badogece Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 i think there's no effect by tweaking your smart bro connection using cablenut. using speedtest.net, i got several readings and its not that consistent.now im about from 364 down-154up
jun101ph Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 From my experience, Tweaks using TCP optimizer or Cablenut will have noticeable effect if u have already established a better link from your antenna to the base station. Primary reason for low internet speed is due to congestion in the base station and i believe that smartbro controlled the bandwidth. latest status: :::.. drizzt1911 Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 well, as of now, I'm content with my bandwidth. since my only problem is the RSSI, then I'll borrow tomorrow morning a ladder to re-orient the canopy myself. and look for someone who can fabricate the stinger. (its really hard to climb up our roof) if I make the pole higher, will it also help in getting good signals?? here's my latest speed. :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 427 Kbps about 0.43 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 52 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 167 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 20 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/06/18 - 7:28am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-CO5UX780V U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-69AK3WRVQ User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 [!]

jun101ph Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 Your problem might be corrected if you follow my advice by adding a stinger to your antenna. If you increase further the height it may increase the RSSI a little. Line of Sight is also considered in setting up a microwave link. Noticeably your upload and download speed improves during night time since other subscribers are offline. my latest status : :::.. drizzt1911 Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 And also for those who said that their IP has been blocked.... Im not sure tho. if its really from smart or the TSR's just dumb. But I also did asked that. and they did told em the same thing. that the private IP is just for corporate. and I wont be able to use torrent on my connection. Heck. I laughed on the inside. ever since I got the connection from smartbro. I'm a seeder of torrents, and already filled a 160gb harddisk. Now if only I have constant connection, It would be much much more. hehehe I just leave my PC on for weeks, since I have work, and most of my free time I just watch animes that I have downloaded .. not really sure if the smartbro agents are really saying the truth or not. but I dont really trust them. jun101ph Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 @jolykhan try to uncheck all other installed item in Local Area Connection Properties except for the Internet Protocol and Client for Microsoft Network. Then Use TCP optimizer for tweaking.
drizzt1911 Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 @jun101ph - your probably correct, since its already night time, the connection greatly improves, ( why I didn't think of that! ) so much for wishful thinking. so I really need to have the stinger. Errr- after I put the stinger on the canopy, would I see the difference at once? or it would take some time for me to notice the speed increase/ RSSI increase? since it seems that I'll just "swak" the stinger onto the canopy ( it should slide right in right? ) no I still need to glue it onto the canopy or something? jolykahn Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 TCP optimizer? what setting will i use.. sorry but i dont know yet the tcp optimizer..
jun101ph Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 @drizzt1911 you just slip the antenna to the Stinger. You will see a noticeable increase of RSSI and jitter right away. Smartbro will not act immediately if your complaints are reported over a telephone conversation, CSR are so stupid they will just record ( just maybe) and they will just conduct stupid troubleshooting. Don't waste your saliva, much better report your concerns thru email with the speedtest results. And don't stop bugging them until they will send u a field technicians for inspection of your antenna parameters and adjustments. If ever you won't still see any improvement, followup an email and demand them to adjust their bandwidth allocation since your antenna is ok or already corrected by the technician. You will surprise on the next morning that your speed are now higher than 384 kbps. Believe me just like mine. :::.. drizzt1911 Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 wouldn't the tcpoptimiser have some issues , if the registry has already been modified by the cablenut? if not. then please post what we should do.. I'm with jolykhan. as long as it would help the connection, I'm up for it.
drizzt1911 Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 If ever that their field technicians would come over to my house "again" should I revert back my old settings on the canopy? or just leave it as is? would they report me for hacking or something, if ever they see that the canopy has been tweaked without their knowledge? BTW thanks for all the time and helpfull answers, regarding my problems. You surely gave me something to look forward to in the next coming days. ( Gonna Spam customer care like crazy ) spam so hard, they will block my smartwifi email address from their mail servers! hahahahahah
jun101ph Posted June 18, 2007 CID Share Posted June 18, 2007 TCP optimizer is very reliable and will just replace the settings by your cablenut, or you can make a backup if u like. just select your installed network adapter (LAN card), then click optimal settings. then restart your pc to take effect.
