The service is sporadic in my area, otherwise I would have one. The contract I signed recently is meaningless to me, there ordering me a 3rd phone in the same amount of time, due to who knows what. Other than the extreme heat the thing just about has a melt down sometimes. Wish the damn iphone service was better in my area !!!!!!!!!!!

Malarky !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's simply a marketing ploy. They have millions of those discs w/ vista written on them, and there collecting dust. Sure , you won't see it in the big box stores, but like the article said, goto the mom and pop shops, and buy a cable for your HDD , or something stupid to make the OEM version legally sold. Duh.

If they can't install a pirated version on there own, how the hell are they gonna use the OS ? Besides, no matter what they say right now, no time soon are they going to stop selling it, you can believe that ! There will be OEM versions out there for a very long time. And i don't mean a couple months either. My guess is it will be available to system builders for at least the next 5-7 years. Why do I say that ? You think the " best MS had to offer, vista, and the next puked out version will be suffice for replacement of XP ? I think not.

Get used to it ! Thats the way they operate. You have to get to level 3, and they will test you in network, say your fine, and or say something is wrong, before they come out to fix the " mysterious issue ", you will have your speed back. They do this twice, then you get pissed, and move back to the lower bandwidth, your speeds will increase past what you were getting on the " turbo bullshit ". You'll later decide to get the "turbo package " again, and go through the same thing again. Enjoy your roadrunner

it's a command prompt, so you'll have to start > run > type "cmd" , when the window comes up, then at your username, type " sfc /scannow " . Or look in accessories in start > program files > accessories> command prompt. You'll need your installation disk to complete this.

You need to look at " TKBELLEXE" , there are real player updates that call themselves this, as well as worm infections.

Could mean quite a number of things. I always reccomend running " scf /scannow " in a shell. This places all system files to there original state. More times then not, any number if files are moved, edited, and or deleted for the sake of installations. Takes quite some time, close all programs and have at it. If this doesn't solve your dilemma, I would clean all the " junk " out that you know you don't need, or use. Well, do that anyway, just be thorough about it. There very well may be hardware issues, but by cleaning and pruning the system, you can nearly rule out software. Think back to when the system began acting up, did you install something just then , or soon before the issues started ? If so, uninstall the program w/ it's included un installation program in " add and remove programs ".

Do that update , then do the windows update again, and like coknuck said, look over at the left hand side of the screen after looking for up dates, and hopefully it shows something in the drivers section. If not , just find on the computer who made the thing, if there's nothing you can see, like a sticker, or an insignia, then you'll have to open the case, looking at the motherboard, usually there is large writing somewhere on the motherboard itself that say's what board, and the numbers as well. Post that name, and those numbers here, and we'll find the correct drivers for you. I was assuming he did'nt have the disk.

The first thing that I would do, is to restart, then goto windows update, and when it asks if you want "express " or custom or whatever the other one is press that one, many times it will let you know you need something , and allow you to download it. Try that , and if it doesn't work, then we'll need to find the system builder, or more-so, the motherboard manufacturer, and find there firmware to install the correct drivers. But usually there going to be the " AC97 " ones.
