If this started out of the blue, chances are you have contracted "something " nasty. If this has been this way, or you changed power save settings, or applied a program to do anything of the sort, chances are the system has been set to allow the device to be turned off to save power, and it's just sluggish starting. Does any of this sound possible ? If so, what comes closer ?

Does the computer go on standby when you leave it for a while ?

I like fairy tales too.

Well stated, thanks

Be careful what you save, that thing is the worst infection Iv'e ever seen, not that I deal with them everyday or anything, but it has been known to get into email, pictures, all movie files, music, most any data on your machine. If you burned anything since the infection, it's possible you could re infect yourself when you put your " safe " files back in the machine. No they don't always show up on scans either.

Pixie, you have "vundo" it's nasty , real nasty ! I have never found a way to completely get rid of it other than a full format, then re-install. Sorry dear, you can find out tons of stuff by googling it, but the process is ugly. edit: I need to add, any machines on your local network will be infected as well.

Considering the fact that you do have a connection through the router by changing your color code, (or access point, correct me if I'm wrong) I would assume your right. Let it be for a while, deal w/ the slower speeds, then maybe try changing back.

This will be reported, if someone comes up w/ an answer, I'll post back asap.

Iv'e said it in the pst, I'll say it again, you bring a nice light to tmn. Just keep postin !

{...Comcast 50/10 super slow with router...}
mudmanc4 replied to babydickonboard's topic in Networking and Hardware
Why did you set static IP's ? Did you set QOS on any ports ? I would reset the router to default settings, get rid of the static IP's on all the machines, and start there. Make sure you have the UPnp set positive. -

Very Informational, thanks Pixie, nice find, and i believe of great importance.

I was actually embarrassed for her poor self image, to be honest, I wasn't clear before the comment , nor did i care what nationality she was. But it was made an issue wasn't it. I'm still wondering whether the call was recorded. Don't really care, it's not important, but I couldn't believe I was having that conversation with MS, why is it relevant, it isn't. That is not why I called, I didn't care then, and i dont care now, I just would have liked to get an answer to my questions. So much for that for now, I have better things to do. If anyone else has this issue with a legit copy of Vista Ultimate, let me know please.
-
Nope,Not booted into it right now, I use it as little as possible, for as few things as possible. The only thing hat Vista works well for my use is gaming. I really have no problems with it when all I do is play. I just cant trust windows anymore.
-
I don't even need to, the thing runs fine, except the desktop background went black. Checking my router logs, Vista still accesses the web from the root folder somewhere, even while not mounted !!!!!!!

So I boot to Vista from the macbook pro via bootcamp partition to sync my ppc data and weekly schedule I beamed from iCal, ( the "missing sync" for the HTC PPC is a pain in the carcass, and very much unstable, or I'd just use it ), aar, so I start up Vista after not using it for a week, on the bottom right corner I get this something like " this copy of Vista is not legitimate " . which I paid for it, in the box , in the wrapper, from my local shop. I get to a tech that seems to know what she's talking about, I soon realize something upstairs has "shifted" to the left, maybe an biological electrical storm on the planet chzassarr has taken the moisture from the layers between the white, and grey matter. Who knows , but this is what i get first. She tells me I have a "burnt" copy of Vista, and I could be subject to prosecution , starts giving me this junk about how people like me are stealing from the pockets of children because MS gives so much of there profits to help the unfortunate. So I listen to this for a few, hoping that when they say this could be recorded, that this one is being recorded. I tell her I have not "stolen gubment cheeze from Hajii, I paid for the disk, and have everything she needs to verify . I ask to speak to someone that can assist me in my issue, she goes off, I mean she goes off, " you sayin I dunno my job ? you sayin because I'm black you want to speak to someone white ? " ( I knew she was having trouble with the English language, but that's what you get when calling) She goes ON and ON ! I'm gettin a bit tired of this by now ready to hang up , and right this off as maybe I'm in the twilight zone, and she snaps out of it and says she may have " misunderstood " what I was saying. She then asks me a couple of by all standards reasonable questions about my system, she finds out I have Vista installed on a separate partition on a apple computer, it took her quite some time to understand this could be done, I'm for sure at this point that either Ashtin Kutcher is gonna pop on laughing his arse off , of maybe Allen Funt rose from his resting place for one last jazz on me. lol Finally she tells me I cannot legally install Vista on a Mac, that I need to uninstall it immediately, and she can help me no further in this matter, and kindly asked me if she could help me with anything else. People, WHAT THE HELL ???????????? :icon_shaking: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: I had to have dialed the wrong number, right ? Right ?

Microsoft lobbies Wal Mart to drop Linux.
mudmanc4 replied to Shug7272's topic in General Discussion
hahah, true that ! Hey , they can pay there way, bribe there way, threaten, who knows what else MS will do to try and keep the market on there mucked up operating system, but they wont stop it forever, there gonna have to eventually join the rest, and go with it. You never win by fighting this way, only delay the inevitable. Spending time and millions trying to keep the competition off the shelves isn't the right way, they should develop something someone wants because it works well for them. Maybe even works side by side them. But who am I, just another consumer that as I sit here shopping for an iMac lol -
The score is obviously grreat, but what astounds me is the core voltage of 1.840 V , 5 years a ago, you couldn't run a proc on twice that. Let alone those waves.

3 years huh, must have plead one helluva case.

Hey Gary, welcome to testmy.net. We have to be careful when discussing movies from torrents, we are assuming you have paid for them. Just make sure your formats are compatible with your player.

I suppose it all depends on what the owner is signed to, as well as there network. Iv'e seen much worse in atp. settings, so maybe just be glad for what you can get you know ?

Your probably sharing the bandwidth along with everyone else in the building. There's only so much to go around in that case. Not sure if there's much you can do about it. Welcome to testmy.net, maybe someone else in your same situation will have a couple pointers, check back in this thread.
