  1. Have you ordered this yet? Remember your sig line.
  2. Plenty of rest and good oatmeal. Even Grits work. Ever hear the story about the rabbit and the turtle??
  3. I had my sat suspended for 60 days near the end of June. I now have $11.66 credit with Hughes but don't know if they will give it to me terminating my account. I am very pleased with the EVDO once I got the kinks worked out.

  5. Hughes is trying to completly phase out the 4000. If you intend on continuing with satellite you really need to upgrade your modem to a DW7000 or HN7000S. No software installed in your PC needed to run these. A couple of die-hards that I thought never would and are real knowledgeable have made the switch, why not you?
  6. Good for you ghostmaster I had my Hughes service suspended on June 25 for 60 days and I now have a $11.66 credit but don' know if I will get it if I cancel. My EVDO is working well with speeds faster than sat most of the time. Uploads are at least 50% faster or more. I only lost my connection once because of a bad storm here. By using an APC UPS I could fix that because the storm knocked my power out for a minute.
  7. 3G where I purchased my equipment recommended this site http://www.speedtest.net/ also Sprint has a test page http://powervision.sprint.com/mobilebroadband/speedtest/index.html We need to all use the same test site to really compare. It seems that there has been some problems with the test here (TMN).
  8. I'm not sure what Clearwire is but since you mentioned a weak signal I'm guessing a WISP and the weak signal definitely is a factor. As for Verizon I would have nothing to do with them just as they did me while I was their customer.
  9. I'm running 2000 with Office 2000 and all is fine. The OS is updated and the Office program is also to the extent I could. For Win2000 I did get a free update disc a few years back from Microsoft. What versions of the OS and Outlook do you have?
  10. I don't know about that but what I have been reading is the USB seems to have a faster upload. I would have to try the card I have alone without the router but unfortunately I have no laptop. I did ask at 3G about about putting in a PCI to PCMCIA adapter in for the card but was told they hadn't found a card to support it but maybe they just hadn't tried it. Using the connection manager gives you access to the PX500 but I don't know about other cards or modems. If anyone with a different modem could give some input maybe we could do a group test. . The network for ISP connection is in place and there must be something that controls the speed but whether it is in our EVDO modems or not I don't know. I think EVDO modems in the future may give us more speed but what you must remember it would need to able to handle this through each segment of the internet network. And thus when you drive to work in the morning rush the more cars out the slower traffic gets just as the internet, so where is everyone getting in such a hurry,
  11. I don't think there'll be any adjustments. There are the same variables as on sat but no excessive travel time. This is about the best I have gotten testing around, 3G recommended this site. Remember that there is different equipment (cards & USB) on our end that we are comparing with.
  12. I just did those 2 tests and the first put me in area 4 and the other put me in Reston, Virginia
  13. Depends on your connection and your network, wired or wireless. The D-Link could be added in easily if you can disable the DHCP in it.
  14. U could put mobile oil in you lawn tractor and run Windows Mobile 5 while cutting the lawn, technology
  15. I had to do some work on the router to get the uploads to increase, don't know what you could do with a phone.
  16. Yes I went through all that with my Linksys router and card. I can't see the actual signal but going into the router shows Fair, Good or Excellent and I now have Excellent with the truckers antenna. I'm about 2 miles and in the middle of 2 towers. 6 locations later I found the best spot for my network.
  17. Does that mean you get better speeds after going to town to 3 bars??? :haha: Nice to be able to travel with your connection.
  18. Private, I have to agree with you. I never really had any bad experiences dealing with support other then the length of time especially being on cell only. At times the first tier could help and if not I had to educate them that they couldn't by letting them continue their script. Patience and communication seems to be the key and remembering they can't see what you see. People need to remember that what they have on their end they need to educate themselves about to use properly. Buy a new coffee maker and they don't stop by to show you.
  19. I got the antenna and finally found a spot to get me an excellent for the signal status but that is only from the routers interpretation, don't know the actual signal numeral, but it is great.
  20. It seems that I found the sweet spot for my card just as you had to in the beginning. Works well doesn't it Tommie.
  21. Thanks, I really like the EVDO and a good storm went through the other day and I did loose my connection The power went out for a minute and I powered back up.
