dukebettrthanunc Posted January 19, 2006 CID Share Posted January 19, 2006 Recently got a domain on GoDaddy. I was wondering if the slightly longer than usual loading time for a website it's size was a problem on their side or a problem with my connection. www.dukerules.com Let me know how long it takes to load for you. Thanks, Matt.

FGOKURULES Posted January 19, 2006 CID Share Posted January 19, 2006 Could be Ur connection, check Ur firewall settings and "MSCONFIG" and see if you have any unnecessary programs open,, alot of Auto-update programs will consume a hell of alot of bandwidth for themselves,, or all in all Spyware/viruses are eating at you... dukebettrthanunc Posted February 21, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 21, 2006 Well, my site has finally started loading at the speeds it should (at least on my PC). Thanks for everyone's advice. I'm thinking about turning it into a free games and videos site. dukebettrthanunc Posted February 21, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 21, 2006 site loads fast for a consumer connection. what is your upload speed dukebettrthanunc? What do you mean? My upload speed at my house? Or the speed of the site? At my house, I'm connected at about 435Kbps. I have no clue about the site. Why did you want to know? --Matt www.dukerules.com

richcornucopia Posted February 21, 2006 CID Share Posted February 21, 2006 Yes but it would be much slower hosting it like that.
dukebettrthanunc Posted February 24, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 24, 2006 Yes but it would be much slower hosting it like that. Just how exactly would I do that? --Matt
php Posted February 24, 2006 CID Share Posted February 24, 2006 I'm not sure, but it's probably against Adelphia's policy to host your own webserver unless you have a business package
richcornucopia Posted February 24, 2006 CID Share Posted February 24, 2006 But if you don't care about the policy... You could use apache, or some other webserver software to host your page. You would then redirect all port 80 requests to the ip on your network of the computer which is running the webserver, same as port forwarding. So forward port 80, then when people type in your ip address in a browser it will go to the what ever your webserver is hosting. You can get a domain name, or free no-ip service to redirect to your ip so you dont have to give this out. Theoretically of course.
