So I hope that most of you know what Wimbledon is... If not you need to get out more often... Either way one of the largest upsets occured this past weekend... S. Williams was beat by Maria Sharapova, a Russian teen. Well after the match this it what happened: Now if that doesnt get some type of response in the cell phone world I dont know what will... think about it... It was a free plug worth millions and the cell phone failed!! Hell that moment could have been used in tv commercials to move product... O well maybe the cell phone giants will wake up and make sure that none of us ever have this problem again! Could you imagine on of our pro athletes making a call after a championship during the award presentation and have the call not go through?? It would be madness...

Hey for the home connection try using this program... It clears out all of the crap that IE and other people try and install on your computer, aka spyware... We had another person with the same type of problem.. http://www.webroot.com/wb/products/spysweeper/index.php

Yeah they have some really kick ass ideas... as far as speed... that is yet to be seen... Maximum pc did run a benchmark on them... Wasnt as impressive as you would think. We had a post that featured one of those computers.... Lorne one of the members was going and I think still is going to build what we called "Pimputer"... It was the go-l system on a budget...

Yes you read the title... Too fast computers... for our enemies that is. The USDOD, United State Department of Defense, is considering lowering the current requirement for the use of special licenses for exporting computers to foreign countries. The current requirement is a computer with 32 Intel Itanium Processors... With this new bill it would require every computer that is faster than a P3 650MHz require one of these new licenses. Here is a little graphic that shows you how much speed is really needed in the military.. For more info on this topic check this story out... http://news.com.com/Defense+bill+could+stifle+computer+trade/2100-7341_3-5253873.html?tag=cnetfd.buzz

Good now make sure that you run that program once a week to keep the speed... Noobs... letting spyware take over their computer...

Yes.. this is fairly normal for the cell phone app... From what I have read on the net it seems that anything over 100kb is standard... If you are looking to make it go faster you might want to check out verizon's high speed wireless internet option... It requires the use of a special laptop card and you can get up to 2mbs download... However like all call phone and wireless stuff the current coverage area is only in D.C and San Diego... The Verizon site clearly states that for their "internet" 40-60kbs is standard with bursts up to 144kbs... It seems like you are on the upper end so i would be really happy! As far as tweaking it... I dont think that you will see any difference what so ever... The service is just to slow and with a range from 40kbs to 140kbs it is hard to find one speed setting that would work for both of those speeds... For the home you can speed that up pretty easily... http://www.testmy.net/forumz/viewtopic.php?t=99 Check that link out for more info about tweaking the home connection... If you do tweak it you are going to need to change it back for when you are on the road... otherwise you connection will be slow... I think... You might be able to setup 2 users on windows xp and use one for home and the other for the road... I am almost positive that the registry entries would be different and allow you to do this... Well I hope this helps some what.. and welcome to the forum!! I think you have one of the most interesting ways of connecting to the net... Through the cell!

try running this program... http://www.webroot.com/wb/products/spysweeper/index.php This is what I use and it removes just about everything... are you running any antivirus? Also have you updated your drivers for your network card?

If you are on dsl my guess is, i have cable so this is a shot into the wind, you want to have the modem connect to the phone jack as close as possible... If you are on an extended run with any type of cable you begin to lose speed... However, with telephone cables it seems to happen quicker for some reason... I had a simular problem with my dial up modem when i had to use a 50 foot extention to connect... I was always being dropped and it was slow as hell... USR finally told me that their modems are not made to go on an extention over 15 ft... What ever that meant... So try switching out the cables removing the y adaptor, if that is what you have to connect the internet and the phone on the same connection, and get it a re test... How old is your instal of your os??? Have you checked for spyware? just simple system cleaning will resolve most of the problems... if you find that the speed improves from moving the modem closer to the phone jack then move it right next to it and run an ethernet cable to your computer... you can put over 150ft of ethernet cable before you begin to run in to speed issues... Let us know how this all works out...
