I never noticed a slow down when I was using AVG free program. If your using the paid with firewall disable it and it will be faster. I just use Windows Firewall with a router. Anti-virus I use NOD32 and my wireless laptop get close to the same speeds as the wired desktop. This is wireless on a 10/1 line. :::.. Thank you for the replys! I decided to go with the Refurbished ATA 66 because it was only 6 bucks. All I'm going to do with it is download conference calls for typist. Finally found a way to make money at home.

The ATA 33 is 5400rpm and the other two are 7200rpm EDIT: Wouldn't the increase in speed be the same as replacing a 7200rpm with a 10000rpm?

I got an old compaq with a DMA/ATA 33 that went south. I found a ATA 66 and and a ATA 100 real cheap. Does it matter which one I swap with the ATA 33?
