble calls exactly like yours! (And climbing....). Cheers! The Reverend
  11. In your browser you can't type in 192.168.0.1 and get the command screen with a "green" light.....clicl on the "light" and the next screen tells you your SS and other things you should WRITE DOWN! If not, you should return to IE because you are screwing yourself out of over 400Fbps! DirecWay DW6000s are MADE for IE only ..not the lightweights my friend. You are actually running LESS security due to DirecWay! So give it careful consideration please? Thanks! The Reverend
  12. Get rid of eveything except the first line of info because your broswer only uses that top line.
  13. http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ Cholla turned me on to this place last night. I tried it at 8:17AM EST USA and got exactly 100Mbps (not a misprint) 100Mbps (so, I am assuming that the new Server is online for the high-end speed testing because that is (almost) her maximum speed.coming straight out of Houston or Virginia if you ae extreme East Coast. Cheers and TY Cholla! THe Reverend
  14. Forgot to say that my best upload is a killer 14!!!! lol....Oh well! The Rev
  15. Hi there MasterGunz and welcome to www.Testmy.net! What do you mean? This forum is LOADED with speed tips for anyone! The one I just posted to attenton all 6000 users would help you alot. As far as your getting into bank sites (https), I think I have the answer but nobody has tried it since I posted it last night. In your browser, click on Tools -------->Internet Options ----------> Security ---------------now click on TRUSTED SITES then click on the SITES button ...add in the URL you are trying to access and make sure that box under it is checked. Okay your way out, reboot, pray then give'r a whirl. If still no go, go back in and uncheck that box , make your way back out. Close then open yur browser and see if that did the trick. Good Luck my friend! *never wait on DWay. Come here. We get things done unless it is truly a problem at NOC (and with a speed like that you are either having a MAJOR problem with your satellite or something is terribly wrong. Today is very fast alll over, except for a few ppl on Horizons 1 and several on G3C. So, check out the fixes in this forum, such as going into your browswer Tools, ----->Internet Optionss ------> Connections ------LAN Setting and in there 'check" both proxy boxes and leave them that way forever because it wll never change (if you ever run LCCU it wil uncheck these boxes to be sure to recheck them if you ever do, now click on the ADVANCED button and make sure it says 192.168.0.1 and Port 87 at the top. Below, in the Exceptions box you'll see a space ...........please cut and past this data into it: direcwaysupport;192.168.0.* Now Okay your way back out, try your speed test again. If no good try rebooting and then the speed test here again (use the 2992 file for accuracy ...and remember this is a business day so the later it get the slower we go). By 7PM thing ar bac k to normal. If none of that works you will STILL want to keep it and as I mentioned, reference my latest post regarding speed. I was given all new data this morning from NOC by fax ...so here's your chance! Good Luck and don't be afraid to hollar if you need additional assistance. Fair enough? Hey!!!!!!!! We are happy to have you as you sound like a cool guy. TY for dropping in! Cheers, The Reverend
  16. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 243 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 483 KB) Download Speed is:: 30 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 4 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 34.13 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?num=252525 Here ya go! I finally got the kinks worked out and this ain't tooooooo bad for a DW6000 eh? Cheers The Rev DW6000's users, see my latest speed post in My Forum (DIrecWay of course). New data -new math- new speeds for all for sure!
  17. The funniest part to me is that I DO have an Aunt Karen .....really! I can JUST see her pulling this off too! LOL
  18. Attention everyone please, New numbers from NOC arrived by fax very early this morning, I did some math and decided to try a theory (a WILD one) that I've been pondering over.
  19. Never catch you? Hmmm......chances are that I may own the server you are sitting on. heheh..... Now, is that with a satellite connection? If not, why are you posting here? If so ...it must be a 4000 or 4020 running a 'heater'. Otherwise, you are a "land lubber" running copper wire. We are running signals over 50,000 miles in many cases. SOOOOOO....if you do the math, our connections are actually superior to yours, but due to the distance, we lose the speed. (tongue sticking out) ~ The Reverend You can 'take the heat' right? lol...
  20. Or, just install the file after unzipping it. I posted it as an attachment (self installing) six posts prior to this one. It's the exact same file and will work on all Home (or Pro) Systems. TY The Reverend
  21. It is a programme that detects Trojan "mutexes." Most any antivirus (AV) does the very same now, so I dunno if it would be useful or not to be honest! The Rev
  22. Somebody plesae tell me if he was just being "funny", or did that mean that my Server is too slow by comparison? (I want what I paid for)! What are the numbers supposed to be and I'll give TechSupp some heat or otherwise get it up there (just need to know where "there" is)!!!! Thanx! "The Rev"
  23. XMechanic - kick back and enjoy. No worries here, no "games" here. Instant assistance here at any hour (usually), and no meatheads. And we graciously welcome you to this Forum. WARNING: We are psychotics at times and cannot be held responsible for our actions, or women left alone in here after 8:00PM. Have a look around this Forum and enjoy! We have compiled alot of useful info that I am STILL testing, and I have been given much more that I am compiling into smaller "books" to accomodate all topics with nice and clear info! (Even got some pics)! Olive Oil, Betty Boop, .....you know. Cheers! The Reverend
  24. Hey there! G3C is the acronym for Galaxy 3 C - a satellite. It is also called 95
  25. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 239 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 483 KB) Download Speed is:: 29 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 4 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 35.31 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?num=252525 Go figure .....this is with all machines online (four), the server online 'load-balancing' the morning d/l's ...yet I am faster than before by over 100? lol......That's Dway for ya. If yu don't like your speed, wait a minute. "Silence" speed is averaging 344 on this PC. Also notice that I got a better score yet used a bigger file while having four times the traffic on the WAN! ARGH! I need sleep! Cheers, The Reverend *New Server for Testmy.net is "honking" and looking good everybody.
