  1. I didn't say to shut it off! I said to shut it off, then re-enable it again! This is the only way to clean out the junk that is hogged up and preventing it from working right. Just disabled it then re-enable it and it will work just fine. I do it all the time but I NEVER run my machines without the System Restore on ......it's just too handy not to have! Cheers! The Reverend *What I am describing is working splendidly for a $40,000.00 computer complex. I am sure that it will work just as good with an XP Computer sitting in a house!
  2. There are no supporting stocks (funding) for this project. I wonder if it will ever get off the ground?
  3. VanBuren, thank you kindly for that info. I was mistaken and thought that 1480 was the useful number, not 1460! No wonder my math hasn't been working out to match the figures! LOL DUH! The Reverend
  4. Please allow me to speak for Indestructable in that I personally feel he is just being full of his usual "DRY" humor, because we are very good friends as I am will all others here. And, I am deeply humbled by the gracious words of those who have flocked to my defense. I don't know what to say except thank you for being such good friends, and rest assured that I did not finance the new server for personal gain. I did it for the betterment of this website so that the topics being mentioned can now become a reality (and so VERY much more), and the capacity of file transfers will be increased, along with a host of features that only CA3LE is able to tell you of. I just set it all up and she's now online as off 1hr24 minutes ago. As a soon as she is incorporated into this website so that both act as one, we'll have power beyond believe my friends! Again, I am deeply humbled and graciously speak many thanks to all. Please do enjoy the contribution to its utmost in every way. The Reverend
  5. With the System Restore Utility, once you hit the maximum MB of storage space, your oldest SRP will be deleted to make room for the new. Go into your control panel, then System, then the System Restore 'tab', disable it to dump everything, then go right back into it and re-enable it. Then make THREE System Restore Points to reset it in your Registry, reboot and you should be out of the woods. If not, IM me and we'll dig deeper, or post to my part of the Forums so that I won't overlook you. I am swamped with between the Forums and the new server at the moment. Cheers! The Reverend
  6. Hey there VanBuren! Thank you so much for your support. From you, it has extra special meaning and I truly do appreciate it in all ways given. "The Rev"
  7. Hey Troll Guy....in answer to your question she's located in Houston and is (silently) backed up by two more dedicated T1's (one on the westcoast and one on the eastcoast of the USA). She's part of the backbone of the ev1 systems (high-end) http://www.ev1.net Cheers! The Reverend
  8. RTB: She's located in Houston, part of the ev1 network of servers. It has two other T1's backing it up (redunancy). And as far as "what the change will be" ....well, it is just a surprise that I am giving CA3LE the pleasure of setting up and then announcing. (I just work here). Give him a few days to get the feel of the new wheels then he'll tell everyone what is coming down the road. Expect some major changes to his already awesome services and some additions to the website (and mirror) that will blow off the competition once and for all. Cheers! The Reverend
  9. It is not his first attempt at twisting the truths that lay behind religion as a whole ...so don't pay any attention to it. I'll pick through it later and provide you with a "counter" report that will be "Truth" ...whether it agrees with what you were raised to believe or not. No harm intended. But what I have to say is based upon over 48yrs of experience, and a great many years of being a Reverend ....and TOO MANY YEARS OF DEALING WITH CRACKPOTS LIKE THAT SOB !!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL.... The Reverend
  10. Oh, well hell yes, in that case they would be most happy to take your money. hehe...I am about to give my DW4000 System to my son for his exclusive use in his business, and take some heat off from my modem! lol....He's a bandwidth eater big time! My daugher has already purchased her own .98m dish and modem ....I am almot done with the tower for her rig, then we can fire it up! Thanks for the 'add-on' there Lance. I always appreciate it. btw: the new server for testmy.net is now online and she's a killer CA3LE is checking her out right now and may move this entire site over to it ....she's a hot one! lol.... I love it! (just kidding....I dunno what he has in mind but I do know it'll be splendid and fair)! Cheers! The Reverend
  11. Good question. I am tryig to find out who in the H**** is in charge of this new thing so that I can get some answers. So far I am pulling up nothing. Tomorrow (monday) I will be able to get an answer no problem. One Sunday's I am all but dead in the water when calling them. (Idiots at work you see)? Cheers! The Reverend It may be misinformation too...so don't get your hopes up. Nothing has been mentioned about them, and I would be VERY wary of them since the DW6000s are working out just fine. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GIVE DIRECWAY A DIRECT PIPELINE INTO YOUR COMPUTER ....the DW6000 falls just short of that. So, if the stories are true about these newer modems, I wanna have a look inside before buying one!
  12. The new Server that I have funded for CA3LE is now online and running smoothly.
  13. Cholla; I am working out the math for some DWay tweaks for a Dialup...give me several days to get the numbers right as it is all Algorithms to the cosines of Latency, etc. You will be a "testee" at best, but we should be able to make that modem "talk" a bit better. OR ....if you wish, I believe I can get my hands on a DW4000 system (with a dish with DirecTV too). All you would need is to come up with shipping charges ...or I may be able to supply it for nothing. I'll have to wait to see if the dish owner will donate it or not. He's stateside near my stateside church in North Carolina. Hey ....there is always the outside chance of ANYTHING happening! I'll do my best to get you running faster either way. Cheers! The Reverend of Costa Rica!
  14. That's a 1000 -1 shot at best from what I have been told by my cuz at NOC Lance ...but I understand your thinking! Cheers! The Reverend DIrecWay WILL NOT commission the older 4000's because they can't control them. So, you really need a good excuse before they will allow it ...and even then many are discovering they are "capped" at exactly the advertised speeds and the "tweaks" are worthless ...and, within the next three years they plan to phase out DW4000 Support altogether, to FORCE the DW6000's on everyone ...but they intend to kick up the speeds and FAP limits to make it more attractive too. Looks like DWay may be taking a more honest approach now that the word is out on them. I get alot of faxes and calls from their corporate center asking my opinions based upon the traffic I am getting on trouble tickets ...and they are truly looking for better ways to improve their service because they are seeing alot of people DUMPING them and walking away. So perhaps all this has been well worth the effort, because it was my intention to bring about such a change if at all possible. Let's call it a small miracle shall we? Cheers! The Reverend
  15. Isn't this stuff supposed to be directed at me?
  16. That is a good price! I got mine Adobe Direct for quite a bit more, but I got the new two CD Suite of Proggys instead. PageMaker is great for our usages ...but sometimes I like the freedom of the Freeware Arachnophilia v4!! lol The Reverend
  17. With numbers like that I would not consider touching ONE THING. Those are awesome speeds for the DW4000s. You don't want it any faster due to FAP Limits...You'll just FAP yourself too fast....so I suggest you keep what you have and let it "float" day by day. The Rev
  18. That's cool.. lemme know if you get a few how it works out fer ya! Cheers! "The Rev"
  19. I hear ya Mr. Ranger. I have the other browsers set up for testing, but I only use IE6 because in my humble opinion it just has better software behind it, and I have no trouble with security ....and it seems that more you use FireFox the worse things get messed up inside your Registry over the long run. So ....to each their own, but IE is FAR better than anything when you are using DirecWay ...especially with a DW6000! That's straight from the people who built the DW6000 for Hughes! (Confidential Info) Cheers! The Reverend
  20. Well, see how you are looking at it, but anytime you ground metal that is suspended you create a lightening rod. POTENTIAL TO GROUND determines the possibility of being hit by a strike, so I don't ground my dish. My insurance covers me if it fries the modem and system (plus I have 40 foot ground rods behind my antennaes because they both sit on top of an 80 foot tower ....so I let the rods and tower take the hits and pray it does't "tickle" my "radio"!!!!! LOL RULE: IF YOU GROUND IT >>>>THE CHANCES OF IT BECOMING A LIGHTNING ROAD ARE 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers! The Reverend
  21. You could try shutting down, cleaning the contacts on your graphix card, then if no good, install new drivers (updates are important of course, or see if you can borrow a monitor for a few. Monitors usually just BLOW ...but yours may be slowly dying. I'll be happy to give it a funeral and burial grounds if you wish. The "music" is related to a virus though ...but I can't find the link that I read on it. Too many every day and can't keep up! Good Luck! The Reverend
  22. Yep! That helps for sure. Compressed drives cannot be Indexed, so if you do NOT have the "box", all you need to do is Disable Indexing and you'll be fine. The Reverend
  23. That is just as good as XP Smoker (which also keeps ya Cleaned Out (automatically checks two times a day). It keeps the junk files out of the system! NICE ONE VANBUREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Reverend
  24. Take your browser to any of the website for free "housecall" online scans ....you DO have a Trojan/Virus activity going on there.... www.trendmicro.com would be your best shot.
  25. Nice Lance! Geesh! Wish my rig would pull down those speeds, but then again, I'm going fast enough considering that there are four users on here, so my test results are always "crippled." The Reverend
