  1. I think if you start a new topic with that we can cover that but I believe the question here is
  2. Tommie is only half right about the wireless in your case. I believe for VPN you will need a Static IP and I only know about Hughes offering it with the choices you have. As for you needing to upgrade to the HN7000S modem they are trying to get you to commit with a contract, any used system with the 7000 series modem will worl as long as it is clear (no money owed Hughes). If you know how to set up the 2-way sat you can get help through Montana Satellite otherwise you will need to hire Hughes installer, not the same as a TV dish.
  3. If you all send me your mailing addy I'll send each of you a nice card with a new picture of one on it and no arguing.
  4. The main rule to remember is a clear line of sight. No leaves or anything as it will have an effect on the signal. I have done 400+ feet across a busy road using a 30 degree 7db gain antenna and on the remote PC could barely tell a speed drop. Also you will need to match the antenna gain at each end. http://www.wirelessnetworkproducts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=564

  6. I went out back to the Christmas trees and I only found my cat waiting for his gift of feather. I guess I need to look to the mall. Good suggestion ninjageek.
  7. Well if not how would they see out? Around here we always try to keep our windows clean.

  9. The CDU550 is a modem and makes the internet connection. The wireless card in your laptop that you used before no longer can get the internet from your router. I'm not positive by not being able to see your setup but I think you will need to enable ICS in the laptop and all connections go through it.
  10. I think you have old socks
  11. Well over 50 years oh, the EVDO, about 6 weeks of experimenting and firmware for the router. But now it just seems to improve on it's own by using the same tower. Could be it also picked up a little since the leaves fell. :::.. 14. I have no way of knowing, I cannot get into my Pantec card since I have no laptop nor do I have a Blackberry to check this out.
  15. "If you leave an area with Mobile Broadband 1x EV-DO coverage, and enter an area with 1xRTT coverage, the handover is seamless. You will notice the coverage icon will change from DO to 1X, and the speed will drop from Mobile Broadband speeds, to 1xRTT speeds." from http://www.fklt.com/faq.php#1.2.4 After checking it seems that your not in an EVDO A area and will probably only experience slower speeds, but steady and no FAP. Also the CDU550 does not have the functionality for connecting a high gain antenna to it.Your problem may be that your only getting 1xRTT speed.
  16. I guess it already happened to her butt, seems she lost her lease on that.
  17. That would really become a dying business. But is there really proof of living that long and what would one do about Global Warming? I guess it would give one time to find a solution. And if you don't think it's coming there is proof that it is.
  18. You changed modems and you also mentioned that you changed plans. Do you remember the parameters of the DW7000 from the system information, what plan now and is it a .74meter dish/ 1watt transmitter. The real question here is did you change transponder. It is possible that your dish may need tweaking for the new modem. It is also possible that something happened while using the DW7000 and tweaking the dish then may have helped there too. As Tommie mentioned a daily cleaning seems to help when using satellite an I also do the same now that I'm using Sprint EVDO. But we need that information and be sure not to post your account number or site ID.
