Hope you can answer this one does Asus Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard backup the bios if you flash it with a new one, just in case? Think they called it like a dual boot bios? Its supposed to save from a bad flash? I googled it, no luck finding out forsure. thought you may know.

I thank you so very kindly for the reply. After some thought, Think I will leave the overclocking alone. Really can not see risking it just for bragging rights. I for sure agree with the need to lower the defaults a bit. That way the cooler will kick on while gaming. Kinda pointless to have liquid cooling if I am not gonna use it. Also handy having a better understanding of temps, what the max is, greatly appreciate that information. One other question, Should I Run amd Cool and quiet? I set the bios to run the motherboard optimized. If you look at this video below, It will help you better understand what I am saying. While looking at the advanced settings I noticed amd cool and quiet was disabled. Never to crazy to change bios settings. So like to be sure. Better safe than owning a brick.

Ok, I have my Computer up and running. So I have some questions. I am running AMD FX-6100 hope you all can help. Is the default software for temps the best? Or is there something different I should use? Using Celsius Scale what temps should I kick the fan on? Default setting is what I am using, Its set to full speed at 50c is that right? It runs Idle at 33c after some gaming the hottest I have seen is is 48 c. Is overclocking the CPU make that much of difference? Any other information you can send my way would be greatly appreciated. I have overdrive installed. There was another program on the motherboard disk. It wont install. Googled it, Seems like I need to flash the bios to get it to work. BUT!! With the same motherboard, others claim they are bricking there system with the bios flash. So I WON'T be flashing the BIOS unless I have to.

WOW!! Order Late tues, Few details worked out wends morning, Sat Fed Ex dude is here with my puter. Nope, No overnight. Live in the midwest. When I first opened up I about cried. I thought OMG they did not assemble it. Thats why I got it so fast. MAN!!! Looked further, Yep, its assembled and ready to rock. Solid state drive looks so tiny!! Will say it just smokes. Cool thing, The solid state and my 2 Sata Drives install by side loading them. Super easy, super fast. Little problem with software not working with liquid cooler. Google helped me fix it. Kept saying could not connect. Little scary. Thought they are gonna get this back. Nope. Spent the rest of the day, Updating, Software, Router, bla bla bla. Got it just the way I wanted, Backed it all up.So tomorrow night, works done. Time to play a game. New batman sounds good. Few days I will Push the cpu.

Going with Both the Best Motherboard I could buy at the time, Going with the Liquid Cooled was 2 of my better ideas. I know with AMD you can upgrade the Cpu pretty easy, Not sure about Intel. They are all getting so fast and so many cores I am just not sold on the idea that simple fan cooling is the best.

Yea Triran, I did some more investigating on that. If and when I decide to swap out the cpu I have no fear. I THINK I am gonna try the overclocking after all. Just to see if I can do it. What difference it makes. I still have my amd quad core. Went through and thinned out some of my old computer parts. Picked up a adapter at amazon for 10 bucks so I can hook up some old harddrives through usb. Not sure whats on them, will get them dealt with so I can get rid of them. There just some old IDE drives. I did give thought to the 8 core. In time I may jump it up. IMHO the processors from both Intel and AMD are getting a bit silly. More cores, faster speeds, problem with it is software has not even come close to catching up so they can utilize them to there full potential. Sure you have benchmarks on both, In the real world would a normal person notice I difference? I have my doubts. There are to many other factors that dictate the speed of your machine. In the end I think its simply bragging rights. The ability to say wow its so much faster. Thats my 2 cents.

Yea, I am officially geeked out. I posted some youtube links to the setup I went with. Cant find it, But then again I could not find this one earlier? I have learned so much from this build. Most people research then buy, well I bought then did the research. Think the most important lesson, Dont go cheep on the motherboard. Which makes sense. Something I never really thought about. Seems like most believe 8 gig is still almost to much. 16 is just overkill. Cutting costs on other things so you can go big on your motherboard is wise. Upgrading the ram and other stuff is pretty easy, Upgrading your motherboard can be a bit of problem. Think installing a liquid cooling system can be super tough. I am thankful I let them do it. They ran into a small snag, a 20 dollar part then ended up being free fixed the issue, If I had to have done it, LOL, I can see that new computer being a SWEET paper weight and not only spending quality time in my yard, But I would be replacing a window. Not sure if I will tackle replacing the cpu down the road, I have done it, but not with a water cooled system. Will say my local computer dude is super cool. Has no problem you bringing in the part and him putting it in. He does not have to worry about the part warranty itself, and he makes money. Its official. I am simply geeked out now. Just gotta wait on the computer, Get it up and running and updated and software installed then backed up. Once that is done, I am so gonna play a game and stop thinking about computers for awhile. Oh my liquid cooling is a sealed unit, So keep it dust free is about all I have to do.

When I get it, I will try to give you guys IMHO a real world review of Liquid cooling and Solid state drives. Let you all know if they seem t be worth the cost. The liquid cooling has me completely baffled. So thats gonna take some research and lots questions. Not sure on what the temps of the cpu should be, bla bla bla. Will put a Sata slave drive in it so I can compare the Sata with the solid state. Yea your right about one thing, she probably wants her laptop back, lol. I miss my monitor. Got a 23 inch sitting in my closet just waiting for a computer. For sure glad I let them assemble it, Don't think putting in a liquid cooling system is real easy. Sad part is, in 6 months my computer will be middle of the road setup, lol. Im cool with that. You can bet once I get it set up and running I am gonna play a game, thinking the new batman again. My old computer died a tragic death. Been using the GF laptop pretty much as the family computer. So I was bored and went and Built my own computer at CPU solutions. Just goofing off to see what it would cost. Have always done my business with CPU solutions. Trust them. So I thought it would be cool to build a decent computer. I wanted Liquid Cooled, I wanted a Solid State Drive, Comes with 8 gig of ram, I have more ddr3 ram around so will up it to 12 gig no problem. Not really ready for the 8 core but wanted to try the 6 core AMD. Just LOVE amd, Always have. Wanted AMD FX 6100.So I put that in there, Went with 120 gb Intel Sold state drive, and for motherboard I went all out, The Ausus Sabertooth 990Fx Mother Board. Love the Ausus Motherboards. For graphics card I wanted A Gforce, So I went with GTX 560, Again, Love the cards. Just my personal Preference. With the case, I went with this one. Just cause it looks cool.http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Dark-Fleet-DF-35-Gaming/dp/B003M8I1RQ It comes already assembled, Which I wanted, That way liquid cooling goes bad, or anything else, Its on them, They can not blame Assembly done on my part as the problem. So I got all this loaded, Cost was 1500 bucks with shipping. Just laughing thinking wow I want this setup. Its just to much right now. Go to the bathroom, come back and the GF says you want the receipt printed? Um HUH?? You didn't?? Yep she did. She got quite a bit back on taxes, But its her money imho. I about fell down. If you do buy one, IMHO i would buy the wall charger. The new nook does not come with one. They are like 5 bucks. I already had one from first edition nook. Works fine. Don't use your computer to charge it. Use the wall charger. Don't let it get below 20 percent before you charge it.

Been awhile. Wanted to stop in and say hello. After lots of debate, got myself the new nook touch, Super impressed with it. I LOVE to read. Of course did lots of research. No desire for ipad or anything like that. Nothing color. Just a simple reader with lots of battery time. IMHO Kindle is trying to hard to push ads, and make themselves a apple product. They only want you to read there books from there web site. While I may be wrong, You can't side load books(side loading is hooking the reader to your computer and drag and drop your books into the reader) So for me probably stay a nook user. Don't get me wrong. Kendle is ok. Just more used to the nook, how it works, how to load books on it. Just works better for me. While I still have a 10 more days of the 15 days you get to return it no questions asked, Unless something major happens, I am gonna keep it. have plans to add a micro sd card to hold ALL my ebooks, so I dont have to keep loading from the computer, as well as a nice case. Will do that after the 15 day grace period just in case. so I find myself reading LOTS more. Less and Less computer time. IMHO just more relaxing. Oh if your thinking of getting a nook touch, Get the wall charger for it, it does not come with it. Its only 5 bucks at amazon. Charge it let it run the battery so low it shuts off the nook, Do that Once TWICE tops then recharge with it hits 10 to 15 percent of battery life left. Seems like that gives you the best battery life. At least thats what most are saying. Im on my 4th novel with it. Just about done with novel number 4. I have 48 percent of battery life still.My guess I will get 7 or so decent size novels finished before I have to do a recharge. But its still early and thats just a guess.

Hey guys, need some advice. I am looking for a wi fi booster for my laptop.Something that I can connect by usb, Not sure how well they work? We have some free wireless access points in town, If I move the laptop to another room I can connect better. If you could give me a link to a place to buy it I would appreciate it. IMHO just dont see many jumping up to windows 8. Windows 7 seems to be ok fine. Stable runs ok. I think this fast cycle of releases will bite microsoft in the behind. Who wants to change there entire OS every few years. From what little I have seen of windows 8, not impressed, will not make the switch. I can see the issues now. Install a new program. Windows 8 wont boot up because it thinks you new program is bad. Oh yea, another great idea from microsoft. There are so many decent free anti-virus programs out there, just dont see how this is gonna keep anyone safe. With the boot issue thing, oh I am guessing its not so much about virus and stuff, they are trying whatever to stop piracy. Thats my 2 cents.

Ok, I have like three extentions in firefox I am trying to figure out how to get rid of. There are no options to disable, or uninstall. I have windows 7. I went to the "user files" for my computer. Found firefox, Looked in the extension folder, But its empty ? Its really not that big of deal. Just something I wanted to learn.

IMHO, I think to many just assume cable internet is faster. I think its just been so oversold, Its almost pointless. In my area. Cable internet is a joke. A very expensive joke. I fought them for about a year. In the end. I think they just oversold it. Lord knows I tried. They tried to. At times it was just soooooo slow. So I went dsl and never went back. My speeds are SO much better, Its cheaper, way more reliable. So again IMHO, If you have fought with your cable company, Turned your computer inside out making sure it was ok. Your connections are fine. Consider Dsl. Just a thought. I guess the best way to describe it. At one time, You could get on the autobahn and push your car as fast as you wanted to go. So many found out about it, So many had to try it, I hear its not as easy to do anymore. To many people trying to go fast, Not enough road to handle the demand.

Ok, While I am Not gonna take sides/get in the middle of anything. Yes, In certain Forums on the net I do Flame/get flamed. I always thought this site was a bit more adult. May Not agree with everything posted, I thought the whole Idea of Adult forums was to Share Ideas, The Ability to disagree, and let it go. Or Debate the subject with some bit of respect. So wireless does have the same possible band width issues as wired. While I am sure the wired community is a bit relieved, Looks like wireless may have some major issues in the near future. I would guess even the net itself could see some problems. To many users, to many connections. Thanks for the video that helped me understand it a bit better. I am thinking we are depending way to much on internet connections, that could be a bad thing.

I will be the first to say I Understand wired connection. But with Wireless I am pretty clueless. Does Wireless have the same possible issues that the wired connection have? With Cable over selling in my area so bad, More and More are going DSL. Its faster, More reliable. Does Wireless have the same issues ? More and More are going wireless, Will they eventually have the same issues with the backbone network that the wired connection has. To many connections, To much usage and the connection will become almost unusable. Will the wireless companies be able to meet demand ? I hope all that makes sense. I saw a program once, with some simple stuff you got at radio shack it was pretty easy to listen to a cell phone conversation. I have no idea if thats still possible. I would think, that with all this information just floating around, Security could become a major issue in time, Or am I way off base?

I really don't know enough about any of the lawsuits to make any type of intelligent comment. But hey Its never stooped me before, I think the whole Lawsuit thing in America Is out of control. It Has been that way for to long. Its a good part of the Reason Why some things cost way more than they should. Now Myself, I am Old. Cell Phones Don't really mean Nothing to me. I carry a cheap 40 dollar phone and Pay 30 Bucks a Month to keep it on. I am simply not a big fan of Phones. And Don't even get me started on stupid Text ting.

Yea I keep all three browsers, Keep them Updated and such just to see which works better. . Like you said. In 6 months who knows which browser works best ? I dont remember how long I have been using install creator to back up data files for browsers, winamp, But it sure has worked out good. If your reading this and thinking of doing the same. ALWAYS manually back up your settings first. Then try the new exe you made. Make sure it works. I just had to do a fresh install of windows 7 had a bad driver I could not track down and it kept throwing the blue screen at me. I used a free program "whocrashed". It was one of 2 things. Software driver or Keyboard. I went with software, Reloaded windows, Think I was right. Seems fine now. Guess my backup was bad to. O well it happens. Thank Goodness I am a Backup freak. Windows XP taught me that one.

Well FUDGE, I dont see a way to edit my post? Anyway, Ignore the HUGE backup thing with Chrome. After I posted that, It really did make me wonder why was it so huge. I mean I used it to restore, Worked fine. So......I decided to Read the Directions!! Yes I know, Im a Guy and reading directions is something I tend not to do, So It turns out I was simply using the wrong path. Its amazing what you can find on Google, Who would of thunk it. Feel free to Make fun, Give me Crap on that one. I deserve it. Massive Brain Fart. Just gotta remember. If it looks wrong, USE GOOGLE SEARCH!! Read the directions. Of course I wont, But pretty good Lie dont ya think? LOL

Well I had to switch browsers again. Back to using firefox, Seems about the fastest compared to opera and chrome on my set up. Just installed firefox 6. Moves right along,But I do keep all 3 on my computer, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. What happened to chrome ? Started getting Blank web pages, had to reload a few times before it came up. Same way with Break.com. Reload it 4 or so times to get the video to show up. I googled it. Seems like a Known Bug. Maybe they will fix it soon. But for now, It just got way to frustration, Reloading chrome all the time to get the web pages to show up. I even did a reinstall, No luck. Another odd thing I noticed. When Backing up Firefox or Opera, The Backkup is pretty small. With Chrome ITS HUGE!! Unless I am doing something wrong. The backup is over 200mb! Wow. I back it up the same way I do the others, Find the settings in windows 7 in the app data file, And Back it up. I always clear the history before I do it. No idea why its so flipping big. The way I back up is a bit different but works pretty sweet for me. I use install creator, Its free, It creates a exe file, So I hit the exe file I made and my settings for the browser are restored. Do the same with winamp. Works NICE, Saves time.

Well Mud I am sure you remember the days when Mac was way more secure/safe on the net. Not sure if enough people started using them that the hackers took notice or Other reasons. Who knows.
