  1. cables wouldn't do me any good... I'm hardwiring jacks in the walls. Plus I already have plenty of shorter cables
  2. I'm going to be wiring the network in my new house fairly soon. I've been looking around for Cat6 cable and I'm not really sure where to get it from, as well as what else I'll need... I need about 500ft of cable, preferrably shielded Cat6, maybe stranded as well? (Not sure if this would be better or not in my case...) I would like a patch panel, 12 ports ought to do it. As for tools, I don't know what I'll need. Any suggestions/recommendations/tips? On another note, I'm also looking for around 500ft of RG6 cable...

  15. Well, I'm using Intel in all my pcs... but I don't do much gaming. All sound encoding, video encoding, etc... I don't have heat issues either. (Although that might be because of my pimp cooler... lol.. I don't have any temperature sensors that I can read with the cpu, but I can get a temp from the base of the heatsink.)

  19. The signal isn't harmful partly because of the frequency and the signal strength... it's about the same as your average cordless phone. Cell phones, radios (like the 800MHz police radios), etc are bad because of the high signal strength... they go miles compared to the 1/5 of a mile line of sight or so max for a wireless router.

  23. it's dying... still hanging in but I don't think there's much left for it. I'm starting to get read errors, drive not ready for command, dma timeout, odd noises... I think I can get it replaced under warranty but I'm not sure. I also had a 4 month old Seagate die, and a Maxtor that's about a year a half old.
