It can be done via blutooth as well, I'll connect mine and do a test now that we have a thread for it Cool ! A Problem I've Had For Months and Have Never Been Able to Solve
mudmanc4 replied to altoidz's topic in Make it Faster...
i don't understand how the ISP can get past the settings you set in the router, thats not cool. AT ALL ! Make sure you have remote management , and everything that claims remote is turned off. I know I'm not familiar with what you mean by traffic shaping, other then throttling certain IP's / URL's , but it should be no concern of there's what you do within your internal network with what bandwidth you are allocated. That not only stumps me, but I have a hard time understanding how, let alone why they would care. Oh yea, I have never messed with tomato, I never had a router that would take it. But the settings are the settings, and they should do the same thing. Is it capable of setting mac filtering ? Altoinds, that looks like something from the server, can you do a trace route to the game server ? -
I remember trying that along time ago, still the same hey :/

I think user "tommie gorman" has at least the same type of connection, maybe he will see this thread and give you a few of his tricks.

Gotta love the enthusiasm ! What appears to be happening is much like you state, people relying on government to make all the decisions, instead of private companies, thats where things go astray. Regulation over a snifter of fine brandy, and a cuban rolled leaf by a tiny fingered 10 year old solves every issue. If government would keep there hands off privatized corporations, and let the people decide with there dollars who stays and goes, what actually makes something work of-r not in the final say is the people that use the service, no matter what that might be. So regulation of anything doesn't work, never has. What should happen is companies should be allowed to fail, so to alloothers that have made the right decisions as to what the consumers draw in move to a better position, there fore expanding the infrastructure by default.

Keeping an open mind in every aspect concerning the future of "the internet" in my opinion is something that should be the first on the list. This world has already begun to stop itself from the basics of growth in so many aspects by means of politics, that these that are making these decisions fail to see that they may have already destroyed something that very well could have made themselves more successful.

Google 'Fixes' Internet Explorer's failings
mudmanc4 replied to zalternate's topic in General Discussion
I think the last line in the quotes settle it up. Although talking to non tech people, and there experiences with chrome, (so many people just click and install anything they see ) , most of them tell me they had to uninstall chrome for various reasons. So it's going to take google more then what appears to be a IE theme to get those people back on board. -
Not so good of test scores are they. I don't know that you are aware that testmy.net will convert the test results into a banner for you, or you could just copy and paste the test results to the field, no need to put it into the code brackets, but hey it's cool So what are you supposed to be getting as far as bandwidth ?

Do you have the team number set to "44352" ? Thst when it helps TMN Your name can be anything. I need to look and see if another core has been written, the last one for the mac was awesome, but at the same time, pushed it to the max, and I didn't take the time to get into it to ease it up a bit.

I was thinking along the same lines. It could be , and it's just a guess, that the reason you had no power for a little bit, is like Diehard said , something in there is whacked, and a capacitor could have shorted (thus the power spike ) and took a resistor out with it, and the PS could have a slow blow breaker that went back into shape when it cooled. ! ?? I would do what Diehard suggested, get that PS out of there in an instant if the board is good now, doesnt mean it will be in another second . You might be supplying something with more power then it can handle, and eventually , soon, it could fail because of it.

A Problem I've Had For Months and Have Never Been Able to Solve
mudmanc4 replied to altoidz's topic in Make it Faster...
First thing first, really, I once thought I was a genius, but then I realized that I'm not, get it ? I'm just big on making sure the data that the machine requests, goes to that machine, not sending a request, and letting the hardware decide where it goes by piecing parts of the packets together then comparing them to where they came from. In a nut shell thats what a static does, a very light explanation. The QOS will help, when someone else is using the line, it takes up part of your bandwidth right ? So by setting "Quality of Service" , the bandwidth that is set for the static will all be allocated to that IP. Lets say for example you have a 10Mb connection, ( just examples ) and the gaming machine needs 7Mb of that, but there's someone else on there that is trying to use 5 Mb, what QOS will do, (depending on how you have it set up and what the firmware the router /switch whatever is capable of ) QOS will make sure that the static machine with the QOS settings set to allow all available bandwidth to that IP. All it will do to the other machines, if you have it set up right, will slow there speed down, because it's been allocated to the IP you punched in. There's alot more to it, if you want, and different devices have different capabilities, I'll check out what firmware your router has. You might be able to install a different firmware such as dd-wrt, or tomato, and there's a couple others that arent mainstream that works super well if you want to get a bit more advanced. Which will allow deeper configurations. Or, you could telnet into that router you have, and get real deep into setting a vlan and get rid of netbios for even more security and reliability. Netbios stinks on ice and cloggs up the local network pretty bad by constantly looking for other devices, keeping them in cache, blah blah sending data that should not be sent and sometimes creating security risks. Alright, I'll stop there. -
Supposedly, the 4700 doesn't have the proprietary PS, so you should have been ok :/ Are you sure the MB has been fried somewhere ? Or could it be another issue ?
-
Have a look at some of these boards. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=SubCatDeals&SubCategory=280&StoreType=2&N=2010200280 Dell has made a proprietary PS for quite some time, the wiring is not the same, they will fit into another MB, but that doesnt mean it will always work. There's an adapter you can get somewhere, let me go look around. And there not all like that .

A Problem I've Had For Months and Have Never Been Able to Solve
mudmanc4 replied to altoidz's topic in Make it Faster...
First thing I would try is getting your machine set up as static, then forward all the necessary ports you need for that specific gaming server to that IP, then make sure to set your QOS settings are correct for that physical port , or virtual port, whatever way you set it up, to make sure that your machine is getting all available bandwidth during gameplay. The other machines shouldn't notice any difference unless there trying to download something big, or they are all on at the same time trying to download something big. Have you tried any of that yet, if so, what were the results per each setting ? -
PROUDLY SHOW OFF YOU'RE ROADRUNNER SPEED HERE
mudmanc4 replied to elinvesti8's topic in Show off your speed
The way the ISP has "speed boost" set up, I have to run a test thats over what I know my package is in order to get an accurate test result. Say i'm set up for 15/7 , i have to run at least a 25 mb test, this way 1/2 to 3/4 of the test has completed before the bandwidth is throttled back by my ISP. So not a bad score for being on there 15/7 tier. -
Not a bad score there either way !

Hello & anyone know anything about satalite internet?
mudmanc4 replied to valntyn's topic in New Members
There's plenty here that seem to have the same issue, brows around a bit and get into a discussion with some of them -
Give it a few, there'll be someone around that knows there stuff about EDGE....................

Good to see you back in here and doing awesome !!

What user are you tying to help with this ?

It's probably me. I'm sure there's not that many people that have this problem.

On my end at least, I posted in a pm to my son, then walked away to the kitchen poured myself some icewater, and i don't live in a one room apt. so this was well over 60 seconds , and that is just one example. So I left, and went to email, at least I could say something to him when i wanted to.
