  1. Well, since the drive is so popular and reliable, I would think that its company's software is pretty good as well, but I have never used it or the other one that you mentioned.. Most programs (including Windows Media Player rip audio cds), so you won't have a problem backing them up anyways..
  2. maybe its just the server, or peak times, but doesn't seem likely since you had no problems for 2 years.. do you use your internet bandwidth otherwise while playing cs (e.g.: downloading, uploading..)?
  3. No problems.. That's what this forum is set up for (at least one of the reasons why) .. With the ps/2 connection, you can even go into windows boot menus (F8 key during startup) and everything ..
  4. No further reply, eh? .. Did you fix the problem, BlazingSpeed?
  5. If you have a software firewall installed and have not opened a port for the BT program, that could be a problem.. Additionally, the dynamic IP could pose a problem, if you do not sign in to the tracker before leeching something, as your account would use your old IP and not the current one, if you disconnected from the Internet before.. Do you have a software firewall installed?
  6. That is not going to change anything, because if the connection is too fast for the current testing file, the testmy.net servers are going to try a larger and more suitable file for the tested connections.. That's how it is with my connection.. If I try the smallest files when testing, the servers send me to the 3mb for download and 1 mb for upload
  7. I never had any experience with laptops, but it may be from the Internet connection or the installed software as other people suggested.. Hope nothing like this happens to me when I buy a laptop, cuz I hate all of those unexpected problems..
  8. If the direction of the attacks is in, and you couldn't find any spyware/viruses on your pc, then the IP's that are trying to access that port on your pc are infected and may have gotten your IP off of some website, or just randomly selected it (pure luck) .. If you want, you can post a Hijackthis log, in order for us to verify that there are really no malware programs running on your pc or embedded in your programs such as IE, cuz that message/comment from Kerio about the trojan may or may not be true..
  9. I got the same kind of keyboard, but I can't use it on a USB port when typing on the command prompt (e.g.: before entering Windows setup (installer) from BIOS or whatever the black DOS thing is called ).. If you entered the Windows Install program from the command prompt (did you start to install windows from the command prompt or from another previous windows installation?), then it should be alright.. If the problem is not with the keyboard keys or anything, then one of those converters for USB keyboards to PS/2 should fix it (my multimedia keyboard came with it..)
  10. It could be because a current installation of windows was on that partition, or because the boot file was there.. Anyways, your suggestion works.. Reformat the file system, partition the hdd again and install the OS.. That's what I did the first time
  11. The problem occurred when I tried to install Windows XP on the hard drive.. The hdd was already ntfs converted from before and the OS installed didn't recognize one of its partitions (C:).. I may have deleted manually the old system files after installing the new OS and editing the boot settings file for single OS boot to occur.. I am pretty sure that I didn't reformat that particular partition (C:).. On my other pc, I had the same problem.. I couldn't even switch to the C: partition from the command prompt before installing the new OS.. It said there was no such partition, and didn't even list it afterwards in the OS installer.. That's just a problem I had (not a current problem).. Any suggestions to this strange situation or answers why this happened would be appreciated..
  12. Hi. I had Windows XP and 98 installed and re-installed a couple of times on my new pc, but the last time i had to re-install windows, the OS installed didn't show one partition (main one -> C: ). I think I installed windows on a new partition (E: or something) and then deleted all the old windows OS files from the old partition, but I may have manually deleted the old OS system files before installing the new ones from the command line with the rescue disk, because I don't trust reinstall (good old manual delete and install works every time ).. My question is why the OS installer and the command line program (using the system rescue diskette) didn't show all of the partitions of my hard drive when all of it is formatted as ntfs.. Is this related to the file system type (of each partition or all of them) or if it is because of something else.. Thanks in advance for any replies..
  13. Good for you.. I still go with cable though.. Had DSL before, but it was from the slowest ones (128k).. For me, cable is enough
  14. I've been using Trend Micro before too.. Its simply the best.. After Norton didn't detect a virus, I searched on the net and a couple of sites showed TM suite as the best one..
  15. Damn.. The title of the topic made my day..
  16. Everybody hopes for 15/2 net.. lol .. but then they are probably going to put caps on net usage and bandwidth, cuz 15/2 mbits dl/ul speeds are crazy and people are just going to make the bandwidth go through the roof..
  17. I hope that dial up doesnt tie up the phone lines if you dl files from websites.. lol
  18. Some nice speeds in this post .. Wish I had that ISP
  19. That's true.. However, Ad-aware deletes files that cannot be deleted during current scan on next system start-up.. I believe a screen like disk check (blue screen) comes up before the welcome to windows screen and the files get deleted, or something similar to this.. If ad-aware cannot delete the file, safe mode is the only other option
  20. I've reviewed your hijackthis log.. First of all, please download and do a spyware scan on your pc using Ad-aware. It is going to find some things.. I believe the following files are spyware and if ad-aware or AVG doesn't detect them, please remove them by scanning again with hijackthis, clicking on the box beside them and clicking on the fix button afterwards: C:WINDOWSsystem32wsrchc3.dll C:WINDOWSuckvjq.exe
  21. If you have the time or avg and ad-aware don't find anything that solves the problem, you may want to run the program Hijackthis. Open the .exe file and click on scan and save logfile.. After scanning post the log here, so we can see if there is any malicious program running in the background that may cause this problem with the display settings.. Hope AVG and ad-aware help though
  22. I used Kerio before.. I dont know about any free version, but it is a pretty decent firewall
  23. To edit your boot file, go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced tab -> Startup and Recovery Settings. On the window that pops up, click on edit the startup options.. There just delete the entry for longhorn with the other stuff for it (delay time..).. Have a backup of the original file first.. When it opens up in Notepad, save it someplace else with a different filename, so you can fix it later if you have to.. Sorry I cannot help more..
