simmie Posted June 25, 2007 CID Share Posted June 25, 2007 Hello! I was browsing the web to find a way on how to optimize my Smart Bro connection and I stumbled upon this site. Before tweaking, I tested my download and upload speed... :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 493 Kbps about 0.5 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Download Speed is:: 60 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/06/24 - 8:01pm Bottom Line:: 9X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 17.07 sec Tested from a 579 kB file and took 9.625 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 93.33 % faster than the average for host (241.161) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-CMQTH41KU User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; {AB0858D8-16A1-AF2A-B7D6-84BCBECCE0E5}; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; MEGAUPLOAD 1.0) [!] :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Upload Connection is:: 449 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 748 kB) Upload Speed is:: 55 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/06/24 - 7:41pm Bottom Line:: 8X faster than 56K 1MB Upload in 18.62 sec Tested from a 748 kB file and took 13.64 seconds to complete Upload Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 82.52 % faster than the average for host (241.161) U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-WK7X913NH User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; {AB0858D8-16A1-AF2A-B7D6-84BCBECCE0E5}; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; MEGAUPLOAD 1.0) [!] Upon tweaking it by going to the Canopy, the test results became negative. Instead of increasing, the download speed decreased into about 200kbps (sorry I wasn't able to copy the results). Does this mean my Smart Bro connection is running in its maximum performance? Secondly, the MIR Bandwidth Settings in the Configuration of my Canopy is different from the screenshot posted by elijahpaul. My range (in kbps) for the Sustained Uplink and Downlink Data Rate is 0-7000kbps. That's why when I was able to enter the Canopy page, I noticed that the my default range was 3500kbps. The one given by elijahpaul is 500 with the 0-1000kbps range. My Uplink and Downlink Burst Allocation range (in kbits) is 0-500000kbits. My default range is in 500000kbits. Is my Canopy different from the usual. I am just new to this site. Hope anyone can entertain my questions. Thanks.
jun101ph Posted June 25, 2007 CID Share Posted June 25, 2007 Hello simmie, I guess u do have different canopy version (either antenna and or firmware). Your results before tweaking are quite high (384kbps - max published download rate by Smart) Based on my observation the maximum download rate is around 70 kbps. freelancerage Posted June 25, 2007 CID Share Posted June 25, 2007 well, basically i'm also a tech support on dsl but for an ISP in the US called Verizon..which is far better than any other ISP here in the Philippines well at the time of this writing..it's day 7, 1 wk since i've got smart bro i'm so pissed off with the service, i just curse the equipment instead of cursing tech supports there in smart you can't believe that this is the first time an Internet connection much higher Upload speeds than download...serious now here's the story..if anyone could help me...thanks so much..let me be your slave...hehehe before i found this thread..i was exploring canopy..coz the tech that installed the equipment wasn't aware that i'll check it out i just found out smartbro is on DHCP connection i tried enabling DHCP..then kaboom..i could not access canopy tried the steps here but nothing worked i went up there and checked the canopy itself then tried to hard reset the equipment but it just gave me difficulties of going down the roof anyway here's the question..is there anyway to hard reset the canopy for me to access it again? there's a hole there in canopy but it's doesn't make any sense at all.... any suggestions???.... gourame Posted June 25, 2007 CID Share Posted June 25, 2007 ow that one setting shouldn't have been touched. by the way you might try to access your canopy via the reset plug, how its done is covered much already in elijahpauls smartbro tweaks. good luck bro. i know its frustrating goin up and and down but you must do that. reset first and we'll try to make suggestions on how the tweak should be done the next time around. jun101ph Posted June 25, 2007 CID Share Posted June 25, 2007 @jonathan, possible cause ang base station because parati yun nagfluctuate ang bandwidth. and it could also be your antenna parameters (RSSI is less than 500 and jitter is high)
