  1. I don't think anyone posting here has to be dug up yet.
  2. Sparky, Some of us here had Hughes when it used 2 modems and there was many things to learn to make it run at top speed. The newer systems are no different. I used the 2-way when it came out and for 6 years was pretty much consistent at a 1.2meg average. I believe we all found running the least amount of programs and using tweaks along with a near perfectly aligned (sighted in) system got the maximum results. I have an old PC here that ran 24/7 as my server with Hughes software to run the 2 modems and it's still running and on Sprint pulls good download speeds. If you can tell us about your PC and you satellite stats we may be able to give you some solutions for better speeds.
  3. I have the you get what's there plan for the same 59.99 a month but the good thing is I can take it with me on trips.

  5. Good to hear from you Roco. Great advice on the voicing with your ISP techs, they more than likely didn't design it but get all the complaints from those that don't understand speed, traffic and other things. Anyone complaining should be able to clean things up at home first before jumping on someone else. I like the ISP I have now, I can take my connection with me.

  13. 24 meg is a bit high for EVDO if you have done any research. I checked Sprint and you are in the Sprint coverage area. It shows on Grafton as far out as Phillips Rd, but if it is revA I could not tell you. 2 weeks ago I was down along route 81 through Pa, Md, WV and Va to route 64 (Staunton) and got connected on my laptop most of the way with Sprint. Only a few areas were dead for a mile or two. With Sprint at home here I get from 1Meg to up around 1.8-1.9meg most any time. I use a Pantec500 card plugged onto a Linksys WRT54G3G with a outdoor trucker antenna to the card. As for latency I went from the 700ms with Hughes to usually around 140 to 170ms with Sprint. After Hughes for 6 years this is awesome. All this information has been gone over so if you want more help just send out the tickets and I'm sure someone will show up to help you shop.
  14. I was going to visit friends in Florida, until I got the directions.
  15. It is possible there is some type of interference if is happening the same time every day. Your dish is probably pointed correctly if it cuts out with a signal of 70. Other possibilities are modem, LNB or even coax connections, anything is possible with electronic equipment. Myself I would go through the system starting with all coax connections (taking apart is the only way) and check the grounding also. The LNB would be checked that no water is in the feedhorn and the mylar cover is clear. I can't give any more advise without knowing the satellite and frequency your on.
  16. My thoughts here since changing frequencies or equipment doesn't help either than that satellite may not be sutable for the location for some unseen reason even though it seems to be.
