  1. I read through the boards and I couldn't find this posted. This is very good news for Comcast users. It should be all over soon. Read here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,15478559

  3. Be sure that you're not running in Background. I searched the word "icon" through the help topics and found this:
  4. If it's the trial version, you should have built in anti-spyware/ad protection. If you go into options/plug-ins, you can enable all options that you want. I can't say for sure that the trial will give you full control, but it's worth a check. As far as the system tray icon, you can see from the second screenshot that it should be there. Mine is running under the Rules Wizard policy. Just so you'll know, Outpost is not an all around solution for viruses/spyware/adware/etc. You should consider trying Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro as your main anti-virus (trial version available under the box shot). It will protect you from anything, and along with Outpost as the firwall, you'll be very safe. Are you running SP2? If so, open the security center and check out which firewall is being used. If you are running the XP version, disable it, uninstall Outpost firewall, and reboot. When the system comes back up, recheck that the XP firewall is still disabled. If so, install Kaspersky Anti-Virus Person Pro trial, and then install the Outpost firewall again.
  5. OMG. Little details like that will get you every time. for pointing that out PHP. But why change results? Is it really that important?
  6. The moment of truth has arrived. ATI has successfully taken back it's throne. The X1900XT(X) cards are doing things that the 7800GTX 512MB cards can't do period. That's just simply amazing! Today, Ati has launched the new X1900XT series and together with it a virtual tidal-wave of reviews have hit the world wide web. Now, the R580 core (and its performance) can finally be revealed to all of us mortals. You can witness ATi's new 'frame-killer' (and money-grabber) in reviews over @ OCWorkbench - The Radeon X1900 series sets the new standard for high-end gaming GPU performance. It is the first series of PC graphics products to feature 48 pixel shader processors, twice as many as any previous technology. The Radeon X1900 has over 380 million transistors, the design is able to combine all of the key innovations of the Radeon X1000 series (including Ultra-Threading, HDR with Anti-Aliasing, image quality improvements, Avivo video & display technologies, and more) with massively increased shader processing power and other interesting new features like Fetch4 shadow map acceleration. - Guru3D Splinter Cell 3 CT - Well what do you know, it seems the X1900 XTX likes complex IQ settings also. We measured with 16 levels of AF enabled and had the uber-challenging HDR settig activated here. With such settings you normally need to stick at 10x7 with a midrange card if it can even handle it. High-end cards show magnificent performance and the XTX can do it up-to 1920x1200 with a fantastic 54 FPS. That's really breathtaking performance. - AnandTech - The resounding victory of the X1900 XTX over the 7800 GTX 512 in almost every performance test clearly shows how powerful a part we are playing with. Clearly NVIDIA has been dethroned and will have a difficult time regaining its performance lead. But the more these two companies can leap-frog eachother, the happier we get. - Tech Report (GeForce lovers ) - Then again, maybe I need to get over it. The Radeon X1900 XTX spots the GeForce 7800 GTX 512 advantages in both memory bandwidth and multitextured fill rate, yet the XTX still comes out on top in overall performance. It does so while consuming less power at idle and only a little bit more under load than the GTX 512. Even if we haven't tapped all of the R580's potential just yet, we've tapped enough to see that it's the best thing going right now. - HardOCP - If you want the fastest performing video cards right now that provide the highest level of image quality in games, it doesn
  7. The December results are in. Kaspersky still leads the field with F-Secure close behind, but I couldn't help to take notice of how far CyberScrub version 1.0 has evolved. It's detection has really gotten better which, in turn, landed the program a number 3 spot. Check the results here: 14-22 December 2005 (NEW!!!)
  8. Those benchemark results show how amazing the X1900XT(X) is. The single X1900XTX model scored just as well as the 7800GTX 512MB in SLI mode on certain tests. Nvidia's 7900 series cards will really have be a monsters just to match the scores of the X1900XT Crossfire right now being that it crushed the 7800GTX 512MB easily. If not, ATI will further capitalize on their reign with the R600 core.
  9. That couldn't be more true. The X1800XT scored just as well as the 7800GTX 512MB as a single card, and with SLI & Crossfire going head to head. The 7800GTX was a little faster at higher resolutions, but it has been beaten by the X1800XT on several tests at lower resolutions. I don't see it matching the X1900XT. That BFG 7800GTX OC has a lower overclocked core than all three of the X1900's, and the stock, memory clock speed on both X1900XT models are not too far away from the BFG card's memory while overclocked (let alone the X1900XTX). Once you overclock the X1900XT(X), Nvidia's flagship will crumble.
  10. ATI's Radeon X1900XT Check and Mate R580 has been the talk of the town for months as what Radeon X1800 should have been. We got an early sample of the card and put it through the paces ATI
  11. Exactly. This test is designed to stress out your hardware. If your scores are right on par with users who have the same setup as you, then you're doing just fine. If your scores are higher than setups which you know are superior to yours, something is wrong. Thanks for posting the pictures VanBuren. It keeps things in perspective.
  12. I got that message once but, when I refreshed the page a few times, it went away.
  13. Try doubling clicking on the speaker icon in your system tray. Once the Volume Control window opens, look for CD Player & Line In. Check the Mute box under both. That seems to clear up any hissing/static in my sound (including mouse movement). I only uncheck the Line In when I want my television's audio to come through my system speakers. Other than that, I leave them both checked. If you don't have the above 2 volume controls available, click on Options from the upper left hand corner, and then select Properties. Inside Properties, be sure that your current Mixer device is selected from the drop down menu and that Playback is selected from the "Adjust volume for" section. In the window at the very bottom, check the box in front of the two volume controls and click ok. They're now listed on the main volume window.
  14. The codec pack that I linked you to is offered through SoftPedia as well. I'll post the links so you can see exactly what the differences are. After observing the description between the two, the K-Lite Codec Pack 2.68 offers much more. That's not even the K-Lite Mega version, which offers way more than the standard, full version. I definitely think you should stick with K-Lite. Scroll down to view the description on the right. K-Lite Codec Pack 2.68 vs ACE Mega CoDecS Pack 6.03 Check out the description of the K-Lite MCP. It easily owns both of them at only 30MB! K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.48
  15. Window Blinds 5 Enhanced is my preference. The interface and customization WB5 seems to be a lot better.
  16. AMD socket MB's are available for it as well. There are some limitations right now, but not enough to prevent the cards from performing very well. Quad GPU technology is hardly seasoned. Give it couple of months, and it'll be coasting right along easily. Power supply, processor, and memory will be key.
  17. An Athlon 5000+ X2 or FX-60 (both dual core) will push those things. I'd love to see it though.
  18. Welcome. Be sure to keep it for future reference. It's an essential app/tool to have, especially after fresh installs.
  19. Do you have K-Lite Codec Pack installed? If not, get it here: K-Lite Codec Pack 2.66 Full [13.4 MB]
  20. Thxz for the help guys. If anyone else has any info on this, please let me know. Until then, - The search continues... -
  21. Normally, yes ($150 - $200) at initial release. That's a tricky question regarding Vista because it will have all versions of the OS on one disc. The chances of the OS being more expensive are moderately high. I think it will cost $200 - $300.
  22. Hell yeah! I run it without an inkling of slowdown on my system, and your gpu is better than mine.
