What u think about the NEWS section ?
cak46 replied to just-'s topic in Ideas to make testmy.net better?
I like having some news here. It's informative and I check it a few times a week usually and there is always a story I had not heard about. Keep up the good work! -
:haha: What the **** OH ****! Why is this thing ****ing with me? :haha:
-
Thanks CA3LE! Looked kinda funny with the *'s everywhere!
-
I'll change my theme and see what happens............ edit: That did the trick. Now I see the, well you know, in password. That's odd, though. Was the default look and feel changed? Thanks for all your help with this
-
Those look ok. Just when they aare all together and spell, well, you know........
-
I don't see it there. This is weird. Heres the look and preferencs I see............
-
Thanks Netmasta. Hmmm. Wonder if there is a setting in the profile setup. Anyone know how to get rid of it?
-
Anywhere I see the word. This is new..... Haven't seen it before. Are you seeing the same as I!? * For the second "a" subseqent double s, I see *** instead.
-
Why does password come up with p(***)word? Just wondering............
-
If you boot from floppy, you would use the os on the floppy (DOS) for win98 startup disk. See info for FAT32 with XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310525/EN-US/
-
I believe it will only work on a fat32 partition for XP. No go for the NTFS file system...... Have you run anti-virus scan on it? Didn't see it in your post....
-
Here is a guide from microsoft that makes it easier than I could to set it up. If you have trouble with it, please let us know. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/getstarted/shareresources.mspx

Probably be best to take it out and start over. It Looks lined up ok. try 'rocking' the chip in, light pressure on one end, then the other end. I've had to do this to some POS chips. Be careful.
-
Not too hard.... If the clips are lined up with the notches but are not engaged, just push the clips into place. May want to try that anyway since its all lined up then try pushing it in the rest of the way.
-
If his is xp and yours is xp thats the setup you would want to use with Cre8ors suggestion.
-
The notch in the middle should be offset Not exactly in the middle). Make sure you line up the ends of the chip with the slots in the two clips and make sure they are opened up so the chip can slide in real easy. Look down into the chip slot and see which end is the shorter then put the chip in with the shorter end the same.
-
It will only go in one way. Won't hurt it if it's half way in the wrong way. Take it easy. Last thing you want to do is really break something. Done that myself. Shut it down, take the chip out, then put it back in so both of the clips slip into place onto the chip

Whats happening is that at a low level (in the boot.ini file, there are references that tell the operating system which controller, what position on the controller, and what partition is the actual boot drive. When the loader is trying to "mount" the drive so that the boot can occur, this is where the problem is occurring. Something is happening that precludes the mounting of your c: drive for booting, in essence. Did you try removing the chip then booting? Battery most likely is circular and silver on the motherboard.
-
Did your sound going funny coincide with the ram addition? RAM chips do go bad, especially if they are inexpensive. You could try and take out the added ram and boot up to see if thats causing the problem. While you have it out, take a clean cotton cloth and rub the gold, or silver cotacts on the edge. These, especially the silver (lead) contacts can corrode over time. I have a server that periodically develops memory issues because of this.
-
That message is indicative of a problem with bios settings (CMOS) or a memory chip issue. Reset your cmos to default settings and make sure your hard drives are set to auto. There should be an option somewhere in the CMOS set up screens to reset to default settings or follow bones instructions. See link below for more information.... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318729/EN-US/

I would assume so, but have no experience with bit torrent. If all you need to do for that software is forward the port, it would be the same (Might be a different port number though). Not sure of the impact if both programs use the same port for listening. You might have to change one of them if you have problems. If you go to Start>Run and type in 'cmd' to get to a prompt the type 'netstat' this will list the ports that are open and what state they are in (listening, established, etc.) and the remote connection to the port
-
Hope it works!

Go to the special application option. I believe that this is where you would set up the port forwarding. As a side note, When someone tries to access your information, they will need to use the external ip of your router, not the ip of your machine (Because of having the router (Network Address Translation). You can try to set it up with port 80. Just fill in the trigger port (80), the ip address of your machine, tcp as the protocol and the public port (80), I assume. Edit: Yes. I would set that to 80 as well. When someone tries to access it, they will need to use the routers external ip and may need to put :80 at the end of the url eg: 123.45.67.66:80
