  5. where the hell do you work that you have access to this type of equpiment?
  6. I will send you some snow... West Lafayette, Indiana is it freezing up here.. It was 37* at 5:30 when i rolled out of bed to go to practice.. Let me know.. i can pack some up and ship it to you I am sure that I will have more than enough to send some to all of the AZ guys
  7. hmm... that is odd.. as you sure that the page isnt being cached in IE? Or even if it ever existed... The database isnt find anything like that right now.. I dont think that firefox would be that slower..
  8. The reason that Flordia is so fast is because there is nothing left after the storms... JK JK no it is really nice when you are placed on a new node and very few people are on it.. However, that also means that you are going to get slower as time goes on.. An ISP doesnt spent $20,000 for new equipement just to keep 100 or so users on one node... We need fiber!
  9. You are always going to want more.. The faster you can download the better.. However everyday surfing you dont really see the difference between a 1.5mb connection and a 5mb connection.. Unless you are loading some type of mutimedia content. Hell if I could get a fiber optic connection that runs at 10mbps i would get it.. That is so fast and as long as it was reasonable..
  10. yup that is the most popular version... There was a site out there that was linked on tomshardware a while back where they told you how to setup your own wireless isp using those routers... they also showed how to setup a VoIP wireless network.. allowing for the next gen of phone... The start up cost what high but after that it was pretty reasonable..
  11. are you smoking something...
  12. seen that one before.. those are sooooooo sweet..
  13. yeah i thought that it was attack related also..
  14. cool cool!!
  15. try and tweak.. dont compain to comcast.. cause they will not care.. as long as you are with in about 50kb of 250kb for upload.. they will not care..
  16. yeah that is well known.. There is a guide that allows you to make it into a basic webserver.. pretty cool but not much storage..
  17. just some dumbass who had to much time on his hands..
  18. that is great!
  19. it is because it is an HP/Compaq.. the only thing worse would be a mac.. sorry about that dude.. sounds like the restore files got messed with/up..
  20. what you are saying is true.. however, some, not all, ISPs use the bandwidth cap.. If they have extra bandwidth that isnt being used they normally will raise the limit for each customer.. So when you see 3 times faster you need to ask yourself two question.. Is it a home or office connection and are they telling the truth?
  21. ok here is how it works.. they tell you that because they know that it is fast.. so they think that it is T1.. but really it is ethernet that is connected to a fat backbone.. I run normally 6000-8000kbps download and about 1.2-1.5 upload.. I am regulated to 3 gigs of up and 3 gig of down each day.. My guess is that Purdue is on some kind of OC line..
  22. by the time you restore you computer and then start to download the numerous patches need for windows you will be infected again.. So unless you have a copy of sp2 on hand.. that will not help... The average infection time is 21 min.. the time it take to install the oldest patches on Windows XP.. But if you are on like a university network that is reduced to like 10 or so...
  23. it would be to long for him to remember... trolls have small brains..
  24. yeah i know...
