  2. I get emails like this all the time. Sometimes people are confused and think that I'm somehow associated with the ISPs and companies I provide information on. I'm not... I can't access your account, I can't send a tech and I definitely can't disconnect your service. TestMy.net is a third party and is in no way associated with any of the companies and ISPs listed. Hi Alan, Unfortunately you've contacted TestMy.net not Wildblue. It's actually not uncommon for people to email me thinking that I'm affiliated with the companies and ISPs I provide information on. I even get random calls on my cell phone, one just yesterday actually. I talk to some ISPs, I prodive tests for some ISPs but I do not have any affiliation with any ISPs. I just provide the tests to help you keep them honest about the speeds you're supposed to get. I work for the consumer. Contact Wildblue - I wish you luck getting the best speed possible in your area. Maybe that's with Wildblue... maybe someone else. I assume that if you're on satellite, you must be stuck with limited options (satellite is usually not by choice, lol). In my ISP ranking ViaSat rates higher than Wildblue and Hughes Net. ... but I haven't seen any other them first hand. I just know about the complaints I hear. Wildblue and Hughes I'd bet have the lowest satisfaction rate in the industry. I've been doing what I do since 1996... out of all the ISPs I've had complaints on there are three that stand out as consistently pissing off their customers. Wildblue, Hughes Network and SmartBro (an Asian wifi ISP). They're pretty much even on the number of complaints I've heard. Just realize that satellite has limitations, there is a huge roundtrip involved as the data flies out into orbit and back to earth... it then has to take the conventional land routes that other people take. The latency is what kills you. Having said that, there are a lot of advances in satellite in recent years that have boosted speed. Do your homework, make sure you're getting good equipment and have it installed by someone highly experienced. If you have other options in your area like CABLE, DSL or 4G LTE you will always get better results with those over satellite. Even at lower speeds you'd have a more reliable, snappy, responsive and better Internet experience. - Good luck, happy testing, - Damon - TestMy.net
  3. To find that information look into the stats for Cabanatuan City Philippines. To search for other cities, countries or ISPs go to https://testmy.net/database. Once you've found what you're looking for click the ranking tabs to see member and ISP ranking. After looking, Philippine Long Distance seems to be the best choice in Cabanatuan City right now. SmartBro seems to have a lot of user complaints. People are always trying to make it faster.
  4. 7. Smartbro @ P832.50/month Location: Dasmarinas, Cavite Better change that Globe buddy...
  8. $25/month or Php1,000 Smartbro Located at Cavite, Philippines
  9. Using SmartBro plan 999 right now and at night till 6am in the morning, I get 1.5 MBPS. In the afternoon however, I only get 0.30 MBPS. Really need to get PLDT but there isn't any DSL line here yet.
  10. I assume that you're on SmartBRO... Well, the topic is at -- but I'm seeing the most recent posts people on Windows 7 aren't having much luck with that method. Personally, if I couldn't find the new way to do it... and if I couldn't figure it out, I would use virtual machine and windows XP to get the job done. Or try to get access to a windows XP machine, since we know that those instructions work perfectly on XP. PLEASE, if you find the new way to do this let this forum know. Allot of SmartBRO users are looking for this information.
  11. Looks allot better than SmartBRO / PLDT
  12. I really do not understand what is going on with my Smartbro. I was getting very nice download speeds before around 50-120kbps. Now I am lucky to get 8kbps. Here is what I do not understand, when I download music or apps in iTunes, they download pretty fast. I downloaded a 22 meg app in iTune and it only took about a minute or two to finish. Downloaded a file in Google Chrome that was 23 meg and it took 30 minutes to finish. Getting the same results in Apple Safari, Internet Explorer and Firefox. Have the latest updates on all my browsers so you know. I am just wondering what would cause iTunes to download fast but not my Browsers. Does not make sense to me. The Bulldog!
  13. I crack myself up! SmartBro $ 25.00 / P999 a month. DL speeds vary but go down to 11kb/s and up to 80kb/s, and are often at the low end. Actually a DSL (144kb/s) standard of 1988 but further limited by Smart as obvious. The contract states unlimited. Results from PLDT speed test indicate higher results as observed during internet activity. Convenient! That further includes over two years of threads on my Globe cell about payments of a non existing account, regular SMS dept reminders for paid bills, shifting the contract date forward one week for extra money requests, unavailable service, further annoying disturbances on my ex Smart cell, e.c.t., e.c.t., e.c.t. Wonder if Smart should switch to PS2?
  14. absolutely right !!! 100% smartbro wifi canopy SM module ;D
  15. hi to all!!!! my name is balong and im having problem with my internet speed ryt now,,,, im a smartbro user,, and im paying 999 php evry month, see my test peed below,,

    Hello

welcome to testmy...stick around...enjoy learn and share... the setup she has almost sounds like smartbro in the philippines so i wonder if any of the speed up info in that area would help...it's under asian providers.
  17. I have 512kbps aggregate in canopy now almost 4 or 5 months already due to my antenna(1mbps aggregate) flew away because of the storm "Ondoy".. Im very disappointed when i see my QoS 512kbps=>UL+DL only last time in my old antenna it is 1000..I get only 40-50kbps download last time it was 150-200kbps that was a very big deal in speed. Is there a chance to change this aggregate to 1mps or to report in smartbro? because they are in not right plan to install 1mbps but they install 512kbps to me ..Im already a old subscriber of smartbro "2007" but they give me this !!!
  18. SmartBro is good in providing good broadband connection and for all the smartbro users, if they want to increase their internet speed then, they can easily do like, there is a proxy for smartbro and you will find it according to the browsers you are using like, if you are using internet explorer or Mozilla.
  19. Smartbro really is the fastest, not reliable yet.
  20. THIS how you tweak smartbro to be able to get a stable and faster connection 1. Assign the TCP/IP Manually. To be able to see what your IP, Subnet, and the default gateway, again go to Control Panel and then look for the Local Area Connection and then right click on it and choose Status and then click Support Tab, and then click Details, and there you will see the complete information of your IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS servers. Now you will have to copy and save those information on a paper or maybe a notepad and save it somewhere in your computer, because you will be needing those information later. COPY THE IPv4 address, SUBNET MASK, AND DEFAULT GATEWAY. For Windows XP: GO TO RUN, then TYPE CMD, TYPE IPCONFIG.And copy the same details. 2. How To Change Your DNS Servers? Step 1. Go to Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection > General Tab > Properties > TCP/IP. Step 2. Use the information that you saved earlier on each of the respective information. IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS (208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220). Here: type the IP, SUBNET MASK, AND DEFAULT GATEWAY THAT YOU COPIED. FOR DNS: You can choose on the SELECTIONS BELOW. Here are the DNS address that i have tried... 1. Google •8.8.8.8 -PREFERRED DNS•8.8.4.4 - ALTERNATE DNS 2. ScrubIt Public dns server address: •67.138.54.100 - PREFERRED DNS •207.225.209.66 - ALTERNATE DNS 3. dnsadvantage Dnsadvantage free dns server list: •156.154.70.1* - PREFERRED DNS •156.154.71.1 - ALTERNATE DNS 4. OpenDNS OpenDNS free dns server list: •208.67.222.222 - PREFERRED DNS •208.67.220.220* - ALTERNATE DNS 5. vnsc-pri.sys.gtei.net Public Name server IP address: •4.2.2.1 •4.2.2.2 •4.2.2.3 •4.2.2.4 •4.2.2.5 •4.2.2.6 After you TYPED the DNS, Click on ADVANCED on the bottom right. and refer on the steps below. - just tick like whats in the pic. - just tick like whats in the pic. - just tick like whats in the pic. After all the steps followed., click OK then disbled/ enable LAN. Step 3. After placing in the right information, double check and then click OK on both Pop Up windows that opened. Step 4. Go back to Control Panel > Network Connections. Now Right-Click on Local Area Connection and then click Repair. This is to refresh the connection and DNS servers that your connection will use. Step 5. Now you can check the difference of the speed through www.testmy.net and compare what difference it made since using the default DNS servers of your Internet Provider. I HOPE THESE WILL HELP YOU GUYZ.
  21. Hi guys please help my smartbro connection is unstable, sometimes disconnects due to high jitter. LOS (line o f sight) is partially covered by trees, antenna height is already 30 ft and I'd like to know the most practical solution, preferably DIY, to this problem. I know roughclaw will solve this problem but it's kinda pricy and so I'll just buy one if there's no other solution or just change to globe wimax instead of buying roughclaw. I found one practical solution here, on this thread, it's called stinger made from aluminum sheet but I cannot see diagram or attachments on this page Post is knda old but if it worked then it will still work now as it is a design for somekind of a "do it yourself" reflector. To those who know or have the design diagrams please please repost it... Thanks

  23. I'm from SoCal - been in Quezon City on Bayan Telecom (BT) for about a month and have 2 other locations on PLDT in Antipolo City. Suffice to say, none are dependably delivering what you pay for unless you remind them constantly, and then only BT does something and then only temporarily. What's rather odd is the radical differences reported by "testmy" versus "speedtest". I mean we're talkin' 1.3Mbps DIFFERENCE tonite! When I last complained, using a week's worth of testmy reports as my artillery, they "reconfigured" the pre-paid ADSL 2.3Mbps account within minutes and speed jumped from -200Kbps to 2.Mbps +or- .3 for 36 hours I verified that mytest and speedtest were within 200K of each other immediately after the reconfiguration, thus felt dependably served. Tonite it's radically different than prior to my complaint with mytest reporting under 200K and speedtest at 1.2M to Los Angeles. This I simply cannot explain. It could be that I've been downloading a good share over P2P since the reconfiguration and BT is shaping and/or capping. I'm having SkyTel Cable come in tomorrow with a free15-day 3Mbps test line at the Quezon City location. At 2,000 PHP/mo, that plan is 500 PHP (US$10.50) cheaper than the BT 2,500 PHP/mo 2.3Mbps plan that averages a good share less than 700Kbps (unless you complain using speedtest to back it up. I think my (first) complaint accompanied with about 25 mytest verifications took the wind out of their normal insistence to use speedtest.) Figure an exchange of 45 to 46 PHP (phila peso) to the US dollar lately. Oh yeah, almost forgot - - - PLDT as an ISP outside Manila Metro is.. how do I say this?.... A complete and shameless joke! The problem there - using PLDT ADSL with any bandwidth plan- isn't speed, it's achieving a frickin' connection during prime time and often at all for days at a time. We haven't found a dependable solution in Antipolo City (AC) in over 2 years and consequently opened the Quezon City branch. Complaining to PLDT in AC helps only if you happen to be in a recently upgraded zone, and then only until it becomes overloaded (experience speaking). If anyone has a suggestion for a DEPENDABLE 24/7 700+Kbps provider in Antipolo City I'D LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT IT!!!! We use the SmartBro "wireless" USB in and around Manila Metro and it does okay against the plan sold. - if you use that consistently go to their website and apply your "load card credits" to the 5-day 24/7 200PHP plan - you'll save a pocketful-o-pesos over the pay-as-you-go 1PHP/minute "loads". However, except for a few other metro areas I've heard about, anywhere in the Provinces (outside Metro Manila) it's completely hit and miss with any and every provider we've tried - wired or wireless. It appears the net cafes are given priority access to the local pipe over residential accounts. Perhaps a little PHP dressing on the side of the right luncheon date will help. It's a real shame. The people here are so honest (and poor) and their telcoms are all government-owned, thus the various labels are truly a dog-n-pony show. Rock on!
