wow very nice find, i didnt see that one the other day when i posted this thread, i saw one like it, but was 800 and something, but wow, very nice find. i already want it and havent read all of the specs and reviews yet. looks very nice. thank you edit/ but it says it has 4gb of ram, but only vista 32 bit...doesnt that mean it will only utilize 3gb? -

oh yeah i know about the gaming on a laptop, lol, i dont expect to play many games on it, but would like the capability to run games at least on medium settings if i choose to install them for a long trip or something. but other than that im not too concerned about it, as i dont play many games that often, and the most graphically intensive game i have is probably world at war, and i have beaten it so many times i doubt i'd reinstall it even for multiplayer. but i just am not sure about the acer or the hp mainly. the acer is a littler faster with the ddr3 ram but then again the hp has things that the acer doesnt...so just figured i'd look for some opinions of others. im leaning towards the hp but then again i've had many acer products including a laptop and a 22 inch widescreen monitor, all of which work perfectly to this day. but im more or less wondering which would be a better desktop replacement so i dont have to have a desktop. -
sweet man, wish i had some extra equipment to do things like that when i get bored. sounds like a nice deal, post some pics?

Hi, I am in the market for a laptop as i have no desktop except a dell dimension 4500S. OMG slooowwww. anyways, what laptop out of the choices would you pick, im hoping to get it soon as possible. probably in a month or two.. i have the links to all three posted, but what do you think is the best choice and what are the pros and cons of your choices? thanks in advance. ok the computer im using right now is a dell dimension 4500S series. it has a 1.7ghz celeron, 640mb ram, 64mb integrated shared memory graphics (intel 800 or something really old) and a 80gig harddrive with no dvd drive at all. just a cd rewriter. im used to a dual core 3ghz machine with 2gb ram and at least a 512mb dedicated graphics card that can max out call of duty world at war, so im looking for the notebook, of which i have listed, or one you find on Newegg (only newegg please) that can be good for games, be fast, prefer to have a windows 7 upgrade available, dvd burner, and things like that, and be no more than 799.99 (800 bucks). thanks ok here is the acer aspire laptop http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115592 the acer has ddr3 RAM also, which is nice here is the HP pavilion http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834157020 of course the HP here has a amd dual core not intel and is 2.2ghz instead of 2.1ghz, not sure thats worth saying its the best though, just a preference for amd, but im open to intel (never used a core 2 duo) and here is the toshiba satellite http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114653 and last but not least, the toshiba actually has a 16" widescreen, which the other 2 that are posted only have a 15.6" screen, but all have the same resolution. which of these three...or one you find on newegg (800 bucks max) do you think is the best bang for my money to play newer games on, and be fast and stable? the windows 7 upgrades on the acer and HP i have listed is a nice addition but i dont NEED it, just is nice. thanks in advance.

it kind of looks like they have you paying for the larger speeds but only giving you the lower package. i'd definately call them and have them check their lines and everything on their end to make sure they arent ripping you off. my isp (cableone) had me paying not too long ago for 3mbps package and i was only on the 1.5mbps after that got fixed tehy tried it again. so i'd call your isp and make sure they arent messing up your info.

sometimes download.com has the drivers you want... but i'd trust filehippo to have more variety.

are you sure you didnt hit any other settings?....does the system beep at you? -
post a speed test from this site here. and what package are you paying for...any more info?
-
if you could tell us what you need the drivers for that would be great also.
-
i say this because i have found the PLDT vibe site...no real help...and then i found the PLDT mydsl site...and the smallest package on the second site is 1mbps...can you clear up which ISP site is correct http://www.pldtvibe.com/login.asp or http://www.pldtdsl.com/packageres.asp
-
i just googled the PLDT DSL 990 plan...and from waht the links say (i cant post certain links as they are against spamming rules for other sites) ..but the links say the 990 plan only are advertised at 384kbps. can you post a link to your actual isp because i couldnt find their packages page to double check. but yeah if its advertised at 384 then you are getting some nice speeds for the price. but im still curious about where to find the package deals online. i cant seem to find them.

to overclock you go into your bios before the computer POSTS. usually with either the Del. key or maybe F8. depends on what kind of computer i guess. but anyway, after you go into the bios there is a section where it shows your CPU frequencies and voltages..my section in my bios is just ccalled overclock navigator. yours might be named different. and to OC you just SLOWLY increase your frequency at first, but be sure to do it a little at a time and then reboot your computer and check to make sure its not running too hot or anything is wrong, if you jump up the frequency and the voltages too much you can do serious harm to your computer. dont do too much with the voltage levels unless you need to to insure enough power and everything to the cpu, too much voltage and you'll start to smell something going on eventually. lets not even try this unless needed, but im not too familiar with playing with voltage levels so i'll let a more experienced member take care of explaining that part you should also know that overclocking (OC) your computer increases the heat produced by your cpu and can lower the lifespan if you arent careful with your system. so its always best to not do it too much at a time and always have patience by doing it a little at a time then rebooting and monitoring temperatures, and everything of your cpu...if it goes to high you will notice stalls, overheats, etc. best to ask for help any time you get lost or paranoid about a result. we're here to help. that is just a rough outline of how to do it, more members will give more information when they read this thread probably. also just as an example..i have a amd athlon 64x2 5600+ its stock speed is 2.8ghz...i have the frequency set up from 200 (default) to 215 in the bios and didnt mess with the voltage at all. and im now at 3ghz. but make sure you take it slow, again it will be slower progress but when you get it where you want you'll be pleased you didnt ruin a good computer by rushing things. edit/ another nice note to have that i didnt think about when i had an older computer is....always make sure there is good airflow, because if you overclock and more heat is generated its nice to have a place for the heat to travel out of the case or you'll be in the middle of something and the system will overheat and shut down...trust me on that one -
i agree...i've recently been searching for reviews on movies and i've come across countless forums dedicated to distributing games, and movies, programs, etc. its going to get worse and worse because the "authorities" are trying way to hard and doing things via force instead of finding a better way to try and fix this.

if you want to overclock your cpu to 2.5ghz dont bother with a 8800 type card. go for the geforce 260 -
what parts do you need drivers for? any more info we can help better. but have you tried looking at the manufacturer's websites?
-
can you tell what bios version you have?
-
dotn try recovery console unless you know you have to. as mudman pointed out, if you fix anything in recovery console, especially the mbr, chances are if you dont need it then you'll be at a loss. can you go into your bios before the bootup even begins and check ur temps?
-
true. lol i wasnt implying to go into recovery console and fixmbr right away. that would be bad.
-
if its software wise, not memory or anything it sounds like your master boot record... if not a virus or anything else mentioned above. and i agree with mudman, the recovery console should fix the boot files
-
i agree with yoru post completely. and on a side note...there is a program that lets you check what games you can run. its browser based but safe http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

i have the amd dual core 5600+ also ninjageek. it moves just as fast as i would imagine anyone at home needs. then again i would go as far as to say besides bragging rights, if you can cheaply upgrade to a quad corea dn a brand new graphics card...without breaking your bank account.....its more reliable in the future also. but everyone has their own opinions. some just like to keep it to the max.
-
wow...IMO dx11 this soon is stupid...DX10 doesnt even get used a whole lot ....this is like vista and windows 7 i guess....it will be nicer...but alot of people who were waiting to upgrade will just skip dx10 now....
