If I remember correctly from when I had DSL, The line attenuation is the quality of your line, and yours seems a bit high. And the power seems like mine stayed most of the time.

The cable between the two cannot be the standard cat5 -6 cable wiring. The center two of must be reversed, if you have the tools to do this great, it's a lot cheaper, if not , then they sell them pre wired as " crossover cables" .

What's the snip for ? And no, if you can pull this off, then the machine connected to the modem will act as the router.

Your set up might vary slightly. Add a second Lan card to the machine that you originally set up the smartbro account on. On the first machine ( the one that is connected to the internet first, open the Network Connections folder. Under Network Tasks, click Set up a home or small office network. Click Start >All Programs >Accessories >Communications >Network Setup Wizard. ( you might need to insert the XP install disk) Select the Internet connection that will be shared with the second machine. The Wizard will try determine which one to use. Since your computer has more than one Lan card, the wizard asks you to select which one(s) to use. Specify Let me choose the connections to my network, then "highlight"the two connections, or cards, and chose "bridge connections". Make a description of your network, and name your network ie:mshome, or it could already be named, make sure there all the same, I'm not sure about smartbro setup. You'll need to go into the network properties on the first Lan card, and select "allow other computers to connect through this computer " Then on the second machine, you need to start the connection wizard , and select "this computer connects through another computer " You might then have to click connect to the ICS server, enter the same information you did on the first machine ie: description , and mshome ( unless smartbro calls it something different. You'll have to restart both machines after the wizard is done. Chances are, you'll be asked a few different questions during the process of each machine. But I must say, you could lose your connection, and need to call smartbro to get things working again as I am not familiar with your specific setup. Keep this in mind please.

Have a look at macrium , I can't vouch for it, but it seems nice, in fact, I'm gonna try it myself.

I understand the $$'s thing, and I have never used XP's backup, I know there's a good one out there that's free, I think open source, let me look in my disk bank here and see what I can find.

I'm sure we've been asked this question before, but as time goes forward, we get new machines. So I'm takin a poll, my goal is to get an average of what were using. If you have OC'ed your proc, cool, just tick the stock speed in the poll section, and post your OC'ed speed. Along with the poll, go ahead and post what proc you have, and what MB, especially if you've overclocked it, so we know what's workin best.

With clients I have either contracts with for regular scheduled maintenance, or hell, if someone's box is just so mucked up, I will clone the entire Hard drive. To me, there;s no more secure way of ensuring data , you lose someone's "stuff " when it came in for a tune up or simple virus repair, your gonna get smacked down, let alone lose your referral base. When you get the machine in, just figure in time for the cloning. I use several programs, here are a couple good one's that i can vouch for. You decide. drive image xml xxclone EDIT: I looked in my stack o' stuff , and found my favorite, really good one, I would reccomend acronis over any of them.

Probably 6 or 7 gigs for the largest file, but many at once at times. Fills a HDD up fast. Last year I filled a 250 Gig up in a few days, can't say just how many days, but I know it was less than a week.

1. Connect the ethernet cable from the smartbro antenna to the WAN/Internet port of the router. 2. Connect your PC to the first ethernet port on the router. 3. Make sure that in your PC network settings, it is set to Dynamic IP (Obtain IP automatically) 4. On your Internet browser, type 192.168.1.1, leave username blank and password "admin" (w/o quotes) 5. On the router

I understood that much, but thanks. So your saying you have no control, or your control method is the same as if you were using any other means of listening, ( the standard audio controls ?) There must be something out there to monitor, and or adjust " something " about it.

Keeping your system secure, and clean is a basic, monthly requirement for all of us. There are many different programs out there that claim they will detect and destroy the

Do the virus scan in safe mode, only after removing the malware you have ( there's almost always something there) Depending on what program you use to scan for, and remove those pestering little data spy's, you can adjust exactly what , and where, and usually how deep the scan will go. Go into your add and remove programs menu, and search out and delete anything you didn't install, or you don't use.

I should have replied earlier, I searched for a bit on the subject and didn't find anything worth while. I'll look some more, but sounds like you have a temporary fix.( creative if nothing else) I'm not familiar w/ using optical audio, maybe you could enlighten me as to the basics. What's the control method, such as scripting, or programming. Is there a GUI, or is it basically an automated built in deal ?

What do I really NEED that won't confilct with other programs.?
mudmanc4 replied to pixiepistlz's topic in General Help
Personally, I put as little as possible on my computer, no this and that, nothing. Just AVG free, and spybot goes on any and all box's I work on, and they have , I mean NEVER had any virus's , just spyware, and that gets removed by spybot once a week. Hell with all those addons, only the ones you NEED , you'll know what you NEED when you goto a site, and they prompt you to install something like flash, or adobe. Nothing else, no ridiculous toolbars and such, it's all addware and spyware. Keep your system lean and clean, and you'll have no issues. I would never use all that crap they tell you " your system is infected " , you install that crap, and your infected. NEVER do those scans when they say your system has issues, it's just adds dear, nothing more, just skip them. -
Myself , having little experience w/ java issues, my only suggestion would be to re install your browsers, first firefox, then IE. I'm guessing there was an installation problem.
