I was in a simular situtation last year before I went to college... I was looking for proformance but wanted the ability to do some work unplugged from the wall.. I chose to go with the Centrino platform. However, a new revision of the platform has just come out and will be in production later this year. This will include a 533mhz fsb, compaired to a 400, support for PCI-e, Sata, and a host of other improvements... Not one alone makes this platform better than the older one... It is the extras that you choose that make it better... Nvidia and ATI are expected to release high end mobile chips, 6800on the go and the x800 mobility. Meaning that you could play some kick ass games on this new laptop.. I have a 9600pro and can play just about anything I want at fairly high settings.. I have tried doom and the highest I can get it, this is with some extras turned on, was 1024x760 on my 1680x1050 native LCD screen. I would suggest that you look into the Centrino platform!! They are also releasing a 2.13ghz processor at the same time, which will run with the faster bus. I have the 1.8(745) on the 400 bus and it hauls ass.. However, if you buy a 5400 rpm harddrive you are going to cripple the system... Invest in a Hitachi 7200 rpm 2.5 notebook hard drive.. I did and I can not believe the speeds...

I know that here on our 10Mb/5mb connection here we still hit lag... now that might because some dude is downloading some movie and the bandwidth drops.. It really depends on the network load and condition on the server that Microsoft is runnning, by the way I think they run linux or that is what I have been told..

If i remember correctly you need 512/128 connection for the service to work like planned.. so you are a little blow the specs.. in the upload catigory.. and with the network traffic I would say that you are running a little slow in the download section also.. You are also playing a game that is extremely hot so the servers are running fairly full and have some lag on them to begin with.. To have green my guess would be a basic 3.0/256 connection or faster...

D-Link DI-524 Cuts my speed in half when using wirless
Swimmer replied to chriskmoran's topic in Networking and Hardware
before you run out and get a high gain antenna try and do some of the speed tweeks on the wireless card that they have around here.. I can get about 95% of my ethernet speed through my DI-524.. the 802.11g without the speed boost or what every they call it.. High gain antenna will increase the signal strength.. you are not having signal problems.. you are having thoughput problems.. with would be something that is software based... -
Just remember that the ram will operate at the speed of the slowest stick.. or the max that your motherboard supports.. So running 3200 with 2100 would be a huge mistake unless you motherboard only operates at 2100.. in which you must be planning for the future...

my guess is that SP2 has something to do with that.. Also the fact that you can restart and the speed is restored makes me thing that you might a rogue process that is eathing bandwidth.. If it happens about the same time each time.. Try Hijack-This and then post the results in their forums.. Just because you spyware report comes back clean doesnt mean that you computer is clean!! This crap it being coded every day... Just wondering have you any odd files on your computer??

I am glad to hear that so many Comcast customers are happy with the upgrade!! I cant wait to get home and try the new service! I read about a month ago I read about the upgrade on Tom's Hardware... I wasnt sure that it would go though but since SBC is going to offer 5mb DSL for $30 in the coming months.. I am not really suprised.!

Move jumpers to cable select.. put the optical drives on their own channel and the hard drive on the other.. put the hard drive on master.. try that..

sounds like you are shipping.. I know that newegg is the best.. I have used it alot.. just ask Lorne.. or CA3LE about the Pimputer.. or search for it in the archives... those were the good old days..

you also might need to forward some ports if it is an issue of connecting to a game..

I believe ATI just released a new version.. might be beta but it is worth a try.. if your card is ATI

Where are you getting these prices?? The CPU prices look right.. except the 3.2 is an OEM and the 3.4 is retail.. the 9800 is 150ish right now... and the 9600 is about 70.. Please tell me it wasnt zipzoomfly.. The first mistake was taking a company built system and sticking a 3rd party power supply that was inferior... The more you spend now on a ps the less in the long run.. cheap power supplies run dirty and cause un-need stress on components... Just one thing.. did you plug the 12v connector back into the mobo? Also i am pretty sure that replacing the power supply voids any warrenties that the company offers..
