  1. All I have to say that for most of us we are where are eyes are.
  2. Prices are probably going to be the same when the new sat goes in. You can't put in a new sat and give everyone on it more speed for the same money and let all the others be envious. What it boils down to is more money = more speed and sat works where other ISP's can't. Many good used sat stations for sale.
  3. With Hughes I would average around 750ms.
  4. Bamellis to the forum. I have had satellite for internet since 1999 and with all the reading and research I have done you can use Vonage, but not as a home subscriber. You would need to get rid of the small Wildblue system and go to a V-sat which would probably have a 1.2 meter dish or bigger and a 3watt transmitter or bigger. You would wind up paying at least $179/month for the smallest account but you could use VOIP. This larger system would give you the speed needed to work but not as well as cable or DSL.
  5. After I use my feet too much they seem to become acres.
  6. The saying goes "don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see".
  7. Ah.....Welcome back........didn't know you got a vacation. Key West in the middle of summer heat, now that seems a little disturbed to me. Guess you came back at a good time though, may get a little windy.
  8. You guys are going whole hog here. :2funny:
  9. Nothing like "Roco News"; after it happens :haha:
  10. Martenlaker to the forum. I know Hughes but if you have another system I myself don't know about their parameters. What is your ISP?
  11. eljay03 and through this link; http://www.dslreports.com/faq/satellite One think that most on satellite have found is keeping your computer cleaned on a daily basis if possible or I would say one a week the least. Spyware and adware can slow it down even if you think there is nothing. A real great online cleaner is online scan using Internet Explorer at http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/ Also Lavasoft's"Adware"( http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free )and Spybot ( http://www.spybot.info/ ) Many have thought there was a problem with Hughes and it is possible but make sure your good at home first because cannot help you there and then see how your speed are.
  12. They had an empire supported by western NY and Pennsylvania through Adelphia Cable. Now the have rooms in a Federal Resort supported by all, only in America. Only they don't control the books now
  13. I believe they are set up that way so not to over power your phone. If you look at the antenna they are usually set up in an array, maybe 6 of them and each has there own directional area. Much research is put into the design for the coverage area unlike original antenna Tommie wanted to use in his first desperation for signal gain.
  14. Yeah, no fried faeries. I do remember reading somewhere that there may be a few pixels in the screen that may not work, but I think this was for re manufactured ( could be seconds also).
  15. Welcome to the forum Shenou I did a on your EDIMAX and all I found was that it was a wireless router. We would need a little more information, like what type of ISP do you have, cable, dsl, wisp, I'm guessing it's not satellite. Also what operating systems on the computers and I'm guessing your trying to play online, what game(s). It seems that there is either heavy traffic or a great deal of latency to lose your connection. Do you know what speed you service is for (upload and download speeds) ? More information will help someone help you.
  16. What I have been told by support (phone call to 3G) is that adding the antenna is only to pull your signal in at your end. The transmission power on your end doesn't change and does not go out the external antenna so you still need to be in the best location in your home also the higher the better. The towers are using equipment much better than we will to receive and transmit, unless you can spend the money and then you would have a T1 line. Also a signal of -60 would be about the best you could get
  17. The router and card combo, I just found a window where I get the best signal with my Sprint cell and then found a good location outside for the antenna and 10' of wire limits this. I ran all my wiring from the router with only one PC connected directly to the WRT54G3G-ST and wireless network turned off in the WRT54G3G-ST. I use another Linksys G located at another spot in the house for my wireless with DHCP turned off in that one. But speeds vary to traffic, these have been the best but even the worst seem to be much more pleasurable than Satellite.
