New 35/35 FIOS :)

As the topic says, got upgraded to 35/35 ; I would LOVE to show you some testmy.net results but once again im havng a problem with testmy's testing engine.... The download is fine, but the upload doesn't work. It uploads at full speed, but than just STOPS when the upload amount finishes and takes 7 - 10 seconds to get to the results page .. which kills my upload results. This time i really do not feel like formatting my drive again.

So here we go :D

Yeah, that's a really weird problem. It doesn't surprise me that TestMy is the only one effected, because I use a completely different method for testing. But you really need to ask why this keeps happening on your computer. Because if it's effecting the upload results here... I can almost guarantee that it's effecting ALL of your form submission uploads through your browser. It may not effect other protocols however...

I bet it's some program or browser add-on. If I had to guess it's most likely some type of security software that's lagging your form submission. Probably parsing the form data to make sure your sending safe information... Disable anything like that and try using Firefox. ;)

Like I've said before, the tests here are much more sensitive than other speed tests. This is intentional. You're here to find what may be slowing you down... right?

Let me know when you figure out what it is. I'm curious. ;)

It has something to do with a windows update. My moms and grandmothers PC do the same thing with testmy's speed test. Neither one of them use any kind of software on their computers. They check their email and turn them off. No additional / weird software like on mine. Its some windows 7 update doing it.

Also if a format fixed it last time it could be registry related try creating a new user so that you have a fresh user reg to test on

New guest account, never used.

If it makes you feel any better , on this 50 Mb connection I max out around 12-13 Mb when testing. Drives me crazy ! Several machines windows mac , and linux all about the same thing , although chrome gives a closer upload , same download.

Wiped the drive started over , same thing , new drive , same thing , spent a month with ISP tech , got things at the node straightened out and found a massive botnet that had done some sort of DNS hacking on the ISP's internal network hahaha , so for the most part I'm downloading fine here , but the tests show the same thing as they have.

Feel better ? didnt think so lol

Hey xs1, if you disable your sharing you'll see the new graphing system ;) --- also when results sharing is disabled you can hide that "PC speed test" ad by clicking the little X in the top right. Sharing has to be disabled though because of a bug that I'm temporarily working around. ;-) -- I have to rewrite some of the sharing shniz.

ca3le, any word on the video?

You have to have something funky going on with your browser or something. For me, no matter what size I pick as soon as the transfer is complete my results are shown. Tested in Windows, Mac and Linux in every browser under the sun. As long as you don't have an issue with your browsers form submission you should get correct results... a program you've installed may be at fault. The test is working as it should, it's just telling you in it's own way that there's something going on with your form submission. If you upload a video to youtube you should have a similar lag like that... other tests can't show you this because they upload using a different protocol. If you're like me you upload lots of stuff through your browser, so that's a good number to know... you're obviously uploading faster than the results are showing BUT that pause between pages at the end is what dings you. You need to figure out what's causing that. I would imagine that you're less effected the smaller the test size is, right?

TestMy says, "I just calls it hows I sees it!"

I thought the same thing! Browser is screwy or something.... till i tried every living browser there is under wiki's list. EVERY one.. The problem is, this started with a windows update.. Its not just my PC. Its my moms, & grandmothers too. They dont have anything screwy installed on theirs as mine may. Every time i reformat it always works fine. I have 3 completely different computers , all running windows 7 ( 2 of them on home, mine on ultimate) and a laptop also running windows 7 ( which so far isnt effected) that all have the same problem with the upload portion. Uploads to other sites, whether speed test or otherwise, the upload is fine. I upload to uploadingit.com and other sites via ftp & web; speeds exactly where they should be. So really, i just dont know. Even "old TMN" is effected. Its only our style of testing here at testmy , on 3 completely different models of pc.

damn, 25Mbps! Not fair.

I wonder why your download is now slower in Firefox. Does your computer tend to have a mind of it's own? Stupid ass Windows!

The reason I'll be revisiting the upload test in the next versions is because of crazy connections like yours. But then again, the last time I did heavy development on the upload test logic I had a 20Mbps upload myself and I found it to be very accurate on my testing platform. :icon_scratch: ... there's a bunch of extra stuff I want that program to do anyways so I'll have fun working on that section again. ... But trust me, any issues that YOU might be having are well outside of the normal because of how extreme your upload speed is. Also, most users don't have so much porn and spyware on their computer to confuse things. Just kidding dude. :laughing7:
