Canopy Screwing Up!

have you tried doing some "system restore"?. try to revert system back to a time before your lan card speed setting screwed up.

Heavenandhell I suggest to reset your TCP/IP.

To reset TCP/IP, go to the Start menu, select Run, type CMD and then hit enter. Once at the command prompt, type: netsh int ip reset iplog.txt. give a try.

@heavenandhell, I believe it won't matter whether your Line speed of the LAN card is 100 Mbps or 10 Mbps since smartbro internet won't reached that speed

ohh so it is ok to have that lan status? because before when my lan status is 100Mbps, my connection speed never drops from 400Kbps. but when it was changed (i dont know how but i remembered using that QuickFix thingy) my speed never reached even 100 Kbps. anyway thanks to all your suggestions and efforts jun101ph and coolbuster2007

yeah i believe so, but if you believe that it really matters then let's try to find a way to bring it back to 100 Mbps

@heavenandhell you can also try uninstalling your LAN card and then reinstall it back. The purpose is to refresh the driver and might correct the problem (in every troubleshooting it always involve trial and error)

The problem might be also on the Canopy settings, there  is a LAN settings in there and the setting might have changed from 100 Mbps to 10 Mbps only.

i cant properly access my canopy. whenever i access it, others account information is displayed instead of mine.

If the LAN card's line speed  is set to autodetect, I think it only detects 10 Mbps link from your canopy to the LAN card since the canopy settings might have been accidentally changed from 100 to 10 Mbps.

that is absolutely correct.

SmartBro can't give us even 1 mbps unless we enrol to a higher plan.

On the other hand, what I suspect with the sudden drop of your speed is that there might have been a remote re-configuration of your canopy settings. but i could be wrong.

Yeah right, Operators can access our canopy and make some changes on the settings. Although it is risky but you can restore the canopy settings to its factory settings

If you still can access your canopy, try to reset it to factory settings (NOT RECOMMENDED though), kinda risky

I would suggest if you can access your canopy platform, check your Link speed first and all the box must be checked.

I wanted to help a friend. She wants to access the canopy using the Mac (physical) Address. Do u have a post relative to this?

yeah right restoring to factory settings is very risky especially for people who are not familiar with these things.

I have posted that topic before.

First you are going to do is to have the MAC address of the Canopy.

For example the mac address is 00:0C:F1:83:23:C7,

next is to convert the last 3 hex numbers to decimal,

83 ----> 131

23 ----> 35

C7-----> 199

then the IP address of the canopy is 10.131.35.199

. The 10 is added as the first number in the IP.

To access the canopy,

set TCP/IP to  the Obtain IP address and type 10.131.35.199 for the IP address and Submask: 255.0.0.0 ,

Then access http://10.131.35.199 to the browser.

I have to correct my self, change the last number in the IP to 1,

10.131.35.1 <----- instead of 10.131.35.199

you don't have to look for a website you can use the calculator on your windows xp,

go to start > all programs > accessories > calculator.

then on the calculator, change the view to scientific to view the hex conversion option.

this is what ive done to restore my connection:

1. uninstall that quickfix 2.0 crap

2. manually set my IP to 169.254.1.2 then subnet mask to 255.255.0.0

3. now that i can access the canopy again, i checked (general tab)both the 100 full and half duplex link speeds, enabled 2X rate, and changed the network accessibility(IP tab) to local. This can all be found on the configurations page.

4. save changes then reboot.

well im no expert i just based the settings on screenshots of canopy settings.

can someone here post their canopy settings?

gorge that is only applicable if your canopy IP address is set to its default, but if the installer have change it then you will need the MAC address thing.

yeah that's what ive read from another forum... it only works when the canopy address is set to default.

Installers now a days are required to change the default IP to an IP address converted from a mac address.
