I never have Quick Time running except upon rompt. It is a real resource hog. Ctrl+Alt+Delete will show running processes. start*run*type msconfig*enter. That will shut doewn unneccessary items. I only run my security items. AVG Free, AVG antispyware, and my Windows Defender. Nothing else is running in my background. It helps. Are you running Norton for your AV? So many things to check.
