  1. lol.. Now I don't have to click on the banner on the party page to go there
  2. What if you run out of it on the highway on September 1st and you do not want to buy gas on that day? .. lol .. that sounds pretty stupid
  3. Maybe it was 16.. I don't know.. But it was still a big sum..
  4. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1537142&CatId=1914 It costs 400$, but it comes with hdd, 512mb of memory, media card reader and AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (2.4GHz socket 754) and 400W PS.. You could sell the hdd and memory if you don't need them and old motherboard and PS if they don't support this processor and buy a video card with those money EDIT: It costs 599 but the discount expires tomorrow (August 31), but its still a good deal
  5. Some trial programs connect to their servers to check trial periods or reg keys.. I never actually tried the time glitch and I don't think I will
  6. i hope they don't use those free keys as an excuse to intrude the users' privacy.. cuz not many companies give away free reg keys for aniversaries..
  7. For once, I'm glad to use IE!!.. lol
  8. I got a letter on my door in Canada saying the same stuff (copy from some chain email a guy received to not buying gas), but the date was September 1st.. It was a chain letter btw.. I wonder how many ppl would risk running out of gas and using public transport or in the worst case, losing their jobs
  9. Maybe they shut it down to make a government anti-warez site now .. name would kinda suit it
  10. i heard damages are over 60 billion dollars, and that's just insurance.. pretty bad
  11. Sorry I couldn't help more, but if you have the same problem after reinstalling windows, try using another BT program (examples of other programs are in my 1st reply)
  12. Well, if you had SP2, I could've said that it had to deal with that, but since you don't have it I have no idea what causes this.. It could be from your new ISP or some program.. My advice is to reinstall or repair windows.. Sometimes those problems come from the OS itself..
  13. Well, I don't know for ProtoWall, but PeerGuardian blocks advertising from some websites (e.g.: MSN, Yahoo...) and can cause them not to load, but you can disable that through opening Peer Guardian and clicking on allow HTTP or just closing the firewall completely.. Since this problem was occuring before, one cause for it could be the windows hosts file located in the drivers/etc folder in the system folder (e.g.: C:Windowssystem32driversetc), but this could hardly be the reason for it, cuz u could access the internet before using BitLord.. Maybe something alters your hosts file not to allow certain websites to load (hosts file tells windows what connections to reject).. I don't know how ProtoWall blocks connections or if it blocks them at all, but it could alter the hosts file to block some connnections if it has that function.. But I think that can hardly be it.. What Operating System and Service pack do you have installed on your pc? Windows XP and SP2?
  14. Its still available for download from download.com and other sites, but there is no support for it no more (no bug resolution).. Its the only free one that works.. I also tried various other that work with the hosts file, but they screw up IE, and this one doesn't.. I hope it doesn't transmit any personal info like surfing habits
  15. As far as I can see, nothing wrong is running on your system.. Maybe something from the ProtoWall gets messed up and therefore stops Windows from operating successfully.. You might want to check out Peer Guardian 2 firewall, which does not cause me any problems while surfing for ads and other
  16. Here is one comment from the download.com website user review: I would recommend using other clients such as ABC or Azureus (which is for more powerful computers). As for the other problem of yours with the webpages, if you could please post a log from a hijackthis scan as a reply, it will help us to see if you have any spyware that may cause this problem. Also, before running a scan with Hijackthis, please scan your computer(s) with Ad-aware and Spybot search & destroy if you haven't done so already.. EDIT: Since I saw your edit after posting, this could also be caused by the number of connections that are made by this BT program, cuz if you have a large number of incoming and outgoing connections regardless of the downloading/uploading speed, they can slow down your internet, cuz BT tries to keep up those connections (when connected to peers or seeds).. I don't think this applies here as your connection is broadband, but it possibly could.. Since your router is wireless, someone could've hacked into your internet connection as well, but I have no experience with wireless routers and cannot help you there unfortunately.. Lets hope its one of the others
  17. Well, Download.com rates it 5/5 (editors review) and it is discontinued (no more support for bugs), but I didn't read the company of GoGoData.com's website Privacy stuff.. I haven't even opened their site, but I don't know if they collect any information.. I hope they don't, but they may because 2 other programs run with windows from the toolbar (Tray Icon and AdServer which I think blocks the ads)..
  18. Anyone heard of the GoGoData.com toolbar? I dont know if it has spyware (claims it doesnt, but I'll run multiple scans anyway), but it has pop-up and ad blocker and its all free. It also has search features, password managers and other pointless stuff, and the ad blocking actually works perfectly every single time .. Anyone have any experience with it, please post a reply .. Thanks in advance
  19. Well, if you download stuff on the pc that uses 90% (or is to use 90 percent), then some programs (mIRC for instance) allow internet bandwidth to be used by other pc's on the router (in the LAN) as well.. The download or upload speeds go down a bit for a while when the other pc uses the net but then it goes back to normal.. Of course for best results you can use net bandwidth limiting programs (e.g.: NetLimiter), but then you can use only 90% of your connection even if the other pc doesn't use any bandwidth at all..
  20. For what price? Cuz if its more than 150$, noone is gonna buy it.. Well, someone's gonna buy it for personal use but I won't
  21. I just saw it pop up in help and thought it was new.. sorry about that then
  22. You're right.. I always assumed it was the same speed cuz I was in the city and probably close to where their CO office is..
  23. Since the post above is too long, I'll post a new message .. Now I restored some of the ATI Catalyst Services (that start with windows) that I removed before - Ati HotKey Poller and the ATI Catalyst System tray icon.. After restoring them, there are 2 instances of wmiprvse.exe (one shown as a system service, the other one as a network one in task manager, but none of them are shown in the services window (services.msc)).. They both quit after a while, but the network one returns after denying the connection or I think its possibly when a game is started.. It also returns when opening the Catalyst Control Panel.. Is this transmitting any personal info..? EDIT: I now uninstalled the ATI Catalyst Control Center and went with its Control Panel bundle, but the connection is still there, except that the network service isn't in task manager any more.. Is this connection part of the new video driver or something? Also, on uninstall ATI Catalyst did not remove its services, but I've stopped them (ATI Smart and HotKey Poller)..
