I know that some ISP's , or I should say I have heard , some ISP's don't allow the standard ftp port "21" which is outdated, (they don't want you running a server) and very insecure, Spome also block port "80" , but then again, with the right server, you can change the incoming port, and tell the client where it's at, so just use a different port, I use sftp, which runs through port "22" . But then again, the way networks stay compatible with sftp anymore, you would use PASV mode, in which the ports range from "1024-65535" on the server side to answer the client back. TWC blocks port 80, so what, just tell the client wherever you ported the thing to :haha:

I betcha 100 TMN bucks, that since yo went the length to purchase a mac, and after teh learning curve, when you find out that you can do everything you can do on a pc, and actually, you'll see how much more organized your machine is, that you'll swear by it. I know that there's a strange transition, there's no doubt. Deleting something is simple, installing is a pleasure, there's no registry to bloat out, and wonder what the hell all those damn keys stand for. Hey , I'm not knockin windows, I love XP, and 2K even more so. But I can control my OSX machine so much more then I ever could windows. In so many other ways. Networking? Man, what a breeze, but there were several funky " things" that LEopard did that stunk on ice, but there were taken care of in the next version "P' DOW " baby. Now I'm waiting for snow leopard, actually I have it, just havent burned it yet.

Tweak for what ?
-
well where better to test from , then the most accurate test server , testmy.net, post the comparison from in the network to out of network, naturally , the speeds are going to be reduced when your not testing from the ISP itself.

Yea , I went through I can't , or would rather not say how many phones before I just went to the HTC Touch Diamond PPC. I have several phones sitting here, think I'll put them on ebay.
-
Only issue with this is they test within there own network. None the less, good speed

Iv'e ben back and forth , at no time, have I ever been asked about the authenticity of my notebook, or any other software / hardware i might be carrying with me . -
See thats the right way to change your boot screen, without all the "extra baggage" of another program on your machine, specifically for this. I admire your enthusiasm The most you ned is resource hacker, right ? There is a free download of paintshop pro , but check the md5 before installing. I didn't see one along side the installation, but it may be in the package in a text file. If thats what your looking for.

Maybe this will help ?
-
Well for one , you could call the ISP, and ask them what plan you are on. You could also set up automatic testing here at testmy.net, and take an average as to what your actually geting, unlike other test sites that bloat up your results, to keep you coming back. testmy.net will be more accurate. edit to fix my link lol

From what I gather, the LG 8300 doesn't support POP//IMAP , clients, but you can use MSN, AOL, Yahoo, and Gmail. Maybe a few others . Try the plugin (that should be on the phone, ) or quickly downloadable from the phone's download section, then forward the emails to one of the associated accounts, that will then forward them to the phone. Either that, or the phone is EVDO compatible as you already know. The most info I can find is you need to use "mobile web " to access your emails. If I could get my hands on it, that would be a different story, because it sounds as if like I said above, the phone will send receive emails messages, but not outlook, also from what I gather, the phone will accept Gmail, try forwarding the outlook messages to your Gmail account.

You want your emails through your phone ?

Maybe you could resize the images, so they fit on the screen ? -
It does say that on the windows commercial though :haha:

As with the rest of these "self creating" files of MS, just change the name of the file, and or the extension, see what you get, just remember what you did, because I played , and lost the boot file, then you have to re install.
-

Holy hell yea ! hahahaa, real real nice ! -
What did you use, or put in place of the boot screen ? I played with this once before, but it's been some time ago. I ended up doing it in "msconfig" and just checking the box that says noguiboot, or something like that. So you get nothing. But obviously you want something there. So I looked around and found Bootskin , and there library of VERY cool skins. I found this info here , since I'm not sure what, or how you tried this, this is all I have, if you get it to work, post up for the rest of us. Or if you can't then post what's going on, and we'll see whats up.

Ahh, gittin warm hey. well you should be able to set how much memory, and CPU the client uses. Reducing it by 20% should do the trick, and pay attention to the flags set, some may be default. Like "-forceasm " it'll keep it runnin warm if it's not properly cooled. And change the default save time from 15 minutes , to three minutes. Set flag "-verbosity 9 it'll keep the memory from loading up, what it does is send the completed work units off to home.

I have had this happen on systems before, it's not from being on all the time, it's from a mis configured client.

Iv'e done that in windows itself, yet I'm not familiar with the canopy software (portal) but this shouldn't have nanything to do with your bill, this has something to do with the amount of bandwidth that the card will allow through, not what your specifically allocated. I'm surprised that you were able to access these settings, they should only be able to be accessed by the system admin (the tower) , but then again, I'm not familiar with the portal. You very well may have adjusted setting that apply to everyone on that color code, (or tower as I understand it ).
