Have you installed or uninstalled any hardware or software before this happened?
  2. Welcome to the site, xlimitx Nice speeds. What are your advertised speeds?

    problem

Do you have a disk in the floppy or (not likely to cause the message) but a cd in a cd drive? Or actually even a usb/flash drive connected?

Try booting into safe mode and see if that works.

Did you also close the browser you were downloading it with? If all else fails, restart your computer.
  7. If you read though the message carefully, you'd notice the security breach has nothing to do with Firefox/Mozilla
  8. 989% faster? Sound like it could be cached.
  9. "Your query was not specific enough. Try using larger words" I've seen that message too when doing 5 word (for example) searches. I have no idea why it does that sometimes.
  10. They should have 10/100Mb. The Docsis standard is faster than 10Mb. My Motorola Sb4220 is a 10/100 modem. The ISP may internally set the modem LAN to 10Mb.
  11. True. But modern graphics cards/monitors use SVGA or XGA. VGA is very limited for Windows 9x and up. Especially with a max of 256 colors.
  12. You mean "local area connection 1" or something like that? That is your internet connection. Each nic (Network card) has a connection labeled "Local Area connection n" Where n is a number.
  13. I had that happen to me once. I forget how it happened. A good way to prevent losing your bookmarks is to back them up. In Firefox: Bookmarks>>Manage Bookmarks>>Export. It will save it as an HTML bookmart file that can be easily be read and imported into another browser. Not that you'd want to leave FF.
  14. Looking at your tracert it seems your problem is on the route to Testmy.net. Try a speed test on a few of the download mirrors and see if you get different results. Also try more speed tests here at different times of day, if you can. He doesn't have to run it again. you can change the 'Speed (advertised) kbit/s' then hit 'recommend' and it will recalculate the results. BTW the Ttester results look good.
  15. Welcome to the site, birdmann Read the two topics in my sig and post your results.
  16. Welcome to the site, ETOUMichael If you haven't already, read the two topics in my sig.
  17. The results look the same. Did you restart your computer after applying the settings?
  18. It looks like your pic says 1.74GB? That sounds about right.
  19. No, right click on 'My Computer' not your disk (c:) drive. It should look something like:
  20. Right click 'My computer>>Properties. That will tell you how much memory Windows sees, minus system memory allocated for intergrated video (if included).
  21. Only one power supply. All or the speakers plug into the sub. I think it's 122Watts RMS. The plug is polarized. I'm pretty sure the power supply is outside the sub. There's a power brick, like a laptop brick, in the middle of the power cord.
  22. From what you've said, it seems to definitely be a problem with that monitor. I'm no pro with monitors, BTW. The monitor could be overheating or it could be the monitor power supply. Did the problem happen to start after a storm of power outage? Hit it hard enough and Ka-boom!
  23. The hissing seems to come and go once in a while. Guess what it's gone again today. It seems to go away when I leave my speakers off for a while. I turn them off at night. Ah well, I guess I'll have to live with it. Edit: NVM, it's back again. Okj here's the deal. I have a feeling it could possibly be the shielding on the speaker wires. The wires for the front speakers are built in, so I can't replace them. The rear wires are regular speaker wire. Another add thing. If I put the sub face down the hiss goes away, but the air hole? in front would be blocked. I don't get why. I can't connect the speakers directly to the soundcard, they have RCA type connections.
