bent240LV Posted November 9, 2006 CID Share Posted November 9, 2006 I want to get a new monitor and i mainly want just a good lookling image. I'm not to concerned about gaming quality. The Sony seems to have a very nice picture with the x-brite coating or whatever it is. It is glossy and pretty nice, does not have such a pixeled (SP) like other LCD's Your advice is appreciated, thanks http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7803111&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01011&id=1142293092513 NOt to sure what the difference between these two are... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7894086&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01011&id=1149205183814 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7824278&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01011&id=1142295055176 I realy like the way this one looks http://puredigitalhawaii.com/main/catalog/item/337/?module=

dlewis23 Posted November 9, 2006 CID Share Posted November 9, 2006 Thanks...im not good at technical things, what makes this better than the sony? if you dont mind me asking. its got a much higher contrast ratio, 2000:1 vs 550:1 on the sony and its much faster 2ms vs 12ms on the sony. And the samsung monitors look better too.
dnuge Posted November 9, 2006 CID Share Posted November 9, 2006 the samsung is the best choice. that response time and contrast ratio are great i just bought the samsung 204b because i wanted a 20" monitor. i already had a 19", but if i was going for a 19" THE SAMSUNG YOU PICKED IS HARD TO BEAT. (sorry for the caps)

ispgeek Posted November 9, 2006 CID Share Posted November 9, 2006 I have two of these...bought at different times and not a single bad pixel in the bunch....overall very nice and very inexpensive....I highly recommend them. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824160147R I should clarify...that is the monitor....the listing above is for open box items of it....I would suggest their next available new item which is below....any monitor from this company is going to be good based on my personal experience with them. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824160149

water Posted November 9, 2006 CID Share Posted November 9, 2006 I have to tell you as a former sales person of electronics. Sony relies on it's name to charge higher prices. They are no different than many other high quality monitors, but the Sony name brings more money. You don't need to buy the Sony to get the same quality, Samsung delivers the exact same quality for a lower price.

tommie gorman Posted November 10, 2006 CID Share Posted November 10, 2006 I have never been disappointed in SAMSUNG, although I thought at first since it was recommended by my tight and don't care about quality step dad. That it would be junk. But everything I buy of theirs seems to work well. And less expensive.

Diablo321 Posted November 18, 2006 CID Share Posted November 18, 2006 yeah samsung makes great monitors. i have a 172N 17 inch and have never had any problems with it. used to play games on it all the time and never had that "ghosting" problem people have talked about with LCD screens. mine is only vga compatible because its like 3 years old but i really cant tell the difference...
