thanks swimmer, i knew that even if what mudman said didnt work for me (which it basically did, thanks mudman), you'd eventually come in here and post something helpful also, but yeah i got it taken care of now. thanks though.

i have a 512mb 7950GT KO from newegg (not the superclocked one). evga brand, it kicks all of my games into high settings. now the only weakpoint is my single core 2.4ghz amd athlon 64... but yeah the 7950gt kicks all games asses so far that i've tried. only one its struggled on is starship troopers, but thats because of my refresh rate and screen size, not really performance wise.

hey mudman, i fixed it. and i have it set that whenever i turn on my laptop it asks me to chose from windows media center or the windows recovery console just in case . i got the help from this link after reading your post...i was like uh oh something is wrong when mudman enters somthing starting with EEEEKK....either something is wrong or he has coffee here is the link http://foodfight.org/log/Misc/how-to-get-rid-of-grub

well i can tell this is gonna be bad.... ok yeah 3 partitions, 1 that is 4 gigs for backup (liek system restore), 1 for operating system 25 gigs, and one for storage, which came blank 25gigs. it says i have a 55gb harddrive so thats wat i have. the restore discs restore the operating system in a set of 2 dvds. one says something about the operating system but isnt specifically about just that. it has other stuff on it also.

thanks mudman, yeah see thats the problem, i have no windows cd, it didnt come with one when i bought it RETAIL even. thats why i used my backup dvd's. but i will try to load in the linux cd and repair. thanks for the reply.

hi, this is mainly for swimmer/other liinux users. ok, i used the recovery cd in my acer laptop because of some problems and now when i try to boot windows it says "loading grub...loading grub, error 22" and won't load. i cant even boot into windows unless i use the gparted cd and choose the option to boot from partition 2 on my harddrive (which is where windows is...acer made this a 3 partition setup, 1 backup 2 OS, 3 blank) any ideas,

Ok, first off thanks in advance for help. My cable modem that i have from cableone is on and running, but every once in a while the activity light will shut off and i lose connection. this happened since a storm last night...I had everything unplugged except the cableline to the modem, but the modem ittself wasnt connected to the pc so it was isolated just incase it got hit. I have it all plugged in and connected now, and have tried troubleshooting from the ethernet cord to the drivers on pc. any ideas on how to fix this? later today i will call cableone and have them do some tests to see if it is my modem or something on their end. (btw, the cable line running to my modem is straight from the box outside, there are no splitters or anything and it is a seperate line than what my tvs are connected with.) edit/ while checking my email in outlook express, after trying multiple times because of disconnections, it took me like 3 minutes to connect to mail.cableone.net which is the mail server for my isp. and this is on a 3mbps download package....it has to be on their end right? but when i do a speed test here is the result :::..
