I'm choosing servers with less than ten players - in COOP mode - ie, enemys are AI's . . . the AI's are alot smarter than facing 'live' opponents ~ lol ~

  3. I'm "Testing" new settings in my Registry and with CableNut Adjuster. First, I re-set my MSS to 1432 and my MTU to 1472. reason: I start to experience packet fragmentation after 1472. 5. well, besides bein' the idiot that I am ~ I was trying to connect from myE:Drive ~ where I have another bootable Win XP installed ~ just for me and my on-line gaming. I did change all my settings, though ~ had to turn off MS MCCP software compression and go with modom hardware compression. . . .so my speeds are like 'normal' now (at least on my E:Drive) what's really strange, now - is Web pages load alot faster! so, I guess there are pros and cons with software vs. hardware compression! 7. netmasta ; I've got 'Hyperterminal' on my E:/ Drive. check out ~ Registrar Lite ~ http://www.resplendence.com Runs on: WinXP/Win2000/NT/ME/9x ...and it's free! It allows cutting, pasting, copying, and moving of keys and values as if it were Windows Explorer. It has extensive search and replace capabilities, a bookmark editor that optionally colors bookmarked keys and adds key descriptions, flexible value editors that allow importing data from files. Editors allowing you to set registry key permissions, auditing and ownership have been added. Registrar offers a powerful tool to search the registry or a specified key for text occurrences, binary data or regular expressions. Matching items can optionally be replaced with other text, deleted, or exported to a registry file. offers the feature to quickly compare the contents of two registry keys to check whether their contents are the same
  8. . . .lol ~ there's just too many settings for a dang modem ~ what is? like over 150+ I ran across this utility in Help and Support last night. . . . it scrolls out about 3 pages of stuff.
  9. well, I did a registry search and found a 109 entries for MSMQ ~ mostly all default settings. so it's gonna take some time to find that 'one' setting that diables it ~ lol . . . to disable TCP nagling. It has valid values of "0" and "1", with a default of "0" (enable nagling). By default, message queuing enables nagling on the TCP sockets it uses. Enabling nagling here improves overall performance, but it might briefly delay transmission of smaller packets. You can add this entry to the registry with a value of "1" to disable nagling, as the following code illustrates, if the delay is undesirable or unacceptable. 10. cholla ; guess what ~ I'm comin' at ya from my E:/ Drive ~ WOO HOO!! man, I spent all night in safe mode trying to figure it out ~ I was in and out of every nook and cranny ~ up and down the Registry ~ going through every preformance log, manager ~ things I didn't even know I had ~ XP has one great Help and Support program w/ some neat tools. well, I did un-install TcpIP protocals and reinstall - but I still couldn't get that darn Wizard to let me create a new connection ~ I did every kind of policy tweak I could figure. man, I don't how or why ~ but all of a sudden my 'Dial-Up' connect window pops up and wow. so, I double check all the properties and settings and connect. Guess where it was hiding? . . .In my Internet Options folder ~ lol under connections!! sitting there all by it's self. . . .geez@laweez I'm gonna have to go ~ In the process of trying to connect all night ~ I've got every port open and I already got a warning from my AV Oh, wow ..a lot of frickin up-dates from Microsoft. BBL
  11. I agree ~ it is server side, but if the test servers or his ISP server are connected through Congent ~ then that might be a reason (maybe) for some problems right now, for some. I just know alot of on-line gaming sites have been having this problem, lately, also.
  12. cak46 ; everything with the modem is fine. I did dis-able the local connection for Comcast. It's just that when I try to make a 'new' connection w/ Network Connections or Network Connection Wizard ~ it won't let me 'click on' the add/make new connection - it's kinda whited out. So, I think it has to be some setting in the Registry ~ anyone know where I could look for the 'Network Connections' or 'Wizard' in the Registry - or what they would be called?
  13. Welcome XE ; like everyone's said 'AWESOME speeds' and your pretty much at or better than your 'cap'. We have a new "Dial-up" section ~ just click on my hyperlink in my sig. There's only two of us(now three, hopefully) Cholla and myself.
  14. I know I've posted this in All Dial-Up ~ but most people arn't gonna venture 'way down yonder' to see it ~ so I'm posting it again, here. My hard drive is partioned 3 ways; C Drive; D Drive; and E Drive; C Drive was partioned for the 'Family Accounts'
  15. silly me, then ~ I thought it wasn't relative, anymore? (or maybe I was just protecting the not so 'broad' minded responses) ~ lol
  16. Network feud leads to Net blackout http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-5889592.html Two major Internet backbone companies are feuding, potentially cutting off significant swaths of the Internet for some of each other's customers. Level 3 contends that its arrangement with Cogent is no longer financially viable, since it is larger than the other company. It has asked Cogent to seek other arrangements, possibly including paying for the traffic exchange, a Level 3 representative said. On Wednesday, October 5 2005 Level 3 Communications, one of the major Internet backbone providers, decided to cut their peering (sending network traffic to another network) with Cogent, another major provider. What does this mean? Users on a Level 3 network will not be able to connect to a user on a Cogent network. It has been estimated that somewhere around 10% of Internet users will experience a problem connecting to another user or service. Unfortunately, many of your ISPs offer service provided by the Level 3 network (Roadrunner and Time Warner are a couple of the big ones) Level 3 Communications has restored the peering connections to the Cogent network. Some users may still experience slower than usual connections while the network connections are reestablished. More information is available here:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9614960/
