  1. Games stink in ice in a VM, they only allocate part of the system resources.
  2. Many ISP's block port 80 for security reasons.
  3. Thanks for playin nice, some people don't then they get to go to bed with no supper lol
  4. EEEk. Sounds as if there could be a nasty in there. Try Microsoft Virtual PC , it's free, and I have used it, works great. I'm not sure if your familiar with a VM, but they allocate system resources for each VM, you could have just set something wrong, or maybe the defaults weren't right for your system. You'll love it when you get it going on, I know that. I do.
  5. Have you tried to right click on the connection, and " repair connection " ?
  6. Cool, familiarize yourself with the control panel accessed from the start menu, look for " network connections" . In there you'll see what connections the system has installed.
  7. I think you misunderstood what I said, there is a difference between speed bandwidth, and the amount of bandwidth used in GB. For one thing , saying people who download illegally, or steal from others, should be coddled to is ridiculous. That is what were talking bout here.
  8. Please do not argue with the staff, there are rules that we need do to follow put together by the owner of this site . Thanks edit for my crappy spelling
  9. In this case there should be standards within individual contract as to the monthly bandwidth usage, when you reach it, your connection should be slowed. There should be no term (abusing bandwidth) You get what you pay for, and thats that, run it out in a day, and there you have it. Easy enough. Right ? My forecast of the internet ( or in the future, life-net I like to call it ) , everything we do will be on a connection as a whole, there will be nothing that isn't. Hell, they have been working on pacemakers that are controlled by the doctor ( I think we discussed this in the past ), think of the possibilities. We have the technology, we just need to break through this whole ( it's mine thing ) . Sire what we create is essentially ours, but why did we create it ? To better people, or to make money and restrict access to it.
  10. Welcome to testmy.net jhdz_king, what speed should you be getting ?
  11. OK, no problem. Explain to me your network layout. Do you have cable, or DSL. Do you have a router connected to the modem, and is it a wireless router if you do. Are you running windows. Which version XP Pro, or home ?
  12. Right, and in the long term, this will inevitably raise the cost of a connection across the board.
  13. Go into control panel, look for network settings, or however your system is setup, some say different things. You'll be able to see all of the connections you have made as far as card, bridges ect. Gpo ahed and delete them, there will be one left that will not allow you to remove it. Thats ok.

  15. Right on~
  16. I can say the TV surely would not be recognized by the OS ( not that I know of ).Does the card use the S video ? if so use it.which one is it (GeForce 7300 GT, GeForce 7300 GS, GeForce 7300 LE, and GeForce 7300 SE) Some did then , some didn't, You'll get the best signal that way. A TV is crappy playing games from a PC that way ( doesn't have the resolution. But you could. I have.)
  17. Reset the router, with the reset button. Clear your internet files stored in IE , all of them. Get rid of kapernsky ( just for now ) Go into your network connections and right click on the connection your using, and reset the device. Chances are , you have some sort of malware, ( you mentioned kids lol ) Plus there's allot of junk going around right now, even from sites that we never have had issues with. So look a bit deeper into your system. There are advanced setting within spybot, use them, but be careful if you have sensitive data, they can delete goodies that you want if your not careful ( not sure if your familiar of not, so excuse me if so )
  18. It;s going to be difficult to assess the issue without a bit more information. First , I think since I'm just guessing here, you have changed as many settings as you could find trying to find the issue. You should delete all the current connections. Before you restart the machine, go ahead ( if you have cable internet ) and unplug the modem, and reset the router, if applicable. Before reconnecting to the world of information via modem, scan your system thoroughly for any type of spyware, and or virus. Best way to do so is to first scan all files , all users with your antivirus. Then move to safe node, and do the same scan. You should really have a spyware detection program, I prefer to use spybot.com , just works. If you don't already have one, this may be an issue since your not connected, but don't worry, your antivirus should find most really bad ones that may effect your connection, but not always. Start the modem (it should be unplugged for at least 5 minute IMO before attempting to start back up. This will clear IP address stored in ISP's server, as well as config info in the modem. Wait until the modem shows a connection, and start the router ( if applicable) Then start the machine. You'll be prompted that there is no connection if you did things right, and you can create a new connection using the windows network assistant. Tell me you have a connection now, if not post up what your results are, as well as any information you get via OS popups.
  19. So you admitting it . :haha: Sorry man, had to
  20. Discussing how to proxy around a portal isn't a subject that needs to be discussed here. Not the smartest thing to do either, you could get yourself in some trouble, (as well as us) as well as heavy fines, among other nice things the ISP can do with you, such as never allowing you to open an account. If you weren't talking about actuall free internet, and you were asking how to get around a loggin page for the ISP, that's another thing.
  21. Get to small, lose most the good stuff. At the same token, an older system obviously won't have the best hardware. I've run Linux on some damn old machines, getting rid of windows does wonders for older box's that didn't have the fastest chips, and the mosty memory. Best thing to do is just pick one, and run with it. Pay attention to the minimum instal size, and go from there. Let me know what you decide on hey ?
  22. too damn long, I think my first e-mail account was juno, late 80's early 90's somewhere. My first comp was a tandy MC-10 (no networking, had to have a graphics pack, and the storage was a special tape, like a cassette ( remember those ?) lol You punched all the code in, then went through a hundred or so syntax errors, fixed the routines, and sub routines that were written incorrectly from the books. lol Ahh the good ol' "goto's " and "if" staements
  23. Here's where i check often, http://distrowatch.com/there's so may, it's really depends on what you want to do. But for your situation i would have to say open suse, or fedora.
  24. Those are nice, and sound good , a friend has one similar model, sounds great !
  25. It's human nature to react when we hear something that doesn't flow with our opinions, but we learn to feel confident in what we see at the time to be fit for ourselves. I'm sure you'll get plenty of good out of your decision , hell, I fell on the HTC. I've read where people can't stand it, ( for whatever reason ) and the opposite. But as for myself ? wow, Iv'e had the thing for a week, and I'm wondering how I made it w/out the thing before . lol It does everything that I need a mobile device to do, and more.
