  1. Is it an Application you're wanting to do this with or a Web Page? If its an Application, check the settings in the Application. If its a web page, F5 is your key, not Enter.
  2. Can anyone tell me what this program is for? Can't find any reference to it on the web so far.... It's in his/her Hijackthis list..... c:windowssystem32xrhpewl.exe Edit: her/his
  3. Could it be some kind of DoS attack!?
  4. Then you can't do a manual restore point - Forgot you'd had that disabled-LOL
  5. Find a page with data that changes every time its loaded, then keep hitting F5. Don't know why you would want to, but this would work............
  6. Before rebooting again, do a manual System Restore Point.... Just in case.... Sounds like XP is having it's way with you Good luck and as always, if it comes back, let us know!
  7. Just happened. Clicked largest file 2992 and this occurred. Will try it again. BTW: Member server works ok. Edit: Here is the info on the page: Not Found The requested URL /d_load.php was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/1.3.33 Server at server2.testmy.net Port 80
  8. Go into add/remove and remove the update we added yesterday. Reboot, then try to reinstall the update again. Did it shut down normally or did it lock on shutdown last night?
  9. Go into safe mode and go to settings>control panel>computer management>Event Logs(?) and see if there are any errors showing in the Application and/or System logs. What SP are you running on the machine?
  10. Sounds ok to me. I thought precluding the ability to post in old threads would eliminate potential problems down the road (Spam, etc.)
  11. A pop up is a good idea as long as you don't have pop-ups blocked. Just thinking if the topic was locked, the new topic could be merged with the old if it is truly relevant. Maybe not 2 weeks, but more like 3 weeks or a month?
  12. PHP, If you want to, just dump this thread since the other has been moved.
  13. A discussion has started surrounding posting to old threads. A couple of ideas have come up and DN0 suggested a new thread for this discussion. DN0 suggested that after a couple of weeks, have the text color change or use a pop-up, showing the date of the last post to the thread. A suggestion I made was to have the thread lock automatically after, say, three weeks if it is possible for this to happen.. If the new information is pertinent to the dead thread and should be included with it, I would think the mods could combine the new thread referencing the old one. Are there other thoughts on this? Edit: For spelling....Again
  14. Or maybe just have them auto-lock if no responses for a coupla weeks? If it's possible....
  15. Wish I had FIOS............. Thing I don't get is I have fiber to the pole outside of my house (for cable). Why not just bring that bad boy right into the house?
  16. Assuming XP for operating system: If you go into settings>control panel> computer management> services you can disable them from here. Find the service (process) you want to disable, double click on it, stop the process then change setting from "Automatic" to "disabled". Be careful about which processes you disable. Here is a link that has an alphabeitic list which explains each process. Be sure you have scanned for viruses and spyware/adware as well. Here's the link: http://www.theeldergeek.com/remote_procedure_call_(rpc).htm. Any problems, please let us know
  17. Install the update again and let's see what happens. Was it ok up until you shut dwon last night (if you did) then when you started up this morning it was back to it's old tricks?
  18. Not at all. Those look great! As with you, I live in the boondocks. My area was just set up about a year ago and from what one of the techs told me, this area is the only one in the state with the newest state of the art equipment from the pole to Augusta (I guess Maines CO). Only about 1500 users on this leg of their system. It's sweet!
  19. If what Cholla suggests does not work, try this: Try shutting the machine down, then power it back up and start hitting F8 key. This should bring up a menu, which includes your safe mode option. I believe that there is a "Last Known Good Hardware Configuration option there as well. Give that option a try and let us know how it goes.
  20. Sorry to answer a question with questions , but what operating system are you running, have you installed any hardware or software just prior to the blank blue screen issue, and have you run virus scans and adware, spyware scans through safe mode yet?
  21. Hey, just found something....... Check this out: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884020/ I remembered that an address of 126.0.0.1 was listed in your netstat. EDIT: My stupid, did not see the address there, but does DC use a localhost address?
