Guest philp Posted September 25, 2006 CID Share Posted September 25, 2006 tommie, my feathers r not in a ruffle and i hear what ur saying but that's not what my post was about...the test is not accurate and it appears that testmy some how stands behind this other site...it's not up to testmy standards...i know what u guys r saying...but it's not going to be allowed...it in fact is against the sig standards in the forum rules...and we don't advertise for other speed test sites for free (there is a link in the lefthand column for that) and it's not free, i don't think it is anyway (they'd have to ask google)... i know it looks cool...but the test is not up to our standards...i'm not trying to sound snooty but it's just a fact...we all know it like i said...compare us with the rest and come back to the best Hmm. I really didn't know it was against the rules. Glad I don't post my scores from there. I will say that the results I get from there are consistent and appear to be accurate. For me at least. tdawnaz Posted September 25, 2006 CID Share Posted September 25, 2006 My apologies. If it is in the rules, it is not that much to ask. Rules should be adhered if they are not rediculious, of which these are not. So be it. But does that mean that the hooters and whoppers are out??I do get a little confused though. So no more speed test site posts at all? Including speakeasy, VanBurens, Toast, etc... Or what exactly. I think over time it is a little hard to understand where the line actually stands. Possibly you could have CA3LE make an explicit post on the exactness of this rule, please. now now tommie...there u go again...don't take me outta context...i'm not talking about posts...we should be talking about speed tests...any speed test...is great...that's what the forum is for...what i was speaking of is big banner ads for other speed test sites in members signatures (u know...where the whole image is a link)...there is nothing confusing about that is there... and i know that the members aren't intentionally posting banner ads...it just looks cool... and hooters and whoppers r absolutely in...as long as they r covered
water Posted September 25, 2006 CID Share Posted September 25, 2006 Shoot! Now I have to put my shirt back on Tommie, this issue is about signature links only. They get posted wherever the member posts and looks as if testmy. supports these other sites, when in fact we cannot prove or disprove the validity of those sites. That's it in a nutshell. This is a speed test and computer help site. Period. We should only have speedtest links in our sigs from this site. Better? Perhaps CA3LE will validate other sites in the future, but those banner ads still violate the sig rule. *shugs* And btw, I think they're ugly so I'm volunteering my boobs and tdawnaz's butt for the testmy speedtest. I had a 10Mbps pipe from comcast a year ago and it was just under the advertised speed when i tested with them and it was quick...but not this quick! thats really damn good for a 9Mbps line. btw, welcome to the forum. Blunted 2 Posted September 30, 2006 Author CID Share Posted September 30, 2006 I dont understand why my connection isnt faster then yours since my cable modem is uncapped. there is no uncapped modem unless you did it illegally. call your isp and ask what the advertised speeds are or check your bill and it might say it there.
