Ok like I was under ALL the different boot option and orders..there was LS something, CD-Rom, HDD, Floppy etc. The LS one is ACTUALLY my DVD burner, but when I select it it doesn't make my DVd burner first boot. I have to use the cd-rom option. Got it? I am happy now though!!!

Actually I totally fixed it now! But one thing I have to ask, Ok before in BIOS my dvd burner reads as LS something..So I set that to first boot nothing loads, no I tried cd-rom..why would CD rom work but not the one actually named my drive?

Wow I have another weird problem. I got everything to work right again by removing the covertype deal thing off any of the pins on the DVD drive. Would it hurt it if I left it off?

Yeah they are both hooked up to seperate IDE cables and am in BIOS and it shows both there.

Like I said though again. The disc boots without the Hard Drive connected for some odd reason, but with the HDD connected I get nothing.

It's burnt, and yeah I have the original to. Like to keep back ups so I do not scratch original but yeah neither original or burnt work.

Tried all of it. Right now I have two seperate IDE cables, both set to Master. It's also set to load up DVD Burner first. We tried clearing CMOS, nothing. My dad thinks the HDD shorted and is causing it. I don't get why the DVD burner will play the windows disc without HDD connected to the system, but when both are connected just loads up saying missing OS. Do you think a HDD short caused this'?

This is the weirdest thing I have seen EVER. The disc drive loads the windows disc fine with the HDD unplugged. Then plug it back in and nothing just says missing operating system and will not load a disc.

My dvd burner will not read so I can install windows..but it works fine if I remove the HDD.. tried reseting the cmos, and yeah getting mad!

6 floppy you mean? I would like to get the DVD Rom to work so I am done with everything and have nothing to mess with. I don't see what else could be the problem.

Here I will try and make this a little more sense for all of you. Here is the story! I wanted to install the Vista Beta so I decided to try and add an extra HDD to my system but had no luck. I gave up on that, and put everything back in and got blue screen on my 250gb hdd which is my good one. So yeah it wouldn't load jack just kept restarting, so I formatted it and now when it loads it say missing operating system, good for right now. and now I need to get the dvd drive to work.

No idea what you just said there are two IDE slots on my MOBO. I have 1 going to HDD and 2 going to DVD Burner...They are both set to Master. What else could be the problem? Soooo frustrating, I need to get back to real PCing lol.

yes everything was running fine. but then I hooked everything back up to normal and nothing. but if I unplug the HDD it loads the XP disc then detects there is no HDD to save windows to.

Ok I reset the CMOS. It shows HDD as Master and the Burner as Master. Still nothing loads from the Burner drive. Ugh getting upset, is something wrecked?

Yupp and if I unhook the HDD the disk loads lol!

Yupp I see both...And yes they are both set to Master! Do you think if I clear the CMOS it would work? Or what about updating the BIOS?

Ok well i just hooked it up exactly like you said and...nothing still! Yay this blows for me lol.

I have them both hooked to same IDE cable now like I orginally did when they worked. In the BIOS it shows HDD as Slave though and DVD Drive as Master...But that's not what it is set to on the back of them.

They are on there own cables now. Both Master now and still not loading a disk. VERY ODD that it will load a disk with the HDD unhook...

Ok they are both set to there own cables now. I am at "Missing Operating System" screen now. I have my Windows disk in but it's not reading it.
