tommie gorman Posted February 11, 2006 CID Share Posted February 11, 2006 Checked his recent posts and all he does is post speed tests. Hmm.Pretty good though. Just wonder why he does not converse. Oh well each to his own. 4000 Hmm, maybe I should look into one of those. They run much faster downloads then right. Would I be required to redo contract if I owned own equipment. And easier to tweak then? Well another possibility. Wonder how much one could be picked up for? Anybody know of one for sell?

tommie gorman Posted February 11, 2006 CID Share Posted February 11, 2006 Any operational downside to running one? Probably need professional install again right?
Bird Fan Posted February 12, 2006 CID Share Posted February 12, 2006 Any operational downside to running one? Probably need professional install again right? I think you can install one yourself... All you need is the modem. Ask some of the guys in the Direcway forum at dslreports.

Bird Fan Posted February 12, 2006 CID Share Posted February 12, 2006 Hello bird fan, long time no see . My speeds are up from normal here lately to!! Do you have any other Cablenut Settings for me to try? It's hard to tweak a self-hosted modem. Unless some settings are seriously wrong in Windows, you won't seee much improvement. Post a speed test and I uploaded my tweaks below; they're for dialup.

Mtnfolk Posted February 15, 2006 CID Share Posted February 15, 2006 Ok guys I have the DW4000 and tweaks, not on pro plan. Reason I do not post is when I do some people, do listen to my suggestions or call me a liar. I have had DW4000 for over 3 years now. I tried the DW6000 and did not care for it and went back to the DW4000 a year ago and no extra charge. I did have to keep the DW6000, which I sold. Hope this helps. :::.. jkandra Posted February 15, 2006 CID Share Posted February 15, 2006 Private What are your tweaks that you use. I don't get those kind of speeds. It would be nice to get them. PLEASE SHARE
Mtnfolk Posted February 16, 2006 CID Share Posted February 16, 2006 I use TCP Optimizer from Speedguide.net and basic cable nut settings. If you look thur the DW4000 post from last year you will find several different tweaks for the DW4000. Once you tweak your PC leave them for couple of weeks before changing them to a different setting. I am only running one PC on SatMex 5. Tbrown Posted February 16, 2006 CID Share Posted February 16, 2006 Does Cablenut support Windows XP? Because where you choose your operating system, it has Windows 95, windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows 2000..but no XP
Mtnfolk Posted February 16, 2006 CID Share Posted February 16, 2006 Yes cablenut does support xp, I run just the basic for XP. I also run TCP optimizer from speedguide.net. At one time the setting was in the DW4000 fourm.

Tbrown Posted February 16, 2006 CID Share Posted February 16, 2006 But it doesn't have windows XP in the operating system selection! So do I just click on Windows ME or Windows 2000? Sorry, I'm not familiar with cablenut at all. I know what settings to put in there, it's just that when you choose your Operating System it doesn't have XP listed I've got Cablenut 4.08, I'm pretty sure that's the latest version right?
