  1. wow... I don't even wanna know how much $$$$$ that would set you back...
  2. Yea, it's not the monitor. If it was the monitor the screenshot would be fine lol
  3. Yea, it's not gonna show up normal in a browser. It should still be fine though.
  4. Nothing, unless you run Win98 from the second drive and want to access the first drive. Win98 doesn't support NTFS.
  5. Yea... if they knew enough to update I would have a lot less work.
  6. I just MD5'd it just in case It's fine. (Not that I don't trust you or anything... but yea...) Goes in C:WindowsSystem32, has to be replaced in safe mode.
  7. This is part of the reason LCD screens are as expensive as they are... they frequently have to be junked right off the assembly line due to bad pixels.
  8. Try using IE 5.5 with no updates for a while and see how you do. Most of the computers do have protection, but it's not updated very often. Not all of them have had admin rights either.
  9. and the saddest part is that it's true. I'd say for most of the computers I fix, if the owner hadn't used IE or Outlook Express he/she wouldn't be having near as many problems. (If any)
  10. http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php Bloc has some nice themes...
  11. It's not as bad as it sounds... I plugged it in seconds after turning it on when I realised I had forgotten to plug the power cable into it. The bios screen hadn't even loaded yet.
  12. I've only killed a PC once... plugging in a IDE hard drive while the computer was on. It didn't like that so well. Aside from that I've damaged the odd part with static electricity but not an entire computer.
  13. Yes, fairly often with no problems at all. Maxthon is my IE...although I still prefer Firefox by a long shot.
  14. Maybe the same doesn't apply to cable modems, but satellite modems do build up static electricity if they aren't properly grounded. I have no documentation for this, just my own experience and the experience of many others. (Even Direcway tech support, believe it or not... ever wonder why they tell you to disconnect the cables from your modem and touch the ends together?)
  15. It sounds like you're getting intermittent packet loss for some reason.
  16. We aren't as picky about double posting now with the shorter edit time, as long as there is sufficient reason to post again. You still have over 20 minutes to edit your post though, which should be more than sufficient to fix spelling/grammar errors etc. If you need the post edited for some reason you can PM a mod as well.

  18. Well, it is only a 500KB test... it's not going to be very accurate for any high speed internet.

  20. If you're connecting via S-Video you need to set the resolution to 640x480 or close to that, or you won't be able to read anything. Also consider increasing the Windows font size.

  23. I think this isn't done commonly (in kits) because of potential condensation problems...
