Problems with testmy.net?
CA3LE replied to Sgt Slaughter's topic in Ideas to make testmy.net better?
I got that all fixed. the MySQL server crashed because I had forgotten to write a disconnect in the results script... so instead of disconnecting after the short command that the results script gives mySQL it queued up a crap load of tasks... this timeout after a while but can bog a server down with the kind of traffic testmy.net gets .... But it's alllllll goooooood now, server load is down and everything looks to be running just fine. -
JESUS... --- guys look at his averages also .. https://testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=comp_id&q=625357222604

I have rewritten the method that I use to log test scores to the mySQL server. I used to have the test results page send a request to a 3rd party script which in turn added the data to the database. I basically cut out the middle man and now the results page takes care of this itself... trust me there originally was a very good reason why I had the middle man in the first place, but now it wasn't necessary because of other updates I have made. This update will most likely be a silent one for most users, many people will not see a difference. But on the server-side data will be entered more quickly and some users who were having problems with logging before (cholla.. your one I think) will not have problems now... because your firewall doesn't think my site is doing something fishy (I can see how some firewalls would think that was fishy... shit it was sending a hidden request.. hehe) Enjoy! ~~ I will try to think of other ways to make this better here, can't wait to get the multi-server setup going

Make Money Just For Being On The Internet. Shit Really Works
CA3LE replied to hoodlegend's topic in General Discussion
hoodlegend. Posting sponsor links is prohibited here. This is a warning. My definition of this is a link to something that you stand to benefit from financially. You CAN for instance link to a website that offers a program for download, and in some cases I will allow links to programs that cost money... but you can't link to that site if you or anyone else is selling that program through an affiliate program. Sorry -
Do you have any internet security programs?
-
turn off your firewall
-
Your getting over 1 Mbps, that's not that bad... what did they quote you?
-
God - DirecWay must really suck balls. Everyone is ALWAYS talking crap about them and people actually start whole websites about how much they suck. lol
-
very nice, I need to remember that one
-
Oh yea... Trial-By-Fire ~~ only way to learn..... this is how I have learned everything on computers, I break it and have to put it back together
-
Do you have any firewalls running?

See... I don't have that problem. And it would be very hard for your browser to cahce any of my tests. Change your browsers max cache size to 5000 (or about 5MB) this may fix the problem. With highspeed it really doesn't need to be bigger than that Here are my scores, I scored lower on the retest... upload was the same either way. that program works great. I use it to simulate slower connections so I can test the accuracy of my tests

Try this first.. Open > https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=65 -- open the EXE inside, don't worry I assure you it's safe Click DSL > check Modify All Network Adapters > click Optimal Settings > Click APPLY ~~~ reboot and re-test ~~ post what you get and we will see from there if we can tweak you anymore

Actually you are so close to where it wouldn't have said that. At 90% you are in great shape. Plus, keep in mind that this is an average for your host overall. If some people on your host have better packages (like they pay for 3 Mbps connection or something) this may change the idea of what's ideal. What package do you have with your host? You may want to check out this tweak guide post .. over in the guides section of the site >> www.testmy.net/topic-1013

Try unplugging your modem for few seconds and plug it back in. This will manually make your modem request settings. This may help you get the new settings faster than waiting. Re-Test after and let me know. Also, you may want to tweak your connection. It might not be optimized -- see the post in the guides section .. >> here >> https://testmy.net/topic-1013 I'm on 5Mbps also.. check it out :::.. Firefox is still better...
-
Yes, that is a good one. Also, I reccomend Linksys BEFCU10 (or something like that) they are awesome modems... very fast.
-
I don't think that's DOCSIS ... check to see if your ISP allows docsis modems, let me know and then I can let you know a good modem
