you can only run dual channel or normal... If you plug in that extra chip then you will not be running dual channel but single channel with a total of 1280mb of total system ram... I would stay with the dual channel set up...

We all know Alienware computers are something to behold and look at cause they are just pieces of work... I have personally seen one, it was sick with a virus , but still it was just amazing! I am not quite sure what is going on to tell you the truth but I am going to just guess based on the set up of the system... If you are not using a router to connect these two systems then you are using 2 nics in one pc and then a crossover cable to the other... Which means that any remote traffic would be intercepted by the first pc before it reaches the second if it is running the same client.... The beauty of a router is you can forward a single port to an internal IP address and only that IP address will respond to the traffic... You might want to try and hook up the line from the modem to the "server" then from the server run a line to your computer... This might get rid of the problem with the remote side but then you might lose the remote side on your computer... I have one more question for you... Are you running two seperate IP address on this system? and is the Default Gateway one of those IPs? Play around a bit and see what happens...

yeah so now that i know how to make custom windows for computers that are not supose to have windows i needed a new project... I couldnt think of anything so I thought of way to improve my window.. I have seen some really awesome designs on some of the cases that i have seen at some of the lan parties I have attended... Mostly for clans and the generic bio hazard signs... Since I dont belong to a lan clan I dont have a logo to engrave on my window... But I do have a favorite site... TESTMY.NET... So I designed a graphic on paint shop pro then began etching it into the lexan. I am just about finished... I have a little more work but I will post some of the pics that I have so far... I think it turned out really well for my first attempt.. Who knows we might have some new members...

sounds to me like they are doing hardware upgrades on their system... That is really frustrating... I know i was with out my connection for about 3 weeks while comcast played with themselves fixing the node and upgrading the backbone that I connect to... Make sure you complain and tell them that you should not be paying for the time that you connection is down...

Holy cow that is on hell of a title... Ok here is the deal... I know alot about Desktop and the good components that make a computer decent and what to stay away from... Now that I am starting college next year I am looking at replacing my desktop with a notebook/laptop. I have been looking around that the big name brands, HP/Compaq, Dell, Gateway/eMachine, IBM, and just for kicks Alienware... I am completly in the dark on this one... Here is what I have put together based on some reviews from PcWorld and Cnet.com HP zd7000 3.2ghz Pentium 4 with HT Windows XP Pro 512mb ddr ram 60gb 5400rpm DVD/CR-RW drive 17.0 Wide screen LCD 128mb Nvidia Go5700 That is about $1850 I like this one because it has a decent graphics card/solution which I hope will be able to play some games... The only real problem is that the battery life is really bad! This doesnt really bother me cause it is a desktop replacement..
