  1. Ah man, I remember the punch cards! rofl.
  2. Guess what? Microsoft is providing a 120-day trial for Windows XP Pro 64-bit! http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/evaluation/trial.mspx It's a 550 meg download though. Pretty cool, eh?
  3. 1998 Pentium MMX 200 mhrz EDO ram 80. (Plus 16 built in.) Voodoo2 16 megs 17" CRT 56k v90 3 gig hd All for $50 It came with others, and the motherboard could go up to 233 mhrz and 128 ram. lol... 2 PCI and 2 ISA(sp?) ports. Build in USB, but the company made a booboo and the motherboard couldn't support it yet, it had the ports. LoL, talk about price.

  5. To much can give you some packet lost and such.
  6. Tigerdirect hasn't screwed up with me yet, except when my dad accidently bought a printer that wasn't compatible with 98 and had an annoying voice to it...
  7. I had it going good for a few weeks until yesterday, I didn't do anything to it at all. Btw, you know linksys is providing a free wireless g router when you subscribe to that VOIP crap for 25 a month? =D
  8. Nope, that doesn't work. Compaq doesn't provided an unmodified version of XP, so it comes with norton and the other crap when you reformat.
  9. Hmm, that's a good idea... I run over eight programs when scanning my computer for stuff, and I get major lag issues while trying to turn them on one by one. Yeah, Ad-Aware freezes alot, however it usually comes back. If you are sitting there just starring at it, I suggest you don't, go to sleep or something. If you did go to sleep and you came back and it was frozen on directx, might be a problem.
  10. I don't get it, why does everyone suggest for newegg when I find all the cheaper prices with tigerdirect?
  11. Search in google, "Free ringtones".
  12. On the note of removing Internet Explorer from Windows XP, you can... It's an option in Add/Remove Windows Components. No reason to though, Firefox might not be able to view a few websites, so I just use the Show in IE plugin. hehe. Slackware and DSL (Damn Small Linux!) FTW!!!
  13. Firefox is setup faster then Internet Explorer, another reason why IE is the sux. =D
  14. I use AVG's new built in Firewall. It passed that leaktest, so I'm good with it.
  15. I said, "Brutal" ways of removing it. Lorne, as you can see he got it in his Compaq/HP deal as did I, where I found out how to force remove it. Norton is truely the worse antivirus I've come across so far, even after the huge story of how they use "Super computers" to create their own viruses and use those to preblock attacks before they come to you, what's the use if the program can't get that far to run!?
  16. First, may I suggest that you go directly to Norton first? They provide very brutal ways of uninstalling it, and you will find no success doing so under safe mode, it won't allow it.

    Lsass.exe

Yeah man, anyone at this point would suggest for you to backup and reformat.
  18. You're actually at 786, Tampa here is mostly 1.5 386 upgrade, hope you get that upgrade. They don't do it automatically, just call them and ask for it, it's free and usually occures with in the day with no guy coming to your house or anything.
  19. Line Quality, it might take up to a day for it to complete, all it does is makes sure you get no packet loss due to a bad wiring under the ground, etc. It's not something instant, and you don't have to sit there looking at it, just come back the next day and check out the results.

    Lsass.exe

That's funny, I get over 36,000 results with isass.exe and 338,000 with Lsass.exe, top pick for isass.exe was some information on a virus. There's also another virus called mydoom that is Lsass.exe. http://www.auditmypc.com/process/lsass.asp Update : I found that it is indeed an L. http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/lsass/ Also, here is your exact problem on another forums, you must sign up for it though, and it costs $10 a month just to view. =( http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/WinXP/Q_20958211.html Here we go! Sasser worm, I'm sure you've heard of it and it must be manually uninstalled. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sasser.removal.tool.html Use that and see if it gets rid of it! IMPORTANT : You must make sure you are fully updated with Windows or else it'll keep on coming back! More information here. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sasser.b.worm.html and http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sasser.worm.html And lastly, and most importantly. http://www.ozzu.com/ftopic24247.html I hope this all helps, if not... Then I'm stumped! make sure to turn "off" system restore. Also, if "that" didn't work... Then disable RPC. 1- start-programs-administrative tools-services 2- locate the: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and open it 3- choose recovery botton then select -Take No Action- for the three pulldown menus Hope this helps.
  22. Trying typing msconfig in run and press normal startup then reboot, if not, then I suggest you give us a list of your services and if they're disabled or not.
  23. Could be a service issue.
  24. That's pretty odd for a college.
