I don't think any changes would be necessary unless you want to experiment. It takes a good deal of time, make a change and work it for a while. I think sharing a connection with cell phones (Vision) makes a constant variance. Also location may make he difference, some areas may get into the mainstream easier. Also there is probably a cap on just what throughput you can get so nobody runs wild. Your signal seems a little low. I checked mine with my daughter's laptop since I don't have one and found it to be around -70. Using the Linksys router/Pantec500 card I can move it around for the best connection and network from there. I also run these tests after a through cleaning. -

For one thing I believe using satellite or wireless you need to strip down your applications and run only the necessary to get good speeds. Stay away from anti virus programs that dog your PC down. And the biggest thing is run 2-3 spy ware-male ware programs at least once a week. I find when any of my computers start to show a little slow down I run these, sometimes even once a day, saves a lot of grief. Many blame the other end of their connection without being positive their end is clear. The thought here is if it works well for many others why not me.

, I can place the router in a place that gets the best signal and use network cable or wireless to connect to my PC. A way to get past the slow down was found. LOL, -

"The buck stops here" But since the buck is so inflated now it seems to be just like all the political promises made, can't do much with it.

Mine works well from here most of the time. Could be something to do with Sprint using compression. I haven't noticed as many slow downs with Sprint EVDO as Hughes during the peak times. -

ca3le was in a motorcycle accident...he's okay tho
granpa replied to tdawnaz's topic in General Discussion
My thoughts are for Ca3le for a good recovery as I can remember the broken bones and scrapes. I remember my days of riding, took me 10 years before I bought a street bike to ride. I made sure I didn't get one until I could leave the road at 50mph and keep riding. Only crashed at higher speed in snow or mud. -
The only Viking around here might be some flooring.

I have a PC I want to swap out the board. I'm not sure ( don't remember) how to do this with XP Pro and not have to reload the whole system. Seems that I can remember something about doing this back a few years ago by just going into control panel and do something with hardware change and shut down and make the swap and boot back up. Any input appreciated.

toshiba drivers, I didn't even know toshiba made cars, only in the UK?

Doesn't sound like this has anything to do with the problem. 3 grounding blocks ??? why. All that is necessary is one where the coax enters the structure, preferably on the inside out of the elements and it is only a ground for the coax and not the transmitter. The transmitter should have it's own ground wire and not come in contact with the other until they each connect to the electrical service ground. But 3 ground blocks would be 4 coax connectors for each and 2 more on each end making a total of 16 possibilities for a corrosion failure. You need to take everyone of these apart and check for a discoloration and clean or replace before reconnecting. Now for the PC use a few spy-ware and ad-ware cleaners. The system scan using IE at Ewido ( http://www.ewido.net/en/ ) works very well. Left side click on scan now and follow prompts. These nasties can also cause problems. Try this and if it continues then we need your signal strength and ACP (cross-pole) which you can't get if you reboot the modem, it clears out the numbers. This can be found at 192.168.0.1 under system info and do not post site ID or account numbers.
