yea its a known issue that you go faster if you clear cache, also testing against my server when its offline shows and record cacheresults that are way off. VanBuren

i been having great speed for a few days but today im back to around 3- 3,5 Mbps i dont think its the server, its probl same issue as before but you could try these values too CA3LE echo 8388608 > /proc/sys/net/core/wmem_max echo 8388608 > /proc/sys/net/core/rmem_max echo "4096 87380 4194304" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_rmem echo "4096 65536 4194304" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_wmem i found em at http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/tcptune/#Linux VanBuren

Well if you cant reach 90% of your ISP advertised speed you might have a problem. Luckely that problem can be fixed in most cases by tweaking your windows registry. There are alot of tweak programs out on the internet, too bad not all does the job right. When you need help with tweaking then add these things in your post. 1. What OS are you running, ex win 98, win xp 2. What service do you have, what is the advertised speed for download/upload. 3. What tweakprograms you already got installed, and run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks [www.dslreports.com] copy and paste result URL adress in your post! 5. What speed do you have against www.testmy.net [www.testmy.net] and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ [nitro.ucsc.edu] also make a tracert, go to start-run type command and hit enter, type tracert testmy.net and hit enter, right click copy all and paste it in your post. 6. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. 7. Open Internet Explorer and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure nothing there is checked. 8. Connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depend on the ISP service unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL. If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware. 9. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 30 seconds. 10. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot http://beam.to/spybotsd [beam.to] and Ad Aware http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download [www.lavasoft.com] to remove any spyware 11. ZoneAlarm firewall has known problems with dropping speed, i suggest to uninstall it and compare speed 12. Install Outpost Firewall http://www.agnitum.com [www.agnitum.com] or Sygate Firewall http://www.sygate.com/ [www.sygate.com] 13. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one, AVG is great http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php [www.grisoft.com] 14. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates 15. Download and run CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ [www.ccleaner.com] 16. download and install Cablenut 4.08 and Vanburens cablenut settings version 3 here https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1013.0 [testmy.net] unzip settings to C:ProgramCablenut -

There is no "one size fits all" connections thats why you need to finetune In the speed you have, tweaking has not much impact, and if your doing it wrong it will slow down that goes for both cable and dsl..... VanBuren

Web100 reports the Round trip time = 716.0 msec and you need a buffersize MaxRwinRcvd: 268640, MinRwinRcvd: 33580 now you have the values you need to calculate this... Your receive buffer (262.0 KByte) limits the application to 2.86 Mbps As you can see they say you have a receivebuffer of 262 KByte, that i dont think is fully accurate, cos the test reporting MaxRwinRcvd: 268640. anyway lets put these things in the formula multiplyer x MSS = optimal RWIN multiplyer = (optimal RWIN / MSS) multiplyer = 262000 / 1460 = 179 ((Maximum Bandwidth x Maximum Latency) / 8 ) / MSS = multiplyer ((Maximum Bandwidth x Maximum Latency) / 8 ) = multiplyer x MSS ((Maximum Bandwidth x 716) / 8 ) = 179 x 1460 Maximum Bandwidth x 89,5 = 261340 Maximum Bandwidth = 261340 / 89,5 = 2920 Kbps pretty close compared to them Your receive buffer (262.0 KByte) limits the application to 2.86 Mbps They probl just rounded the multiplyer diffrent from me...... hey dagger follow the steps here and post again https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=605.0 VanBuren

yea the 579 KB test is inaccurate at that speed, try the 2992 KB test VanBuren
-
hey cappy and welcome to the forum you get 93% of advertised speed down and 92 % up to that you need to add a TCP overhead of approx 10 % so you go above your cap, be happy VanBuren
-
hey varia and welcome to the forum bad pings and packetloss over UDP that most games using is most likely out of your control, inside ISP network. keep making tracerts and post your ISP, also you can test to reboot your modem for 30 seconds and by pass your router if you have one. and see if the packeloss decrease. working great now, the planet finally fixed the issue VanBuren

the test probl measured RTT when you was uploading/downloading, thats why its so high this The theoretical network limit is 15.55 Mbps The transmit buffer (101.0 KByte) limits the application to 1.10 Mbps Your receive buffer (262.0 KByte) limits the application to 2.86 Mbps The network based flow control limits the application to 0.15 Mbps is based on the formula below ((Maximum Bandwidth x Maximum Latency) / 8 ) / MSS = multiplyer ( round up to the nearest even whole number) multiplyer x MSS = optimal RWIN so a connection with a 1500 download cap with a maximum latency of 300 ms and a MSS of 1460 (1500 x 300) / 8 = 56250 / 1460 = Multiplyer = 39 39 x 1460 = 56940 as Optimal RWIN if you reverse that and know RWIN and latency and MSS you can calculate Bandwidth and thats what its doing VanBuren -
 yea i sux too, its too easy when they dosent fire back at you, im loosing my concentration we need more l33t games, right MICROWAVE? VanBuren

yea go for the Cable VanBuren
