mudmanc4 Posted March 24, 2008 CID Share Posted March 24, 2008 Just put the Macbook Pro online yesterday, and she's kickin chicken! Damn, it's putting out over a thousand points a day! I need at least one of you to put folding on your box for our testmy.net team (44352), we are very close to taking over another website.. It doesn't hurt a damn thing, it doesn't slow your computer down, nor does it effect in any way you bandwidth if you have broadband. Who's up?,.................. Buntz Posted March 24, 2008 CID Share Posted March 24, 2008 I just got into the top 20 in folding for TMN two week ago. I got my second computer going 24/7 running folding @ home It is nothing special just a AMD 3700+ overclocked to 2406 MHz. It can usually run a 400000 step in less than two days [ around 36 hours ]. mudmanc4 Posted March 24, 2008 CID Share Posted March 24, 2008 Frickin awesome! I saw that. It really doesn't have to be anything special, just a working cpu, I have several oldies, that I have nothing in them , running them headless, they use shit for power, and they fold pretty good
Buntz Posted March 24, 2008 CID Share Posted March 24, 2008 I am in the process of upgrading my other computer [ when Intel stop screwing us around and make some more E8400's CPU and the internet stores stop price gouging us ] my second computer will get a upgrade to a AMD 4400+, then I will have two cores running folding @ home. mudmanc4 Posted March 25, 2008 CID Share Posted March 25, 2008 That would be awesome, I don't know if it's just the apple, but the core two duo splits the folding core into four threads, and I also haven't investigated whether or not it just adds the four together, or it's actually folding four " folding cores" . So maybe this will work for you as well. If any one knows about this, please give it up, s I havent had time to read up on it yet.

As i said, make certain there are no traces of the last F@H core you had installed, they could conflict. As well as they have changed the old core to a new one. Just del the files, and re-install, if you want to keep it simple, just use the GUI, not the console. Actually both are good, just if you have any questions during installation, or setup, ask! : )

Depending on your security settings, thats what the " internet explorer setting is for, it will work no matter, just set it to "do not ask before accessing internet" or whatever. BTW for those who want to fold with us, ( team # 44352) the d/l site is http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download

mudmanc4 Posted March 26, 2008 CID Share Posted March 26, 2008 For those of you that want to run my old school way, and have two core system here is a guide. Follow it exactly! Ask any questions you may have. Team number is 44352 Type the following commands verbatim in a shell: mkdir "C:Program FilesFolding@Home" mkdir "C:Program FilesFolding@HomeThread_0" mkdir "C:Program FilesFolding@HomeThread_1 Then copy the text only client you downloaded, to each directory: copy "C:Documents and Settingsuser name hereeDesktopFAH504-Console.exe" "C:Program FilesFolding@HomeThread_0" copy "C:Documents and Settingsuser name hereDesktopFAH504-Console.exe" "C:Program FilesFolding@HomeThread_1" Pay close attention to the red, that is whatever your user name is. And 504 is the latest text core. DONT close the shell yet! We have to install them each. You MUST place the flags as shown here dudes and dudetts, otherwise it will get real messed up, and they will try to read each others info, no go thingy. Now, type cd "C:Program FilesFolding@HomeThread_0" FAH502-Console.exe -local -configonly Then it will ask a shitload of questions, most of which you can leave as default. At the end , you will see " -configonly flag given, so exiting." Then do the same thing for the second thread as follows : cd "C:Program FilesFolding@HomeThread_1" FAH502-Console.exe -local -configonly You need to merge the attached registry file when your done! Then reboot , and off you go! http://icrontic.com/images/mm/Articles/folding/folding_dual.reg EDIT: This is the windows only version

Yes , if you want the service to start automatically when the system boots. And so the answer is definitely yes., you don't want to be manually starting these services all the time. At least i don't.lol Just place it after the -local, and make sure to leave a space in between them. EDIT: I saw the att you put, just put both after the -svcstart -local As for the questions, keepem coming, if i can't answer , I'll find out.
